Alyn takes the opportunity to show off the Mourne Mountains in their winter splendour. Not a lot of snow but enough to get a real flavour of the stunning beauty of this beautiful mountain range
Nice to see Carrick Little Car Park so empty for the start of your walk Alyn - always nicer having those special hikes with not too many others for company 😉 There was such clarity in the views and I always love the way you name the surrounding mountain tops and lakes in your videos. That -11 must have been a bit of a shock but you certainly looked comfy in your gear 😎 A wonderful treat for the soul that day to see and capture all that you did! 🎉
It was a real tonic Miriam. Good for the soul. Soooo cold but quickening. The mountains are so different on days like this and never cease to surprise. Over every bump, round every rock there was so much gob-smacking beauty. The colour was spectacular, the freshness of the air, the faint heat from the sun in the valley, the ice locked bubbles, aw, just glorious. I did see a few folk out but in the Mournes youre never far from someone on a dander. We were all a little awed by it all.
So, so beautiful Alyn 😍 Snow makes everything seem that bit more magical and you had just enough to transform the mountains without making it too difficult to get around. I especially like how the distant summits stood out with their snowy caps. It feels like a distant memory with today's wind and rain! Those ice formations were amazing too 😊 Thanks for bringing us along 👏
Spot on Niall. The mountains are a different beast when there is snow but there wasn't too much that it was difficult to get about. It was a great walk and an even better experience.
Thomas, it was just amazing. Definitely take the opportunity if it comes along. Wrap up warm and go for it. The mountains are a different creature when they have been painted in snow.
I could feel the cold with you Alyn, not sure I’d have been taking the gloves off for long in those temps. The rocks around the 7:00 minute mark looked otherworldly, really cool. Fantastic day for it. 👍🏻
An absolute beauty of a day Eddie but soooooo cold. I was like a kid in a sweetie shop though, totally spoiled for stuff to film. The rocks covered in frost, ice or snow were just other worldly, so beautiful. Not gonna lie, was hoping for more snow but it was still so good. The mountains are so different in this weather.
Alyn, love that walk in from Carrick Little between those walls with the enormous boulders. A beautiful looking winters day in the Mournes with the high tops in white coats❄ Loved the ice, the rime frost and those white boulders and tors. Can be hard for much snow to get to the Mournes with a N or NW wind. Definitely a day to keep those extremities covered😊
Gerry, it's days like that, that leave you speechless. I mean, we are so lucky to have those mountains on our doorstep and then nature goes and paints them like that. Blows your mind. My poor extremities did suffer a bit but once I got walking again I was fine- I just find it awkward to work the camera and phone with gloves on. Ha ha ha

Was a classic. Soooo good. No microspikes mate just good old boots. Was def hairy on the way down. That rocky path towards Lamagan is no fun when it's icy!!!!!!
Beautiful Alyn, you really captured the beauty of the mountain. The ice formations on the tors looked spectacular, could look at those all day. I could nearly smell how crisp and clean the air was too, must have been baltic, defo long John weather! Thanks for taking us with you! Atb😊
@@IrelandOutdoors Gary youre spot on. It was so crisp and clear, it was stunning. It was catch-your-breath cold but with all your gear on it was fine. The mountains are a different creature in that weather and take on a completely different feeling. I love how the camera caught the blues in the sky, water, frost, snow and ice, it felt like that when I was walking and am so chuffed it showed up on camera. Was hoping for more snow 😁 but maybe we'll get another flurry before the season's done.
