Great product. We use the Pedal Pods in our studio for testing new products and for artists visits. We constantly reconfigure the board for different playing situations. The internal power and loops make it really flexible. Since each pod has two loops you can pack a tone of pedals on this board. Built really well, never had an issue.

I own one of these. It is absolutely awesome! No loss of signal, built like a tank. The back lighting is not only attractive but useful for making pedal changes during blackout between songs. Super knowledgeable people with excellent customer support. Not as complicated as it appears and they will help you design and assemble. I run two stereo pedals in the chain with no problems. Love my board!!!!!!!!!!!

Gruser, Thank you for the comment. I used an industrial design firm to help come to the final form. The look is meant to reflect ruggedness. We also had to make design consideration for strengths and injection molding limitations. These pods paint nicely and I'm currently playing with hydro dipping the pods with different effects. I'll post them to the site in the coming months.

This is one of the best products I ever purchased. Being a bass player, I am able to add and subtract pedals all the time depending on the gig. I bought extra plates for the ease of switching pedals out. It saves so much time from me needing to reconfigure my whole board. I highly recommend everyone to switch to a PedalPod board. This thing has the best isolated power I have ever used. Two simple words: “No Hum!”

As someone who doesn't have a pedal board(only a multiFX) this is very attractive. After I read a reply by Eric Frederich to another comment below about investing in a board you may out grow it really made me think about the process of switching boards and adding peddles, etc. It really made me think about the wiring headache. Any scenario I think about such as recouping a little cost from selling the old board or putting in the work to build one, it doesn't beat the simplicity and features the Pedal Pods give you. It's important to me the audio quality is great and you made it very clear how it was very important to you in the design. The "kit" makes it all the more attractive to me, instead of also having to research which patch cables I should get, board, etc. I think all of that makes it highly attractive to someone just starting to buy pedals whether they are a new player or a seasoned player. I think cable quality is important because those who read or watch reviews from their trusted sources, they will hear if the cables are low quality & they might think whats the point in buying the kit? out goes part of the simplicity and adds back in extra work. The video was great in covering all the information! Great details! I look forward to investing in Pedal Pods in the future!

I've used one of these for the last 9 months and absolutely love it. I will not go back to a "traditional" style pedalboard again! I got tired of fixing patch cables and reconfiguring my board. I also have an expensive "digital" board, that sits in its case now. I put this in one of my old pedalboard softcases, same dimensions as my old board.

I use a lot of fuzz and distortion with my bass and ive had no problems with noise or buzzing. It was easy and fun to build. And i have plenty of space to stomp the correct pedal with my size 13 boots. 🤘🏼🤘🏼 Great product!!!

This is a very imaginative concept which will certainly find a market - probably the more modern sounding players and those with pedalboards of 7 or more. I personally enjoy tinkering with my Pedaltrain Nano+ and my board is always tidy in terms of wires and patch cables. Gravitating from velcro to power grip tape means they are all well secured. I also have the backpack which makes transporting super easy. So a no for me, but for those who struggle to organise their board, and are constantly changing multiple pedals, it’s a hassle free solution.

