In this eleventh episode of my Mountain Days Vlog I head up onto the Glyderau to photograph and film the sunset. Having caught the bus to Pen Y Pass I am hoping for a cloud inversion having been watching the weather forecast for a few days. I'm lucky enough to get up above the clouds for the sunset to give some wonderful views.

"I know a bank where the wild thyme grows..." (A Shakespeare quote for every situation!) Nice to see the small details as well as the grand views, and what stunning light. Really enjoyed this!

Brilliant Rob! you caught some lovely shots. Your commentary is much appreciated on fauna and land form as much as your views on the national park. Looking forward to your next upload!

Great video and images Rob, you certainly got amazing conditions. Good point on the buses, have used them to complete linear walks in Snowdonia but some of the services are quite limited, Bethesda to Capel Curig and back over the tops was good but careful planning and timings needed. An expansion of the service to reduce congestion along the A5 would be most welcome.

Cheers Mark, yes it would be amazing to see a fleet of Carbon neutral buses running every 15 minutes around the major valleys. It is probably the only sustainable solution for the increasing number of visitors that want to be able to enjoy the mountains.

Beautiful compositions there Rob, looked a good evening spent in the mountains! Your pronunciation of Crib Goch and Lliwedd sounded fluent! For info though- the ‘Glyd’ in Glyderau, rhymes with ‘Blood’, not ‘Glid’!

Fantastic vlog once again Rob. As of Philip Cottingham, we've been up there numerous times but never specifically to catch the sunset. 🌄📷🚶🏼‍♂️

What a lovely video. I have a mild obsession with this part of Wales, and it’s pleasure to see your take on things in the area. Thanks for sharing. Completely separate and silly question - where are the casual walking trousers and fleecy hoodie from?! They look comfy.

Thanks very much Alastair. The trousers are Rab Radius Pants and the hoody is Patagonia. 😀

Fantastic video... How do you know when there might be the conditions for a cloud inversion?
@RobJohnson
@RobJohnson 3 года назад
Thanks very much. We had a sustained period of high pressure and some fairly humid weather so I was on the lookout. I then use the Met Office app to compare summit forecasts with valley forecasts so in this case Glyder Fach vs Llanberis.
