Happy Pokemon Day everyone! In this video, I'll be reacting to the Pokemon Presents 02/27/24. I'll specifically be talking about the new Pokemon Legends game that was announced! #pokemon #reaction #legends
It being a "Lumiose Redevelopment Plan" and according to Nintendo of America being set entirely within the boundaries of Lumiose makes me feel like it's going to be set in the past in a time equivalent to the late mid-late 1800s much like PLA. Paris was rebuilt from the ground up around that time, and considering Zygarde has an explicit connection to protecting the environment, I think it's possible that your goal is to negotiate with the new equivalent of the Guardian Deities in order to peacefully expand the city to include Pokemon habitats while still being in harmony with nature. The architecture in the blueprints lines up with this, but some have pointed out that the clothes on the people in the blueprints is a bit too contemporary looking.
I hope it's set in the past. As a matter of fact, I hope all the Legends games are set in the past. I think it's cool that Lumiose is getting redeveloped, but I wonder what that means for the Region of Kalos. I hope there's plenty of exploration available.
My thoughts are that maybe the future animation is set in modern day is like the vision for what lumiose will become (essentially what it is in xy) and then it draws us back to when legends Z-A is set
Might be that its only in lumiose but could also just mean that its the base of operations like jubilife village. Ah so excited for the game! Letting GF cook for now and hope to get some more details soon
@@saffroncitytv I also really hope they're all set in the past. Pokemon is already a futuristic/near future franchise so there's really no new ground to tread there.
This is definitely based off Haussmanns redevelopment of Paris. So same time frame as Legends Arceus. Also this game is supposedly set entirely in Lumiose City.
@@saffroncitytv yep, the renovation is when they built the eiffel tower, it was also not only the first massive urban development project - but also used blueprints, which were a VERY recent invention at the time (about 20-30 years prior). It's what gave paris the title of "most beautiful city in the world" up until ww2.
@@tyg-zw7nn exact time frames: Legends arceus = meiji restoration = 1868-1889. Ends with the Enzo Region (Hisui) being renamed Hokkaido (Sinnoh) Legends Z-A = renovation of paris = 1853-1870, eiffel tower (last bit of the renovation) was finished in 1889. Hypothetical legends unova = New York Gilded Age, 1870-1900. Basically New York at its fanciest & wealthiest, as well as turning the city into the metropolis that it is today. It should also be noted that this is right after the reformation post US Civil War, which was 1861-1865. So, if they're all within that same, say, 1880s-1890s time frame, then Unova is dealing with a post-civil war, pre-WW1 socialite skyscraper jungle where wealthy people go to party as the commoners are dying of typhus and cholera and practically everyone has an uncle who was shot & killed by their distant cousin.
I hadn't really paid too much attention to the leaks, I just thought Johto would be a fantastic choice for a game set in the past. I could've sworn they would've released something like that, but not gonna lie - I'm definitely hyped for the Kalos one!!
@@saffroncitytvhonestly I completely forgot that they didn’t have a third game or remake of this region but from the looks of the buildings in the trailer it’s not gonna be as far back as pokemon legends arcues would love to hear your thoughts
Of course Game Freak is going to Game Freak, but given how much Zygarde was pretty much forgotten in gen X/Y games and then was not really even a side quest in Sun/Moon, I imagine that's the box art. I imagine that it'll be playing a big role as well. Also...MEGA EVOLUTIONS! I can't wait. Hope we get new ones.
Super hype for another Legends game! I really am hoping that we will get a somewhat more well rounded experience than we did in Arkoos. Itr was a huge breath of fresh air mechanically, but only having the village as an "urban" zone left me wanting a little more, while the nature areas were incredible, I just think a little bit of variety between being able to go from a nature area into a town, village or city would have been more interesting than only having the village.
I agree, I would've liked to see more villages and towns in Arceus. In Legends Z-A, we're apparently gonna be limited to just Lumiose, so hopefully, they are gonna pack it with content so it doesn't feel to small.
@@saffroncitytv Fingers crossed a suppose. It was a huge breath of fresh air mechanically, and with them bring back Mega Evolution, that is to exciting to get too hung up on tbeing city locked. haha
I was talking about the potential game for this year with my friend yesterday and I was certain we'd get a new kind of Johto game, but his prediction was literally Pokemon Legends Zygarde. I'm sure you can imagine our reaction to this morning!!!
The energy and power your "Hello Everyone!" Gives me when I hear it for the first time in a while. Happy to be a Sabrina fan. But yeah ZA is shocking. Kalos deserves a revisit, even if not a remake. We just know very little of what it could really be and that's... Very cool. Plus y'know 2025 release is a good sign
Well thank you so much! Lol but yeah, I couldn't agree more. I really want this one to bake in the oven for as long as it takes to make a badass banger of a Pokemon game.