Pedal Pods are a revolutionary idea that any guitarist or stompbox fanatic should seriously consider. After meeting Jerry and Rick at a show where they showed me a demo board and explained the concept to me, I was impressed and asked them to work with me to help me build one for myself. I think the the most genius aspect of these boards is the integrated power. Say goodbye to big power distribution bricks that have to live under your board and are always running out of power connections. With Pedal Pods, you have more power possibilities than you will ever be able to find with any other kind of pedalboard solution. *Each* pod can power up to two pedals with up to 500ma draw which means you will always have enough power for large sized effects units with 200-400ma draws. And each pod has a switch to select between 9, 12, 15 and 18 volt! This is unheard of with any other power solution. A board of 8 pods gives you 16 power connections! That's twice the power connections of any power brick. And because Pedal Pods are modular, if you get more pedals, you can just keep adding more pods and you will *never* run out of power. My own board is comprised of 24 pods and is powering 16 effects, some of which are large pedals such as Line 6 DL4, Boss DD-500, Digitech XP300 and the Pedal Pods gas pedal power solution powers them ALL. If you used Pedal Pods for only one application, this alone is worth it in my opinion. And to address to interviewers comment about the spacing of pedals on the board, see this photo of my board: instagram.com/p/B7gxU1GhoSe/? As you can see, you can still space your pedals however you want just as you would with any other board. Beyond power solution alone, the additional features of the system are just as ingenious. The pods can be used as a signal flow management system with each pods built in Category 5 cable connections. The advantages of this system are the ability to use the two loops (as A/B or stereo configurations), practically no-noise, and the ability to route your signal between effects anywhere all over the board without long patch cables and having absolutely no cables visible. And the best part is every pod comes with all the cables and peripheral materials you will need. You don't have to use the Cat 5 cable system though. If you want, you can patch your effects traditionally as you would with any other board, and still conceal and route the cables underneath inside each pod for a clean look and just use the Pedal Pods system for its power distribution, modular expand-ability, and colorful LED lighting options if you purchase the optional translucent top plates. If you are always adding new units to your board, constantly rearranging your effects around, care about tonal quality, or just want an all-in-one solution that covers everything you need for your effects, then Pedal Pods offer something that you simply will not find anywhere else.

I think it is a genius idea. I have a few points to critique and suggest though. 1. It looks a bit cheap and fragile (even if it actually isn't) due to the material and huge gaps between the pods. Especially the gaps though! I would like to see pods that can build a nearly uninterrupted surface. (I know its hard to do die to tolerances and the molding process of the plastic parts, but instead of this huge chamfer I would rather see a really small radius edge rounding.) For material it is even harder to take for example aluminum cases like normal pedals to at the price point that you are offering but I would gladly pay 20 bucks more for an aluminium case with only thew translucent top plate, which is a suuuper cool idea (especially with the LED underneath) 2. I would love to see a few different sizes. A horizontal (for the wider pedals) as well as a vertical (for expression pedals etc) double-pod would be awesome for bigger pedals. They would easily fit with the other pods. It just looks nicer that way. I bet I am just as fanatic about having everything tidy as you are! 3. You have these integrated bypass loops that you have to switch with the dip switch. Please make them remote controllable and develop a switcher module that can control the connected pod loops. Ideally it would have the ability to do "stompbox mode" where you switch each pod individually and "preset mode" where it can switch multiple loops at once. (Good sizes would be 4, 6 and 8 pods wide with double the amount of buttons each wo accomodate for a second row of pedals. Ideally one would also be able to set some pods as "always on loops" these are just a few ideas that would make me personally really happy though!) Imagine! A pedalboard with seamlessly integrated power-supply and true bypass looper/switcher. BEST THING EVER!!!

love the thought out modular design especially the electronic boards, but there's got to be a way to make it smaller, cheaper and have a cover. or alternatively, make it more complex, maybe integrate a programmable switcher module, these are really expensive by themselves and maybe then the price and bulk will be justified.

Michael, Thank you for your comments. I want to start off by saying I also wish I could get the price point lower (trust me... I tried). I was unwilling to sacrifice quality for cost. Every component was vetted and I had to make the sometimes hard determination what I could accept and what I could not. Other outside pricing factors that I could not control was the trade war (tariffs) and increased freight. If you would like to consider our solution, feel free to contact me and we'll see if I can get creative on pricing. jerry.calder@mypedalpods.com

In short I love this idea. I'm a novice guitarist with modest needs and my peddle collection only consists of a lonely compressor so far. I expect that to change over the next few years. I won't be going out and buying half a dozen peddles because I have no idea what I want to get yet. This would allow me the convenience of not only growing my collection slowly but having a functional board that grows with them at the same time. In all fairness the price point is right on the line but I get why it is what it is. I can easily see coming back to this when it comes time to start my peddle board.

