The one in October was a ring of fire eclipse. This one is a total solar eclipse, one that will be viewable by millions of people in populace cities--it is more accessible than many others in the past. The shadow will also be larger, and the time span in which it will last is nearly double than usual. This type of eclipse, in this area, won't occur for approximately 360 years, according to NASA. I live in the path of totality and NASA is in town. Everything that they've been sharing has been very interesting.
I'm not going to wear eclipse glasses. I'm just going to watch it on RU-vid. Fun as it is I didn't bother to get glasses & I'd be worried about counterfeit useless crap masquerading as eclipse glasses anyway. Although there's a way to tell I just don't want to risk it. I It's bad enough I have to get 6 months eye tests because I'm on a med that can effect eyes.
