If you want to hear a song with Tarja i would highly recommend the live version of Ever Dream (End Of An Era DVD). Bonus: there is also a very good live version from Floor (Waken 2013) of this song. Not to start a who is better discussion but to appreciate both, since both are amazing singers!
Floor took one year of Classical Training and 4 years at a Rock Academy. With regards to the crowd, Floor had only been with Nightwish about 10 months at this concert. Nightwish lost their second singer (Anette) in Seattle, WA. and called Floor to come fill in and had not recorded an album with her, so unless the people at the concert had heard Floor with her previous bands (After Forever and ReVamp) they did not know what to expect until she started singing. Nightwish is huge in Europe. You need to hear Floor with just an acoustic guitar. Floor and Troy did a Nightwish song called How's the Hear acoustic at Planet Rock. You will get to hear her voice without the whole band and it is amazing!
This is important background, thank you. In all likelihood hood I tell a more dramatic version below but if anyone wishes to correct me please do: Nightwish parted company with Miss Olzen just prior to a show in Colorado. By just prior, this parting took place on the very day of the show. NW, unsure what to do, let the audiance know at the show that they had no singer. The fans were given the choice of being reimbursed or watching Nightwish perform with a pair of female singers from Nightwish's opening acts. Nightwish fans from Colorado refused to abandon their band! (If true, how very cool is that!) So there would be a show. Nightwish went backstage and did a very short practice with these two females and then took the stage with their fill in singers reading the lyrics. Nightwish's next gig was in Seattle, Floor Jansen was contacted and flown in for her first NW show.. Although Miss Floor knew the songs from both opening for Nightwish and imagining how she would sing them if she was their singer, she still had to learn all the lyrics and set list in an incredibly short time. Miss Floor said that this first show in Seattle made her nervous because there were so many Nightwish fans in the audience recording her 'every mistake' on their smart phones. I do not know if how I told the above story is entirely accurate but until corrected I love telling it that way. (I think that it is mostly true and my hat is off to those who attended and chose to remain at that show in Colorado!)
Depends on the country/genetics. I am ,nordic' and from the Netherlands myself and measure 1.77m. Which is small for a man here, nowadays. For a woman here, Floor is just tall but not a giant.
Great Nightwish song, I absolutely love this one. I will say million times how I love Jukka's drumming and his style 🥁❤ He's not the drummer anymore, he suffered imsomnia. The current drummer is Kai Hahto, but I never forget Jukka 🤘
This band has a great group of audio technicians that bring out the best sounds for a life band. I've personally never heard better audio for a life performance.

FYI, Tarja and Floor are friends and remain so. There was never any enmity between the two of them, especially as Floor replaced Anette NOT Tarja. Apoorly recorded version of 'Over The Hills and Far Away' (The Gary Moore cover) is available to watch on RU-vid, where Floor is invited to join Tarja on one of her solo performances. Floor's mic isn't high enough in the mix for my liking, but it does show the great affection that exists between the two friends.
When Nightwish asked Floor to be their new lead singer, the first thing she did was call Tarja and asked her permission. Tarja told her to go ahead she didn't care who was singer of Nightwish.
In the performance you mean, I can see Floor signalling to the sound people at least 4 times that her mic is too low and at last she is being rescued by Tarja!

Floor and Nightwish still brings tears to my eyes after all these years. Watching the videos and hearing them play at the same time has a powerful impact even now.
@@AMusicianandaJerk well, for my taste and since Floor is the current and "final" vocalist I recommend staying with her ,there are just way too many amazing songs with her from Wacken to bother going elsewhere,EverDream, Ghost River, Song of Myself, Amaranth, etc. and then theres the many YT solo songs like Alone, or her pivotal Beste Zangers 2019 performances of Phantom of The Opera, Shallow etc.
Try Wish I Had An Angel, live End Of An Era 2005...its the last song at the last concert with 1st singer, Tarja (Tar-Yuh). Same song by Floor at Wacken 2013!

Floor and Tarja did perform together once. After Tarja was no longer in Nightwish and Floor wasn't asked to join Nightwish yet. Don't believe there is official footage, but pretty sure there are some fanmade video's.

There's a video on RU-vid of Tarja and Floor singing together with Tarja's band. The song is "Over The Hills and Far Away", a Gary Moore song that Nightwish covered when Tarja was in the band. Looks like it was shot on a cellphone though, the quality is terrible.

Tarja the first female singer and Floor the present female singer are friends. Tarja invited Floor years ago at her solo concert. They sang together a Nightwish song. Sadly enough the sound quality was bad due to the fact that Floor's microphone wasn't working that we'll etc. During COVID-19 they did a livestream together.
Okay; official heights. Floor: 6' and a sneeze (but so often in high heels, so....). Tuomas is 6'2". Marko is 5'11". Emppu is 5'3". New bassist Jukka Koskinen is 6'1". Don't know the others.

Tarja is the other singer of Nightwish that you listened to....she has an operatic voice! I enjoy listening to her almost as much as I enjoy Floor. I think you might enjoy "Walking in the Air" ....sung by Tarja. You can listen to it live or in a fan made music video of the same song...and it's a much higher quality sound.

Actually the Netherlands are ranked nr 1 for tallest men, and tallest people in average, I believe that one of the Baltic states (not sure wich one) is ranked nr 1 for tallest women.

As with anything from this concert, Floor just nails everything. That said this is an Anette number from what several, including myself regard as Nightwish best album, Imaginaerum. Please ensure that your Nightwish journey includes examples from all three girls. There are very few Tarja or Anette numbers that Floor’s rendition is not at least as good, and very often more memorable than the original, but don’t let that you miss out on the first two Nightwish ladies.
Sleeping Sun is really nice a sweet song about an eclipse of the Sun and do check out Floors latest Pop/Soundtrack song there's a me without you. I think you'll like it.
So there are two other singers - Tarja who was the first and is operatic and Annette, who replaced her, and is poppy (and, in my opinion, has a little girl’s voice….). While Tarja is very tightly defined in her style with Nightwish, she was very good at what she did sing. An easy start for her is the cover of Phantom of the Opera with Marko in 2005. Also, Sleeping Sun album video. As for Annette….. really don’t advise watching anything live. Many people say Bye Bye Beautiful is her best song, which is quite amusing because she is really just a backup to Marko. Other than that……

You really think that Tuomas would have hired someone who can't sustain a note? Please. Anette wasn't too bad, and she was (is) a great performer. She had troubles to survive long tours, but she always gave everything she had, even if it cracked her voice. There is absolutely no reason to trash her.

Fact ,there is not one single vocal coach reaction to Anette that gave her any props for her vocal ability, she is in FACT an average singer anyone who is not capable of acknowledging that does not understand the voice.She was NOT picked for her vocal prowess but because she was so much the opposite of Tarja that Tuomas wanted to show that he could adapt DPP even tho it was not written for her and still make it successful.

As a guy, Tuomas did the classical reaction, as a guy, to a breakup - found the girl who was the absolute least like the Ex. And you don’t pick her because she’s hotter than the Ex, only because she is different - and meanwhile, all your friends are shaking their heads wondering how long it will take you to come out of the daze and realize the huge mistake you’ve made!
@@NightwishArena I’m in agreement with @nico d on Annette - she was a rebound mistake! However, I do appreciate Tarja in many ways but am realistic about her very limited vocal range. Within that, she was excellent. But neither can compare to the overall versatility and charisma that Floor brings to the band.