I've been using PedalPods for almost a year and I absolutely love them. My board is still evolving so the Pods make perfect sense for me. Right now I use five pedals in two rows of three pods--I doubled up two mini pedals. This thing is clean, modular, is built like a tank, and dead quiet. When assembled the board is as rigid as any other and it's not as bulky as you might think. Our guitar players have other brands of boards and the Pedal Pods are roughly the same profile.

For those of us just getting into guitar this is great. The idea of not outgrowing your board. Today I own a single pedal, the DigiTech Trio+ with the FS3X add-on. I also have the GA-FC 6-button controller for my Boss Katana. Already I want a board because it's becoming a mess moving my stuff between our music room to the driveway. Or even within our music room I don't keep the pedals in the middle of the room. I have to put them behind the amp when I'm done. So... I want a board but afraid to invest in one I may outgrow in 3 months or 6 months.

I have been using one of these for a while now and absolutely love it. The modular design is great if I need to break it down when my band has to travel light. It is super quiet and built with quality parts. Each pod came with patch cables, power cables and cat cable. Basically everything you need. I was in the market for a smaller board for travel dates and the cost of the build ended up being shockingly close. Opted to go this route because it saved me from having two boards. I switched from a voodoo lab board to this and haven't looked back.

I have a Pedal Pod board. Everything stated here is accurate, but I don't think the flexibility was emphasized enough. Aside from expandability, it's so easy to drop in a pedal somewhere on the board, even if it doesn't look neat. There are 2 loops in each pod and 2 power supply connections in each. I dropped a TC Electronics Ditto in the middle of my board and set the loop and was ready to go. I've had mine for about 6 months now and I keep finding new advantages over more traditional setups. Not going to try and explain it all in a brief post. It's very cool. Size is not an issue, sound quality is great, flexibility amazing. I've also connected a USB light to the USB port so I can see the board no matter the conditions. It takes a while to catch up to what these guys have engineered. Give it a try.

On the plus side, it looks convenient and the power supply is impressive, the end result is something that looks neat. On the not so positive side, my current pedal train has 9 pedals arranged for fit and convenience and their position is not related to signal flow. Here it seems you would be arranging your pedals in signal chain order. No biggy, but might end up in a bigger board and in some of the places I've played with a larger band, space is limited - having the gas module on the side providing power adds to this issue. A battery option would be a good thing. I use my board with a Power LT XL and that makes a big difference in setup time (no scrabbling for the nearest mains outlet). In the grand scheme of things it's not expensive (except for the cases perhaps), but a new module is around about the same price as a lot of pedals, thus doubling the investment when you buy a new pedal.

I gotta say, I'm pretty excited about this. One thing I wish I could get for buffered bypass pedals is something that you could plug into and have a stomp to just bypass the pedal path. You could leave a buffered pedal on, like a JRAD Archer, and just hit another switch to get true bypass by just bypassing the pedal complete.