Hi Sabrina! Nice video, as usual. I was expecting something Johto related, kinda disappointed it didn't happened, but at least Kalos will get some love after how "incomplete" their games felt.
Thank you! 😊 And I totally agree. I would've preferred Johto, but I ain't mad about getting Kalos. I'm honestly just super hyped for another Legends game. 😊
Kalos is my least favorite region and mega evolution is my least favorite mechanic for a mile. Though my main gripes with both is more so the implementation of the game, region, and battle mechanic. I'm actually really looking forward to this since it'll give me a new way to try to enjoy Kalos and Megas lol
I love the name Z-A it fits the themes of X and Y, things have to end to begin anew. Teams flare, the war, Diantha's story and more. Mega's will be interesting, it's my least preferred mechanic as of how it was implemented, I will always stand by the single and second stage pokemon should have just evolved instead of mega evolving, there designs are great but that is about it
"What Pokemon will this game be focusing on?" Dratini falls, I think your question got answered. So I have a lot of mixed feelings about Legends Z-A, mostly excited I'll say but still some mixed feelings. For one, with all the speculation of a Let's Go Johto games (which I didn't take stock in the rumors of but you have to admit when those rumors were growing more and more, started to make you wonder maybe we'll see some Johto) and mix that with the Unown all throughout the trailer, that basically confirmed, we are getting something Johto in this game! Then the trailer starts and then I saw Pikachu running through the city, "alright what is this?" It made me think of Detective Pikachu. Then I saw the Lumiose Tower, and got even more confused, "Wait, we're in Kalos? What's going on?" And then I see the Legends. "Oh! A Legends Kalos game? Huh...interesting." I'm still really hoping someday to see that Legends Celebi game, exploring the Ruins of Alph, or see the Burned Tower before the infamous fire, maybe even capture the Pokemon that supposedly died in the fire, who knows maybe they were common Pokemon back then? Maybe a region variant of Bellsprout at the Sprout Tower. There's a lot you can do with that, and maybe since Johto and Kanto are so close together explore Kanto too in the Legends Celebi game. Someone else pointed out that they wanted a Legends Kuyrem game which then I thought about the original dragon that we've not seen and I think that would be a neat idea for a Legends game too. So when they announced Legends Z-A, I was very surprised but I'm like "Oh! Well, I got my wish, I got a Legends game, just not the region I was expecting" I completely forgot about the story of the war. But I did remember AZ's special Floette though and would be cool to capture one of those. So I started to get excited again. HOWEVER, when I saw the Tweet that says the game takes place ENTIRELY in Lumiose City, I got concerned again. On one hand I enjoyed seeing Jubilife Village get built up in Legends Arceus, we had basically the entire region of Hisui to explore, and while Lumiose City is probably the biggest city in any Pokemon game, I do have concerns about how much exploration and adventure you can actually have in that game or what Pokemon you'll be able to find in the city itself. I guess we'll have to wait and see when more details come out. I agree with you though on them waiting a year. Scarlet and Violet are fun games but...they are definitely glitchy and they could've used another year to work those bugs out so I'm happy they're waiting a year to release this game. Excited for your Hoenn video!
🤣 That Dratini scared the crap out of me! And I pretty much agree with all of your points. I have high hopes for this game, and I think GameFreak really needs to bring their A Game for this one.
Yeah I think it’ll be good, I just have so many questions right now. I guess we’ll have to see if those questions get answered in a full trailer, hope that comes soon! One guy on my Discord theorizes that they’ll incorporate a biome thing like what we saw in the Blueberry Academy as well as potentially using the synchro machine that one character built, and we would control the Pokémon. That is if it takes place in the future. A lot of people think it does but I guess we’ll wait and see on that.
Can't wait to see where this game goes! I want to see how they will incorporate Zygarde. I want to see the construction of the ultimate weapon and how that helped with the discovery of mega evolution. I'm excited at the possibility of new mega forms since I think that was the best gimmick to ever come to Pokemon! Side note I had my hopes super low watching the present today and when I saw Lumious City I was so hyped! And then the mega evolution symbol came in and that just brought so much nostalgia, something I would've never thought would happen again with Pokemon! Anyway probably going to play X and Y before legends comes out! Can't wait to hear what they do with the music because Kalos soundtrack was just so good!!
Obligatory algorithm comment. There's NO CHANCE this won't take place around the events of the Ultimate Weapon and dive into some lore about the tallestboi himself, AZ. Cannot wait for the Hoenn tour! But also don't stress, the longer it takes just means you've put more love and effort into it, which is all we can ask for. If you're not happy with it, then it isn't ready.
