Absolutely no idea how this popped into my feed, but I found it fascinating and even learned a thing or two. The sense of pride in every employee was evident. Really cool vid. Thanks for enlightening me on this magnificent aircraft👍
I have almost 700 hours in a caravan flying for Fedex and for the last year and a half I’ve been flying the PC 12. I love both of these airplanes because of what they’re capable of and what you can do with them. Seeing that there is something that is close to a blend of these two airplanes is something I am extremely excited about. And the price point is extremely appealing. I would absolutely love to yoke one of these. Maybe some day.
You've pictures from the Kodiak 100 P2 NTK! It's flown in PNG from Ryan. Great plane - the new one, too! What I like about this film is that you show the people who built & tested it.
The speed improvement is actually more than what is claimed. A K 100 with the pod cruise at about 165 Kts at 10000 . It is a completely different aircraft. Still need to see the POH to get more ideas . Only the price is the bad news !
BEAUTIFUL Airplane. I'm torn between the PILATUS PC-12NGX and this... Both are amazing. Think I'd still go with Pilatus PC-12 NGX but also want this. But it Doesn't matter because I can't afford either unfortunately
100 is a bush plane capable of landing almost anywhere a 206 can, but hauling 2 more people and cruising a bit faster and burning kerosene. 900 is focused on cruise speed, with unimproved field capability, but needing more runway length. The interior is nicer also. The 900 seems like it is after some of the pc12/caravan market, but also looking to capture some government program buys.
LMAO ou are so right, do you want a gorgeous woman or an ok looking smart woman who knows what she is doing ? High wing is the SUV of planes, but you can see the ground, not the wing., and if landing in brush, yoiu might get one landing with a low wing. modern SUV, you could remove the names and tags and many could not tell them apart, that is ALL SUV's are effing ugly, but sell like mad.
Beautiful & Sleek Looking aircraft. My feedback as an A&P / Mechanical Engineer: ***Refueling panel, at the base of LH wing, is in a very wrong location.*** It should have been at a better location, likely inboard of brace on RH wing. Dis-Advantages of this current refueling panel location: **1) Clutter at LH wing:** LH side is already cluttered with many personnel during a short stop (like Baggage Handlers, Concierge & pilot) getting plane ready for the next hop. So fuel guy should be on the other side. **2) Vehicular Clearance:** Refueling trucks in US & many other nations are LH steering wheeled. Thus driver has better clearance sense driving a radiational Refueling truck approaching LH wing. **3) Ergonomics:** Not ergonomic for a single person holding a heavy pressurized refueling hose reaching current refueling location while standing at LH wheel pant. A single mishap can easily damage the window, spill on beautiful paint job, or give a bad back injury to refueler. If I ever own a Kodiak 900, I will do this modification myself. Just looking out for general public, if responsible at MFG wants this comment removed, LMK.
Apologies for being a lowly single owner/pilot of a 2016 Cessna 510 but that isn't exciting at all. I have also owned a Grand Caravan and it was competent in most conditions however when there's a decent headwind or a cell that needs avoiding? Nothing beats a twin VLJ that is up at FL410 just 25 minutes from leaving the runway.
First of all…excellent production value. Yes it’s a beautiful plane…the wheel pants suggest vintage yet the body is all function. Value routes are protected. Out of left field algorithm suggestion. Thanks Algorithm!
Yeah I figured if this is so fantastic and it came in my feed, this must be affordable or some fractional share. Nope just part of the 99% who can’t afford this.
I love the TBM, and the thought that Daher is now holding the reins excites me. I'm in the market for a new single engine and the new Kodiak has made the choice even harder. The TBM 950 vs the Kodiak 900 is two different mission types I know, but either would work for me. Damm you Daher, I thought I had made up my mind:-)
I follow, ‘ BUSH MOUNTAIN PLOT, IN PNG, they are a missionary service there, where they fly some rugged grass sips, some as much as 25Degree grass strips, RYAN, IS ST OSHKOSH show as we speak, have a grad show,, 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
So I know you guys went through a lot of R&D, time, and effort into designing the wheel skirts. Is there an option or plan to allow for oversized tires for bush flying? Or are they extremely integrated into the structure of the aircraft?
Now just make a similar 152 and 172 version aircraft and you would dominate new single engine market. Nobody makes trainers anymore and Textron is on their ass
@@johnpooky84 it's a 2/3 caravan that cessna should have built. This nicely filled the gap between the 206 and 208. Cessna never would have made the 900 though, especially with the new PC12 clone their making. Daher took an excellent aircraft and made it a whole new beast. I expect this to knock a few caravan sales out for people needing the utility but wanting more speed.
What music are you playing in the intro? Composer, singers etc. Just wondering if it has something to do with the deeper thought someone put into this video and really emphasizing the meaning and origins of the word Kodiak.
If the 900 is the same as the 100. You need to add inhibitors like Prist when flying in outside temp below 5 degrees C . You cannot get Pre/mixed everywhere so you have to climb on top and refill from the wing caps… I don’t think they will or have developed a fuel heater like the latest pc 12
Very cool, but why is it still not pressurized? And if switching up the powerplant, why not use the 1200SHP PT6A-67A (like the Epic E1000)? Both the Kodiak 900 and Epic E1000 have the same MTOW of 8,000lbs.
For the flight missions it is designed for, a pressurised cabin isnt required, like the Caravan, it’s primary customers are going to use it for short hops.
06:09 'the PT6A-140A is the highest rated SMALL PT6 that Pratt and Whitney has come out with'. So they obviously felt they needed to stay with the smaller class of PT6 for packaging reasons on this aircraft.
Pressurization is heavy, and would require a different window design.weight reduces speed due to drag, which requires more power and that requires more fuel, which causes more drag. I wouldn't be surprised if they do make a pressurized version in the future.
@@electricaviationchannelvid7863 money. fairings, pod and cowlings don't cost what a new wing does. Considering that they have the TBM, I doubt the investment is worth it.