I just have to say that, as a Richmond, VA native, I'm glad to see another innovative company come from the area (Glen Allen is about 20 minutes away!). However, as someone with 20 years of guitar playing and pedalboard building experience, there's a few things that don't seem to be addressed, and some ideas that would be super cool to implement. 1. I run a EHX Hum Debugger at the front of my chain. My home studio is very noisy - lots of EMI - and it's the only thing I've found that has been able to manage noise levels in my studio. It runs on 7.5V, which is, admittedly, very odd. It would be cool to have a box that just has the audio in/outs, omitting the power chain, but has a direct AC plug inside. That could work for numerous pedals that take awkward voltages, work off AC instead of DC, or older/vintage pedals that have AC cables directly wired to the unit. 2. The "brain" or whatever you call it takes up valuable space that could be reworked a bit. Moving the ins and outs to the side, as well as the other ins and outs, could make for a comprehensive chain management system while still allowing a pedal to sit on top of it. 3. It'd be really cool to have "under board" pods, where a pedal could be placed underneath. I'd love to, for example, run that Hum Debugger under my board, as it basically always stays on and stays in one setting. Buffers offer a similar case. Maybe the empty boxes could work for this? 4. Complex setups, like loop switchers, MIDI, remote buttons, etc. should also be a consideration. I run a Morningstar MC8 on my board that MIDI controls 8 devices (4 of which use TRS, the other 4 use 5-pin DIN), a DPC.micro (3 loop switcher, controlled by MIDI as well), and I'm getting ready to throw on an OBNE Signal Blender (parallel loop blender) on my board to have two loopers running in parallel with my clean signal. Some way to manage more than just audio and power would be a really great idea. 5. Cases and bags. Obviously, you can't do a one-size-fits-all kind of setup, but, I tell you, I've been looking for a bag for my Emerson 32x18 board for a year. I don't really want a hardshell road case because I mainly play at home and some local venues around town. And I'm not going to take a pedalboard out that has no bag - I've seen too many of them in that state stolen from people's cars between gigs when they're openly exposed. The only option, because of the 18" dimension, and the fact that it's actually 33" wide, is to have one custom made, sight unseen. Maybe some sort of collaboration with a local artisan bag builder would make for a really great one-stop shop. Cool idea. I dunno if it's for me, but I'm glad to see some innovation in this area.

Well thumbs up for the power supply! I' d really like to see this become smaller.. I disagree about the easier hookup because it's not. The amount of time I would need to rewire a common pedalboard is needed here for the screws in case I want to put a pedal among others. A clipping attaching could solve that though...

Stavros, Thank you for your comment. YES, I'm very proud of the power supply. Regarding the time to rewire the board is quicker IF you take into consideration remaking audio cables, power cables and proper wire management. The "clipping attaching" was tested during the prototyping and development phase. I tested a handful of different fasteners with very good luck BUT they could not hold up the the drop and abuse test (AKA the TSA Test) we put the boards through. If you have an idea for a better fastener I would love to see it and test it. Feel free to email me: jerry.calder@mypedalpods.com . Best regards, Jerry

I don't care much for the 1/4 on top and would prefer the standard 1/4 jack placements to the back and or side. Additionally build one box that fits most existing power supply underneath so you can use that space for more pedals on top. I would like to see more examples of this board in multiple cases like mono, pedal-train, gator, etc... Color box options would be nice. I would look at the empty boxes as a more realistic option since the deluxe option would be extremely costly for my needs. Good alternative I'm just not ready to pull the trigger yet.

It looks like a really good idea in general. But it also looks like you will get fewer pedals per square foot than on a pedaltrain. The pedals are more separated due to the modular design. Maybe make PODS that are large enough and carry enough power for 2 pedals t a time to allow them to be more tightly packed. And, perhaps a POD that size would more reasonably fit larger pedals like the Stomp or the Strymon stuff.
@pedalpods6382
@pedalpods6382 4 года назад
Steve, Thank you for your comment. You are correct on pedal density. You can mount pedal between each POD and I do have two power ports in each POD to give you the ability to power multiple pedals. This solution was designed to maintain a clean look while giving you room to easily engage your pedals. The modular design allows you to expand your board as you grow your pedal inventory. If you visit the gallery on our site (mypedalpods.com/pages/endless-possibilities) you will see different applications and configurations. I will say that it’s cool to hear that it powers 650 mA. Using a pedal that draws 500 mA from a power supply that puts out 500 mA makes me nervous. Knowing that you’re not using 100% capacity is comforting and it seems like a lot of pedals draw 500 mA.

