can confirm: after heat blast, i can only press one of either gauss or ricochet before heat blast comes off recast. I only play the game for ricochet, drill and heated slug shot, because they look cool (only level 60 atm)
Machinist is good for people like me who tunnel vision when a Job is "too exciting". Good example is I first played Ninja and I was on the floor more then a Dragoon and level 54 with not a single player commendation. Picked up Machinist and was able to learn things easier so that the only time I might tunnel vision now is when I'm in Hypercharge. Now in the middle of Heavensward patches I'm actually doing good DPS to the point I've ran into some instances of generating too much aggro when running with a new tank. In short it's a good class if you feel overwhelmed with all the stuff you have to manage with yourself and boss mechanics.
Just got my MCH to 71 in HoH last night. I was almost always the tank for the boss on floor 30. Only SAM and SMN seemed able to consistently out-damage me. But apparently I was generating more aggro than them due to ability speed. (Doesn't hurt that I was going into the battle with capped heat gauge so basically was able to get in 3 hypercharge phases in the 40 second fight)
You can do an entire hypercharge between hits of your combo if you don't put anything else in there. If you want to hypercharge during a combo you will have to delay Drill and Air Anchor if they come up, or you will break the combo.
@@scoobiusmaximus9508 is this something they removed recently because all the way from 30-80 neither hot shot, drill or air anchor interrupted my combo. I think only the spammable aoe interrupts the 1 2 3
@@Ntwolf1220 i was saying of you Hypercharge in between hits of a combo you can't put Drill or Air Anchor in because Hypercharge is 5 gcds. You can get 5 gcds in between a combo breaking but not 6. So if you hypercharge during a combo and drill or air anchor come up you will either have to delay that, lose a Heat Blast, or break the combo.
Don't feel shitty about it at all. I've been playing it a ton (currently level 65 on it) and I absolutely love it. It doesn't get stale or boring for me at all I always feel great about how much dps I contribute. In my opinion it's a fantastic class so please dont be discouraged from checking it out!
Your pronunciation is real, it's just... a completely different word. "Machinist" comes from "machine". "Mechanist" comes from "mechanism". And the guy who repairs your car is a "mechanic", originally shorthand for "mechanical repair".
I think using Wildfire between shot 2 and 3 and THEN using hypercharge makes wildfire a lot smoother and a lot easier to land your 6 shots without clipping. Also I noticed if I used drill during wildfire sometimes made me lose a shot because the animation is a lot longer than combo shots and will make the game not register your last shot because of it....a bit like if you use your pets abilities too fast in succession on summoner or scholar and they'll skip one.
It's the only job in the game that cannot be played on bad internet. Because it runs on wow's GCD, lul. Not shitting on FFXIV but the only real annoying thing I found after moving from wow is that servers are just worse. Server ticks are longer, and I literally live in Japan with great internet connection to the servers next door, so it's a clear case of bad netcode.

Ninja after the 5.1 rework is one of the most ping friendly jobs in the game, It was the worst before that but not anymore cause mudras are on the gcd and there's no mandatory double weaves in their rotation at all.
Only borderline unplayable class on bad ping? Please have you ever hard casting on red mage because your dualcast procced too late due to ping, now that's pain
very true, you need really good ping to properly do the rotation properly and double weave, u get sore fingers from being so busy but rotation is braindead
Ma-sheen-ist is the correct way to say it lol. Not sure how ppl come to think it’s pronounce mach-in-ist. It’s like what my brother does for work. He is a CNC ma-sheen-ist. A ma-can-ik repairs stuff. A ma-sheen-ist uses machines to build and or create stuff.
Really depends how much lag. I get occasional lag despite a normal steady 80 ping, but that's probably server based or someplace in between messing up.
It's obviously sarcasm but for other people the Mach part refers to machines not the speed so it is pronounced machine-ist also bad analogy as its not spelt machanic its mechanic...

7:07 - as someone who played as MNK prior to any other class, I disagree. The idiotic "I shat my pants and now run to the nearest bathroom with my fists clenched and legs spread" animation of fist weapons is much worse. And what makes it THE worst, is the fact that you HAVE to run around as MNK all the time, while MCH doesn't have to deal with any of positional bs aside from AoE cones.
Machinist does not have the highest DPS out of all the jobs. However, no other job has KILLAH QUEEN thus already making them inferior in every possible way. I should know, I mained MNK, PLD and the other one before my eyes were opened to the glory of mechanisms. Dare I say... That from the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me.
Yeah, you wouldn't ask for a mAchanic for a car, because that's not a thing. A mechanic however is a thing that exists. Just like how a mEchinist isn't a thing that exists where as a Machinist is.
I feel the class needs a bit more intricacy. The pet autodestruct should be player-triggered, not automatic, and they should bring back ammunition for the 1-2-3 combo.
You are indeed mistaken. It ticks every second for a total of 11 ticks based on when it's cast. It is not a DoT effect operating on the 3 second actor tick timers, but a unique ground AoE implementation.
It's the mechanic, not the machinist that fixes the car, if you have A after CH, it's pronounced as K, but if you have I, it's pronounced as SH. Do you say Machine with K? I doubt.
But yeah machinist, is really bad for bad pings, the skill queuing tough, but guns. The physical range archetype is a lot of fun though, full movement with full damage.
