Wintersun is finnish metal band from nations capitol Helsinki. Jari Mäenpää (guitar, leadsinger) is mastermind behind the band and Wintersun started as his soloproject while he was still playing in Ensiferum. Other wizards are Teemu Mäntysaari (guitar, backing vocals), Jukka Koskinen (bass, backing vocals also plays now in Nightwish) and human metronome Kai Hahto (drums, also drummer of Nightwish). Jari is only singing these days and they hired other guitarist Asim Searah. There is still two songs from same rehearsals Time and Land of Snow and Sorrow from Time 1 album. Forest Seasons album is great. Awaken From the Dark Slumber (spring), Forest That Weeps (summer), Eternal Darkness (autumn, the best black metal song for my opinion) and Loneliness (winter) all official lyric videos. First album Wintersun has really great songs like Death and Healing, Starchild, Winter Madness, Sadness and Hate, Starchild, etc. all official lyric videos. I really hope you continue with Wintersun. I was lucky enough to see this band play live in 2018! They played this song and it was UNBELIEVABLE live!!!! The entire venue was moving to this song!
Glad you are checking Wintersun! You guys have heard that lead vocalist before, Jari Mäenpää. He was the original vocalist for Ensiferum. You checked him out in "Lai Lai Hei". Also, Kai Hahto the drummer currently plays for Nightwish. So basically Finnish excellence.
could be that they channeled their inner ancient Finnish tribes men..! As even the vikings at the time thought the people in Finland are cursed, wielding sorcery and speaking an unheard language 😂 and any viking that tried to conquer Finland only had themselves laid into a grave hahah

Jari the leadsinger is the composer and perfektionist to THE BONE 🤗 He doesn't care how long a produktion takes. It is ready when he says so, Bastabum 😄 Kai Hahto, the drummer is now with Nightwish ( THE king of metal in Finland) Due to the former drummer in Nightwish, Jukka's illness, who asked Kai to take the stand. Sons (and daughters) of Winter and Stars! RISE!! The bass player is an introvert who's concentrating on what he does. (That's my theory). He might be totally different on stage too. This is rehearsal. "Oh just a little rehearsal, nothing special." Meanwhile they blow the whole internet away with this performance. lol. When someone asked Jari what type of metal they play, he said 'epic metal'. So there you have it. lol
Now that you've opened the Pandora's Box of Finnish Metal, you have a lot to look forward to. Just take a pick; Nightwish, Before the Dawn, Wolfheart, Mors Subita, Bloodred Hourglas, Amorphis, Diablo, The 69 Eyes, Northern, Children of Bodom and those are just a fiew.... Your reactions to Ensiferum and Wintersun were really fun 🤘🔥
Im sure Jari is a nice guy despite his vocals here. But also, they have more songs with clean, "normal" vocals. My favourite melody with clean vocals is in "Loneliness (Winter)" from the Forest Seasons album, the part that begins with 'Washed away...'. IYKYK
I go for a run every morning usually, without this specific song blasting in my ears (especially the last part) I probably couldn't make it past my driveway.
love how 99% of all reaction videos of wintersun goes , first omg this and that "normal" reaction , then silence not being able to comment and just being stunned by the lvl of music they hear . and then the real reaction . this is a metal masterpiece . not forced by money or time .
You guys picked one hell of a track to dive into this stuff deeper. The vocalist was the same original vocalist for Ensiferum, but he left to form Wintersun. Check out their first video, Beyond The Dark Sun. Shit is wild. Also look into a band called Norther. You'll probably dig them. Rock on, kids! 🤘❤️
Just found you guys. Great reaction, liked and subscribed. Wintersun is an epic band. It always blows my mind that the singer/guitarist Jari Mäenpää has only 1,5 lung. He lost part of his lung during his military time in Finland, tuberculosis I think it was. Anyhow, looking forward to see you guys in next reaction. There are Finnish Metal and Folk metal bands that you should check; mighty Nightwish, Amorphis, Korpiklaani, Children Of Bodom, Turisas, Apocalyptica, Ensiferum, Before the Dawn, Hallatar, Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum, Oranssi Pazuzu, Swallow the Sun, Wolfheart...
I believe they're considered Melodic Death Metal, w/ Power Metal elements. But, who likes labels. I think they should simply be label as AMAZING! Skål! - Wulf

Now your ship has arrived to coast of Finland, superpower of melodic metal. Check out Nightwish, Insomnium, Bloodred Hourglass, Battle Beast, Amorphis, Beast in Black.. You will not be dissapointed.
Love that song! ^.^ But there's still one band who does epic folk metal even better: Moonsorrow. Their best tracks are around 30 mins. But if you want their sound condensed into one awesome 10 minute track, definitly go for Jumalten Kaupunki.
Sure, Moonsorrow is a master of folky black metal, but it's also very much an acquired taste. Very hard to get a grasp with a single listen. My favorites are Pimeä, Jotunheim, Ruttolehto... and many others ;)
@@markopuranen5910 That's true. They're not nearly as accessible as Wintersun. But they're more rewarding in the long term, I think. Deep slow-burn compositions that take you on truly epic journeys!
This band is so good like Amon Amarth good if not better not growling well sort of but traditional pagan throat singing actually the same as Amon Amarth find traditional pagan folk, not metal even and same singing style even. Kia from Nightwish now for the last 2 tours I think Kia is so good man he is fire drummer one of the best ever.
I commented on another reaction they need to do LB. Anyone who has not heard them, is missing the best current metal band period. Their talent is of another world!
Man, such great virtuosos, pffft. And give that drummer a break please! Now I know why he's drumming for that other Finnish metal band. Not just for the pecunia. He's having a long paid vacation.
Probably an unpopular opinion, but that song tires me out not even half way through. I used to like it more than I ended up. Just too much going on for me at any given time. Sounds messy and all over the place (meaning, no clear direction). I suppose it's meant to be like that. If it didn't fatigue me so much, I'd be able to acquire a taste for it.