Hi Henning, again an interesting video that only scratches my surface because I'm a home/hobby player and also due to monetary reasons more into the modelling side of (guitar)life. But I 100 % get the concept and it's really innovative and I like it. The player that already built his "perfect" pedalboard don't need it, but there are tons of players outside that have 2 or more pedalboards to just fulfill the requirements they are going for the next gig/studiosession and and and. So I think this system is super convenient for people like Henning to make a "studio" almost mobile. If I'd ever start to build a pedal board again (yes, I had 4 back in the 90s) I'd definitely go for that stuff!

Great idea but you might could offer the basic pod itself in other colors than black. Plastic can be made in different colors!. What if you have a single pedal or 2 that is always on and sits in the back of a rack? Alot of people, myself included, simply have them velcroed in there. The good looks a bit big for that application.
@pedalpods6382
@pedalpods6382 4 года назад
Wade, Thank you for your comment. The challenge with manufacturing is you have minimum run expectations. I have to produce 1000 of a given color at a time. Now if I offer 5 different colors that a minimum of 5000 units I must pay for, ship, warehouse, and inventory. On top of that, someone would probably want a color I don't current produce or have in stock. We are a small company that was founded and funded internally. I simply can't afford the inventory or the challenges that come with it. That's why we spent a little extra to get pre-primered plastic so people can personalize the Pods however they want. I'm currently testing Hydro Dipping Pods. Amazing graphics and effects. Best of luck Wade... Jerry

Pretty cool system. Price does seem pretty reasonable, although it could get pretty expensive for bigger boards. I have around $450 invested in my main board (board, power supplies, patch cables), but I have 12 pedals on my board, so this seems like it would be considerably more expensive. Worth it, probably, just not for everyone.
@pedalpods6382
@pedalpods6382 4 года назад
Jonathan, Thank you for your comment. As the system scales the price per pedal actually starts to go down. When you add in upgrading your board to a larger size, additional power supplies, cables, etc. (apples to apples comparison on quality components and power). If you factor your time into the equation its a BIG savings. A board that holds 12 pedals would take me about an 1.5 hours to build (using a powered screwdriver - NOT recommended BTW) and YES I'm very familiar/competent in building this solution. Thank being said, 2.5 - 3 hours for most people is probable about right. This isn't meant to be a down and dirty board. We truely designed this to be the last pedalboard you'll ever have to buy. Read some of the comments from Pedal Pod owners and I think you'll see what I talking about. Best of luck to you Jonathan... Jerry

I like the idea. He has a point about accidentally stepping on pedals that are placed too close together when performing. Guitarists tend to focus on real estate economy over practical functionality (I'm definitely guilty of this). Constructive criticism; I don't love the color grey of the plastic - looks cheap (even though it's not). I think a main issue for these types of solution based boards is that guitarists, that have already invested into the more traditional pedalboared systems, have to make the leap into a new system.

Patrick, Thank you for your comment. I agree with everything you're saying. I picked the grey to contrast the black. First of all I do like the idea of this modular board. Nevertheless I have some smaller critic points: * I don't like the white see-through cover. It looks a bit cheap. The painted ones look better. But I like the idea of the see-through one. Maybe you could come up with a different material and/or design for that cover. * I don't mind that the bottom parts are made from plastic. But maybe you can do a nice coating on it, e.g. like on cover of the "brain" thing. It looks simply a bit nicer. But in my opinion there are some more serious issues with the design, too: * First I understand that you need a bit of space between the cover to get the cables out to the pedals. But I'm afraid that over time there will gather dust and dirt inside. This might not be an issue if you just have standard wiring inside, but with I'm afraid it might affect the power supply over time - which seems to be an excellent by the way. And I'm also afraid that liquids won't do any good. (I'm talking from experience: I spilled once some scotch over my lenovo laptop keyboard which also had a drain hole, but still the good whisky *sniff* managed to destroy the the keyboard...luckily not the laptop itself). So maybe you can build some rubber cover for the cable slot where the cables can be put through but it closes around them and seals the inside off a bit. * Secondly - if I understood it correctly - when using the the power supply option, you are bound to two loops. This is a bit of a drawback in my opinion. With two loops you will be able to use the four cable method. That is fine. But when someone invests in your modular pedal board, he or she will use a lot of pedals. And if you have a lot of pedals you will probably not want to step dance. SO you have will have a looper-switcher of some sort. And I don't see how such a device can work with you current design. To solve this you can maybe replace the little switches that you have for bypass or add to a loop by relays. Those relays should be than be triggered by midi. If you then connect a standard midi foot controller to the "brain"-module you wouldn't need any looper-switcher. I'm afraid my idea might be not be cheap to implement, but looper-switchers are also not cheap.

