We were supposed to play this for the swing dance my senior year but covid canceled the entire last semester. Kinda makes me sad listening to it now but maybe one day I'll get the chance to play it again.

I was in highschool jazz bank in the late 70's in So Cal. We spent hours after school and weekends as a band practicing for competitions.

Very reminiscent of Bob Mintzer's arrangement of Manteca from the 90's. This is a very good companion piece to go with it. Love the calls to other songs too.

The groove is too muddled. The percussion needs to be more sparsely constructed, otherwise it just sounds like a stream of 16th notes.
