A new wave of bank scams is hitting South Africa: Reana Steyn 

The poor thing is that the bank doesn't want to assist in anyway to track down or shut down these scammers.

The question is why do we need banks, if they can't regulate? 🤔

The bank must be held accountable if they don't trace the money properly.. Refund me or track my money 😒

Never believe anybody....go to the bank no matter what. A post office WILL never ask money before you collect anything, PLEASE people.

The bank should be able to trace the money with all the laws or should create a bigger otp notice or make it a mandate to reconfirm the a 2nd otp .its the same as when a customer wants a refund from a store. With everything going online then people sometimes need the support of those that keep our money and we pay fees for that service.

The bank called me at midnight to ask if i was using my card and i said no I'm sleeping they blocked it and paid my money back.

Was happening here in the UK, is still happening,we have to be vigilant

The banks and post office should alert people to make sure customers aware of scams

People should just be careful and extra careful, I think the bank should like like tight the way to access large amount of money ,may be they should call to verify if you are aware of the money about to leave the account, I believe it will somehow true

Who are still stupid to put any bank details on websites go directly to the post office and make payment at the desk

Always put your money into your credit card where you can use it same as normal with a cheque account, only when your money is the credit card do you have protection and fraud then is the bank's problem and they are then liable. Just make sur that you pay the little protection fee.

Why banks not alerting their clients before the money goes out of the bank

If they stop selling customers information to third parties we wouldn't have this problem.

In my credit card someone withdraw R20 000 without me knowing . I have never withdraw or purchase something of that amount on my credit card. The bank hand me over because I couldn't prove that I didn't use my card. 😭

Often get calls from Capetown,inside job from banking or IT professionals working for banks. How did they get you info, ask for there name,phone number, then report back to bank. Play there game.

People should learn to be more vigilant and wake up! Stop blaming institutions when you get scammed.

it happen to me last year, until now the email still coming.

I'm being harassed with emails telling me my parcel has arrived. I clicked on the link and it is supposed to be my iPhone that is at FedEx Cape Town and I must pay $1. Cape Town is approx 700 kms from where I live. I would like to know how they got to using my 2nd name as all business I do is usually with my first name. Then they also have my email address. NB; 1. DON'T RESPOND TO THIS TYPE OF MEDSAGE 2. DON'T GIVE YOUR BANK DETAILS 3. DON'T GIVE YOUR IP ADRESS AS THAT IS GIVING ACVESS TO YOUR LAPTOP, PHONE, ETC.

RSA has been nation , under stress for so long , unemployment and lack of development because of incompetent service delivery and failed government administration , and stats SA been ignored !! The government react NOT governing !!!

I have had emails supposedly regarding my account. Here's the thing I don't use that particular bank. Delete those emails

Why are people still falling for this?

I once did the R30 payment and only that came out… after about 2 weeks money was taken out of my account without any otp to authorise it… Capitec said they will investigate and it’s now 2years on to no avail

Another big one is these Forex trading platforms, why is it alowed in the first place?

This is bad the police they must investigate and get the footprints of these scamers.