I have a problem with the aesthetics. My pedals certainly won't go on a board made of plastic. Aluminum yes, wood yes but that kinda looks ridiculous imho. Also, it should connect way more seamingless so you should get rid of the beveled edges so that it looks like one peace when more modules are connected. Then make it black so that it stands out as least as possible. The "gaspedal" is wasted space that could easily hold one pedal if the connectors were on the backside. To be honest, I would like that whole concept way better if the modules are the size of three normal pedals or so. Like a pedaltrain nano. So you can add additional rowes or double the lenght. Then make the pods more like a wedge so that it is slightly tilted.

the thing that would bring over the top would be to be able to midi configure it to change the order of pedals. also, they could have covers that could be sold separately to make easier to carry them around and bring them on planes and stuff (like the Schmidt Array stuff), I guess that you can't make eeeeevery configuration, but you could sell them in like 4, 6, 8 or 12 modules configurations.

even if it brings the cost up a little bit, the midi configuration and the cover would bring them to a higher quality market. Also in the demo, it would be nice to see how two pedals (maybe mini pedals) can be connected to one of the blocks aaaaaaaaaand also, going crazy and connecting 4 (two on each power supply in the block) that are compatible sharing power to see how it stands with noise issues and those kinds of things. you know that guitar players always have more pedals and want to put as much as possible on their boards.

There are also soft cases from companies like Mono that work great. You can purchase handles for your board and simply carry it with you ( Examples: mypedalpods.com/pages/endless-possibilities ). Rick has toured with the board for a couple of years with no issues and we also have other players that have used the solution for about a year now with no issues (see some of there comments on this video). I'be got an idea. Could you offer them in three sizes? The size they are now, double wide and tripple wide? That would allow accommodating various pedal sizes without using extra pods. The larger ones should be able to be offered with a very nominal upgrade price and would allow a ton more options to the player.

Tom, Thank you for your comment. I originally looked at having different sizes BUT once you mixed and matched them the geometer didn't work. The other consideration was the number of molds we would need to have made as well as inventory and logistic considerations. The current size (single Pod) was designer to work with 80% of the pedals out there and combining them made it possible to accommodate almost all the pedals out there. Thank you for your feedback and good luck to you Tom... Jerry

I'm a little late to comment but I just saw this. Idea looks great in terms of being neat , tidy and flexible but honestly as a novice, the set up looks intimidating. 1. It's a new design so no local store will be able to help you with hands on set up. I think there needs to be a lot of simple instructional videos on how to set it up both ways, with electronics and without. Update- I just looked up all their instructional videos. They missed their development purpose completely. Supposed to be simple to set up and expand. It's anything but that! They've also turned off comments on their chanel , so what? They don't want to hear people's concerns / questions in general. No thank you! This is a typical case of technology trying hard to better things but causes option paralysis instead.

Unless I have misunderstood, I think those that use switchers and midi etc are going to struggle to consider this. I love it from the power point of view, but would have to manually cable up, which for me would not justify the price point. But for those that tap dance on the pedals, this is a really interesting concept, but I fear that the market would be small for these. I wonder what future revisions might be.