Well, thank you so much for commenting for the algorithm! I'm definitely putting a ton of effort into it, but it's looking like a four hour video 🤣 I've just been having to work a lot more than normal, so I've been slightly limited on time to work on it. Either way, it's gonna be a banger of a video, and I really hope you enjoy it. 😊
What do you think the starters will be? I know a lot of people are saying the fire starter will be scorbunny because they don't understand how litten and by extension incineroar would be connected to France, but like.... Tournee du chat noir? Like that's pretty darn French i dunno
I'm not super sure, but I think I'd like to see Snivy, Finneken and maybe Popplio, but that's pretty much only for aesthetic reasons. I haven't thought about it too much, but I just think those Pokemon fit Kalos really well.
I feel like the war talked about in XY is the same war talked about in Sw/Sh which because France and UK that'd make it the Pokemon equivalent of the 100 year war?
I am late to this video but I am really excited. I think Kalos needs a revisit. I replayed it end of 2023 and it was kinda blah. Especially compared to ORAS and USUM. Looking forward to this!!
The term "redevelopment plan" to me says that Luminose has already been developed - just getting updated. Also, I'm getting more of a modern vibe from the trailer
I saw a cool theory saying torchic (French national animal), piplup (napoleon) and snivy (based on European rich aristocrats). I think that no matter what, snivy is pretty much a locked choice imo
@@Chilliconkanye honestly, as cool as it is that there are 3 French adjacent starters that could make a trio, it still feels like it could go many different ways. I personally hope chikorita finally gets some love 😭 hisui did wonders for typhlosion imo so I'd love to see a chikorita upgrade. If that's the route they go I think scorbunny or tepig would be my go to fire choices
simultaneously worldwide. same release date in every region of the world. it goes without saying these days, but back in the day japan would get the games first
Gen 5 = Pokemon Black & White Expectation = Pokemon Grey Reality = Pokemon Black & White sequel Gen 6 = Pokemon X & Y Expectation = Pokemon Z Reality = Hoenn remake Gen 7 = Sun & Moon Expectation = Pokemon Star Reality = Sun and Moon remake and Let's Go! games Gen 8 = Sword & Shield Expectation = Pokemon Arrow (Gun?) Reality = Sinnoh remakes + first Legends game Gen 9 = Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Expectation = Johto and/or Unova versions of Let's Go! and/or Legends Reality = Legends Z-A
I wasn't a fan of mega evolutions, because it's too digimon like in my book. And I really like Digimon, but I guess I'm glad that they de-evolve because though I love charizard I was 10 when I chose charmander, and he was my first pokemon. And he's as iconic as mewtwo and pikachu. Also Charizard Y for me not X. I'd like to see more Megas added.
The one thing i dont understand about legends Arceus is why there are porygon around. Porygon are a man made pokemon, and they still use apricorns to make pokeballs in legends. So when and how were porygon made?
I think it has something to do with the legendaries being able to control time and space, and I think that's the only reason why Porygon were brought back. Otherwise, I totally understand that Porygon makes literally zero sense to be in Legends Arceus.
Pokemon x and y were my second pokemon games after black/white 2 and are one of my favourite pokemon regions and games. It was a very big surprise seeing a legwnds revisit announced today
Had similiar thoughts, first was like, why is this Pokemon Presents video so short? Was later kind of disappointed, they don't talk much about anything, just show trailers of mobile games updates. And is happy we are getting another Legends game because Arceus was better than main line games. But also was hoping it would be Johto one.
Thank you for always being so supportive of the Channel. Would it be ok if I gave you a shoutout in the Hoenn Region Review? I'd love to give you a special thanks. Anyway, I was also kinda disappointed that the Presents was so short, but I gotta admit, I'm super hype for this game. I was also anticipating that it would be a Johto game, but I"m open minded to Kalos. 😊
Sure, if you want to, then no problem at all :> Also it's really nice, I don't feel like I've done much. Also about games, I have to figure out if there is something wrong with my GBA SP or with my Blue cardridge because the game freezes in random moments and have to reset console every time, very discouraging to play xd
Loved seeing your reaction of this. I'm personally very concerned about this game, purely because of how the games quality track record is at the moment. I was more hoping that if we returned to Kalos, it's be a good quality remake, like ORAS, not a Legends game, as for me, it wasn't a game style I like, as I'm not fond of open world games. Fingers crossed we get a good game though!!
I really like the open world aspect of the newer Pokemon games, but I'm just not sure that GameFreak has perfected their method of doing them justice. I'm also hoping for an awesome game. But since this one is apparently sequestered to just Lumiose City, hopefully they'll do a good job of packing it with content.
