I love this instrument. Love listening to this music. It calms me down. Thank you for uploading. But I can tell why some people would dislike the video: play the clip at 0.25 speed and check if she hits it every time. Especially around 37 seconds when you get a side view.
Probably the Asian aesthetic lol (I always see Chinese things get paired to Spirited Away or ATLA, which makes sense; ATLA draws inspiration from many East Asian cultures, including China, and Spirited Away is Japanese, which was influenced by Chinese culture).
@@marielcarey4288 there will always be a bunch of people who will dislike some stuff. It is good though that the majority of viewers have admired such music.
April, you are such a Wonderful artist🌹Your music is as Beautiful as you 🤗 I enjoy listening to your music very much❤️🤗 and watching your wonderful videos 🎥 Thank you so much🌹
The story is that a pair of artists came up with a variant of the steel drum called a hang, or hang pan. PANArt Hangbau AG is the name of the company, and they discourage the term “hang drum”. For just over a decade they made them one by one, in very limited quantities, out of very specially treated (nitrided) and hardened steel. They refused to license the design to a proper manufacturer. They sued copycats, and unauthorized use of the terms Hang and PANArt. Between 2000 and 2013, the only source of these instruments was through PANArt and the used market. Prices on used Hang would get inflated up to $8,000 or $10,000. New, they were about $2,000-$3,000 USD, Maybe even $5,000. IF you could even get on the waiting list. I understand about having control over your intellectual property, and wanting to control your art. But in my personal opinion PANArt are dicks. I went through high school and college wanting one, but never could afford it. So during this time of high demand, and very limited supply, some creative Americans took a propane tank and figured out how to cut one up to make a cheap home made alternative. I want to say maybe around 2008. I, myself have made one. As this creation was not a protected design, manufacturers saw it, and ran with it, eventually thinning down the design to what you see April Yang playing here. Mass produced tuned steel tongue drum instruments were available by around 2010, iirc. Around 2015, knockoffs of proper Hang finally started to appear from china. Sweetwater even now sells a knockoff made in Columbia. Like a big ol’ middle finger to PANArt. :-) They could have sold out. They should have sold out. Now they missed their chance. Imagine Leo Fender only ever making one guitar at a time. The world would be a different place.
What is this magical instruments and why haven't I heard about it till date?!thank you April Yang for introducing me to kalimba and now these magical drums
@Harry Dickson do you know were I can get one for a low price but good quality under 100 buck ? (I'm poor so I can't afford more) I love tank drums / handpan / hang and kalimbas and harps XD , but I can only ''play'' very badly a kalimba
@MemeBot sad to see so many asians and africans group all europeans together, even europeans that were colonized by other europeans... can't state as a east european how frustrating it is to have half my family called a murderer and tief when in fact they are a victim...but if it looks white, it must be a monster. Sadest part is their former colonizers still look down on them, now the other so called races look down on them as well, at least they are used to the treatment, it's nothing new, but thus they are angry at themselves and everybody as well, the wounds don't heal. Side note I love the look on people's face when they seen my name after my face or vice versa and their whole world is toppled because they were racist with their own race or they thought I was one of them but I don't look the part (because I look only like my mom, my sister looks like my dad's mom, and my brother is kinda the only one that inherited some of my dad's looks and seems like a genuine mix of the two). Sad part about being half and half is you're not welcomed anywhere ever, not really, only when it's convenient and you're a token to be paraded around, but at least you get to see both sides.
I feel like a Chinese warrior staring towards the white snow covered mountain while on a dark horse with my suit and armory and my huge bamboo hat (edit: aight we be wearing helmet instead) with this song as my background edit: didnt imagine this wld blew up. thanks for those who point out how an actual Chinese warrior is dressed. i am aware just that at that moment, i imagined wearing a straw hat instead lol. but srsly i've learn from u guys so thanks. take care everyone esp in the midst of this pandemic

TimLimDimSims I agree with you. Even if people don’t like it, they don’t have to “dislike”. They can just pass and not comment. The music is beautiful.
I bought the tank drum because of this song, and it's beautiful! Now I have to learn how to play it. Are there any resources where I can find out how to learn it? I'm tired of trying to figure it out by constantly rewinding lol