The spacing of pedals contributes to making them discrete and clearly delineated, which aids in selection during performance. Emphasize that during the heat of performance you want to see what you’re doing, be able to select accurately, and to not miss, and activate an unintended wrong pedal. Many pedals are color-coded; however, the ability to color-code with highly visible background illumination is additionally helpful during performance on a darkened or dim stage. People are visual creatures, and many sales are made through a sense of urgency; I would focus on marketing the cool visual factor - so that when people see it they want it - which means display it in a darkened environment, and emphasize the colored LED backgrounds changing. Close with the above selling points. Mechanically inclined people that are into studying gear and chasing tone will figure it out; however, a number of artists will require a technician to build it for them. Staff a position prepared to field a lot of consumer tech questions; consider providing assembly services, developing a network of service providers, and in store retail training.

Great concept! For me i'm not super keen on the plastic design of the casing, looks cheap / fragile even though it isn't! It'd be interesting if there was a pod that was maybe 150% of the size of the standard pod which could fit two pedals, i personally prefer the look of pedals when they are less spaced out, this looks more like a demo / studio pedalboard rather than something i could see myself using on the road. Love the concept though!

If you go to our gallery you'll see Ricks SUV pulled up on three of them with no issues at all. We did play with different sizes but at the end it was challenging to get the geometry to work. The other consideration was the number of molds we would need to have made as well as inventory and logistic considerations. You're last point regarding demo/studio applications is spot on. Good concept but if they the keep the power supply pod (With the USB Connector and the 2 jacks) as an area for pedals on the top and the connectors below it or on the side then. you are talking about a viable system. Guitar Gear, Thank you for your comment. The original design had the power and audio connections on the side. One night during a show Rick was playing the board and the Bass player accidentally kicked the cables on Ricks board causing them to come unplugged as well as damaging one of the cables. After the cell phone flashlight game and a couple of minutes of downtime Rick was up and playing again. I relocated ALL the connections to the top of the "Gas Pedal" to make them more secure and easier to see if there is ever a issue. Giving up one pedal location is a small price to pay for convenience and security don't you think? Good luck to you... Jerry

After all of this, my conclusion is, if the pedal industry can standardize on form factors and connectors, we wouldn't need this product. This product is neat. I think we are at the point in technological development where we should even eliminate the CAT cable. Just put the pods together like lego. No wires in between the pods, just flat connectors with all of the pins you need. That way people can rearrange stuff quickly. Maybe do that for the TS cables going from the pedal to the board as well. Flat connectors on the side, and then a cable with one TS end and one flat connector end. Should be easy with ribbon cables.

@@pedalpods6382 how about the card edge connector idea? @Parcolai
@Parcolai 4 года назад
@@pedalpods6382 okay, I just read up on it and cat5 is low cross talk and low interference because of physically twisted pairs of wire. @@Parcolai Good morning Lai, The connector is the key. This gives the user the ability to reconfigure pedal order easily and its also the quietest connection. The original PCB had a ribbon cable. Holy crap seems like a great idea! I'm constantly rewiring my board and never have enough space for all my pedals. I'm also a vocalist so I can't have a ridiculously large board because it becomes too cumbersome swapping effects while singing (got 15 pedals for live playing atm)... Like the cable management, the height adjust, power supply options - saw the gallery photos. Looks like one pod will take a Strymon nicely, or two mini pedals. Only suggestion would be larger and/or different size/shape pods and as N M says below, perhaps true bypass and MIDI.
@pedalpods6382
@pedalpods6382 4 года назад
Steve, Thank you for the comment and kind words. Regarding a different size pod, I looked at that in the beginning BUT had issues with getting the overall geometry to work. The other consideration was the cost of additional molds and inventory. I selected this size because it fit the majority of the pedals out there and I included the two power ports in each pod to accommodate two mini pedals. Regarding the true bypass and midi; when the selector switch is in "Bypass" it truly is true bypass. In order to completely take the pedal out of the loop I would need to create a switcher (I have that design on paper). Midi is the hard one... Space on the boards, Chip set, Software and Licensing. I just couldn't make the pricing work. The good news is I left plenty of room to wire manage the midi internally between pedals.
