There are many "once in a lifetime" moments that happen in medical school. Memories that have little significance when your adrenaline is running and all you are focused on is not screwing up. But give it a few days, months, years even, these are the milestone memories that shape you as not just a doctor, but as a person. To the new babies introduced to the world in front of me and the mothers and fathers who trust me as a learning medical professional, thank you for being part of my journey.
Come say hi!

Just a few minutes into this, but I can 100% agree that delivering a baby is one of the unforgettable keystone memories of being a medical student! It's exhilarating and terrifying at the same time - so many emotions all round!

The very first baby I helped delivered was a baby girl. The moment I brought her out and showed her to her mom, the mother turned her face away. Being an only child and a woman, it hurt me a lot. I literally lashed out as I had never done before. I told her look around the labour room and tell me who she saw. Who I was. Who the nurses were. And lastly who she was. Gender wise. She regretted her actions but that was the most joyful as well as the most shocking moment for me. Gender discrimination in India. Hit hard for the first time.

Can I say this ? I don’t think I have seen anyone with such story telling in the RU-vid medical community. If I was not a fellow medical student I would quit my current carrier trajectory for the hope of such an experience. My outmost respect. You killed it.

My husband is an MSII and actually has a one up on most students because he’s had a front row seat to three of our own babies being born. I’m hoping he takes the knowledge of being my support person in to his L&D rotations. I’m a birth photographer and I got to witness a c section once and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. The OB let me get right across from her to photograph what was happening and it was mind blowing. Your reaction to catching your first baby is so heart warming. 💕

So far in life have I always let students do stuff to me as a patient as long as they have been there in a medial situation, and if they have failed I have told them to do it again. Everyone is new at something :)

Hey Andy, another Andy here, I’m 23 and in my second last year of med school in Sydney, and although the med school systems are a bit different in the States, I’ve really enjoyed watching your vlogs! There’s such an adjustment to being self motivated, changing sleep schedules and trying to learn on placements. I’ve recently just started surgical rotations, and am on neurosurgery atm. These videos are inspiring and awesome to hear about these precious experiences. I’ve also seen a worship cover on your channel and you mention your faith, and as a Christian myself, it’s also so great when faith in God puts all these things in perspective and a bigger picture. Hope we can all keep learning and growing 🔥🔥

Andy…I told you last week how I really appreciate your journey. I did think it was a bit surprising that you didn't say too much about your first delivery. Then, today, you shared such an emotional and transcendent moment. Like others here, some tears in my eyes. Never forget this amazing first experience. And, as ever, thanks for letting us experience this through your eyes.

I dropped my first one. Multip. vaginal. I knew exactly how I was going to control the delivery and exactly how I was going to grasp the slippery little thing. Had head, neck and body well-grasped and still dropped him. The day before the resident dropped one into the bucket and I was damn sure that wasn't going to happen to me. So I made a hammock under the mother's butt and over the stirrups. Head nurse was mad because it was going to mess up a table sheet. She was happier when she saw that baby slide out of my hands and fall only 3" onto soft cloth rather than into a steel bucket! I wonder what he did with his life.
