A New Light REACTS to The Taken King 

The Dreadnought, Oryx's ship if you wish to know is massive. As in its length is estimated to be a minimum of 3,000 miles and a max or about 3,500 miles. Basically it's as long or longer than our moon's diameter.

Cant see that anyone else mentioned it so I'll say that the mission in the black garden to find tevis was hunter exclusive. Titans get a mission on mercury with zavala to find a flaming hammer and unlock sunbreaker and warlocks have a mission on venus to learn to control lightning and become a stormcaller Each was a new subclass added in the expansion. Void for hunter, solar for titan and arc for warlock. All the subclasses from this expansion are in d2 too

In fact, you see one of the three possible sword options in this video, "Razelighter", which is the flaming sword the player was using near the end.

Also for some context, supremely powerful hive such as Oryx and Crota have their own essentially pocket dimensions called throne worlds. These throne worlds act as a safeguard for ascendant hive from death, and they can only truly be killed within those throne worlds, we didn't actually kill oryx in the final mission, but we did in a raid that came a few days after taken king release

btw because this, once again, isn't explained in any cutscene: Eris' rock isn't a rock, it's a piece of Ahamkara, or Wishdragon, bone, yes destiny has dragons lol, or had, they've all been wiped out before the game even starts and her saying it's whispering again is literal, ahamkara bones still hold some conscience and power and whisper to their owners every guardian can be resurrected by thir ghost, but gosts can die and if the darkness in an area is to much they also can't res you without help (the lore explanation why you need teammates to res you in boss fights and such) the significance of the card is that cayde marks things with playing cards for himself, also he got ressed the first time with a notboke that said he had a wife, who he refers to as the queen of hearts, and a son called ace cayde also very quickly became a fan favorite, so did amanda holiday also yeah cabal don't do alliances, either you join their empire and accept their rule, you get forced to, or you get destroyed, they're literally space romans, salted earth and all, to the point their legions get exiled when they take out on a war campaign and are only allowed back home if they are victorious also just because it came up the subclass names, for hunter you have bladedancer (arc), gunslinger (solar), and nightstalker (void), for warlock you have stormcaller (arc), sunsinger (solar) and voidwalker (void) and for titan you have striker (arc), sunbreaker (solar) and defender (void) though some of the names changed with destiny 2 you are worrying to much about being a little mean to the people who turned genocide into a religion terra 😂 yes he indeed did take himself, the final fight where we actually kill him is once again in the raid eris saying "my queen" is her talking to mara sov it's so funny how convinced you are eris is gonna betray us or not, I'm not saying she is or isn't but i definitely didn't think that back in the day 😂 don't know how common that theory was though

I wonder if this channel had any footage for the Raids? Not a spoiler since you should have already seen at this point; you really kill Crota for real in a raid called "Crota's End", which should be chronologically before this video. I never did it myself so I don't know how he wound up alive after the DLC campaign, but I'm sure it'd put some of the things in this video into a little bit of context, maybe. We didn't just shoot hit him up when he was trapped in a rock, we outright killed him at his strongest

Taken King is peak Destiny to me. The tone, the way it expands the universe and lore, the music, everything about it is top notch. But I have some context that might help so here we go. There’s actually more to this expansion than what is shown. Like, a LOT more. Taken King was said to be a 3 act structure. Act 1 is the campaign. Act 2 was “The Taken War”, which explored the impact of Oryx’s arrival in the solar system by having two missions and an open world quest step on each planet in vanilla Destiny 1, plus an additional quest from Petra’s point of view and she copes with the loss of Mara and the entire awoken armada. Act 3 is King’s Fall, whereupon we dismantle Oryx’s court and tribute system and culminates in the raid where Oryx is killed. Yes, Oryx is the story and raid boss. There’s an entire 52 page lore book called the “Books of Sorrow” which has the entire backstory/history of Oryx and the Hive as a species. I HIGHLY recommend checking it out, it’s some great fiction. But basically, Ascendant Hive like their gods have a pocket dimension where their soul is kept, so to speak, and can only truly die when killed there. This is the same thing that happens with the Dark Below and Crota; he is truly killed in his raid.

This expansion is widely regarded as the best Destiny 1 expansion, and is some of the greatest content this franchise has ever seen.

For Hunters, it’s this one. Unlocking the Nightstalker’s bow. 16:03 We destroyed the Black Heart in the Black Garden. Not the Black Garden itself. 17:00 Remember that a dead Ghost is bad for a Guardian. Without them, they can’t come back. Oryx did not really die here, as others have mentioned these strong hive like Crota and Oryx have their own demi planes, throne worlds. You have to kill them there or they don't die. Raid took place on Oryx's throne world.

Not really a spoiler because it’s in an alternate timeline but yes, Eris did, in some space and time, become a hive god and destroyed the traveler. But she won’t. She’s our girl!! Crazy, but still our kinda crazy

Taken King raid was THE BEST. Oryx is one of the biggest baddies of all time in the game, most certainly the Hive's biggest oldest bad of all time. We are STILL dealing with the repercussions of Oryx's life and his decisions, even right this second in destiny time. This current season still effected by this character and his family, 10 years later.

Can I really suggest if you want lore which seems to be what you enjoy- before you do/watch Witch Queen - go watch the fan masterpiece by My Name Is Byf called Dynasty. It goes in depth in Hive lore from the game presented in basicly a movie. Its 90ish mins, it honestly is probably better lore than Destiny gives you in cinematics... in a cinematic way.

If you like bow's there's plenty in D2 like actual weapon , and yes the void bow is there too 🙂

We killed Crota in the raid Crota's End. It's currently playable in Destiny 2.

You gotta watch some raid runs. Kings Fall is wonderful.

Aw man i wish they added the raids into these story videos (although you might want to play some of them firsthand even if they leave loose ends in the current story) since raids are really important lorewise and are considered as the conclusions to the campaigns. Thats why Oryx's and Crota's death (or any boss' death in the expansions) in this campaign feel a little underwhelming cause the raids complete the arc.

The eris scene where she says my queen she is talking to Mara.. talking to... I don't want to spoil to much but you are not wrong to be suspicious of eris I still am hahah I've played destiny since day one
