Hey Everyone. Thanks for watching! Do me a favor, consider getting that first steel target. I have a discount code on my company's website that you can use. Here are my THREE top recommendations right now on the TA Targets website: 1.) Tee Post System: tatargets.com/product/genesis-tee-post-system/ This is the least expensive way to get into shooting quality steel targets. A great entry to get you more focused on training well! 2.) The Genesis Steel Target System: tatargets.com/product/genesis-steel-target-system/ This system has a base, top bracket, and a bunch of options for target plates. This is yet another phenomenal option as you get more serious about training. 3.) The Reduced C Zone A-DAP system: tatargets.com/product/mini-a-dap-2/ This is a beast. It is close range rifle rated (30 yards), has a lifetime warranty when you buy the 1/2" AR550 plate, and will last your entire lifetime. Sure, it's more expensive, but if you are seriously training, you need a serious target. USE CODE "KEYSTONECARRY" when you check out and you'll save 25% off almost everything. My instagram is: instagram.com/jareddaub/ DM me if you have questions. Buying products from my sites isn't just helping me. It's supporting everyone on my team. It makes these videos possible. Thank you for your continued support!
The bad guys are coming at night. No doubt. I've been telling people this for 15 years. Without the ability to see them coming you don't have the advantage. Hopefully the bad guys will not have NV or thermal capability. The best option I've seen lately is the AGM Rattler 35mm thermal scope in the $1800 range (or the nee version for $2400, but the first version is plenty good enough).I was shocked at the quality. I also have the Trijicon IR-Hunter, and it's not as good as that, but it's one-forth the cost. Compared to an NV capable EOtech and a PVS-14, it's a much better investment. One important point is that a thermal scope can be used night or day. Night vision is not usable during the day. Keep that in mind. Night vision requires a dedicated rifle or the ability to convert to NV easily, such as with an EOtech optic and a mounting system for a PVS-14 such as available from Samson Manufacturing. This comes with a rail mounted base and mounting rings for both a magnifier and the PVS-14. It takes about 8 seconds to convert from your day vision scope to night vision. Top quality stuff. Around $300.
@keystonecarry these thermals would be used productively with a semi auto "close" engagement weapons though what would recommend for the more bolt precision "scout" type? Would something like a Thor4 or Thor5 work better?
I’m not a fan of ATN products personally. Iray / RIX have better performance optics that are often similarly priced. The LEAP 6 is a great option for a scope. Or put an RH25 in front of an LPVO as a clip on.
ideally you'd have some form of both. I run binos more than thermal, but when it's time for thermal, I will incorporate a quality handheld or helmet mounted unit. NV wins when it's dime to drive, move effortlessly, etc. Thermal wins when you need to evade, pursue, identify, and verify if something is out there. Neither is perfect. They compliment each other.
