This house was designed by furniture artist Makoto Koizumi. The residents are a couple, a lighting designer and a museum educator, and their three cats. The minimalist space is stripped down to the bare essentials. The grain of the three-layered cedar panels adds sway and softness, and the composition of white, wood, and the landscape cut by the windows is poetic. The attention to detail, typical of furniture artists, is also a highlight. Although the house is compact, with a total floor space of 77 m2, it is a continuous space with no doors or other fittings except for the toilet, and the couple live freely in it, just like cats.
