That’s Josh Freese combined with Maynard. Both are masters of painting between the lines. Same for Maynard’s partnership with Danny Carey. It’s just nuts how these cats think & how they can paint such incredible pictures with words, Melodie’s , etc… and all within unorthodox time sigs.
@@manymanytacos I suggest you do your own research. I used to love this band and many others who are similar until I learned the kind if deals they make to get to that level - noone is given a platform unless they are controlled. Don't believe me, do your own research. The symbols and signs are littered through all the works of famous people especially in mainstream American music, which this is.
2023 has possibly been the worst year of my life. I’m only 30 so far. This song has really helped me over the years though. I’ve had it on repeat the last few months. Hopefully things get better.
Freese is a great drummer. It's sad that he's no longer with APC anymore. I just hope the guys can eventually get another album going, it's been way over due.
Maynard is so damn busy, each of his projects are lucky when he can find time for them. Some can easily focus on one thing for a long, long time but he’s not one of them. And his family & grapes are way higher priorities.
I've always had lot of respect for Maynard; Few people I have known who had gone to their shows, says he usually stays in the back so the band gets more of the attention. He is very humble and doesn't seem to let fame goe to his head. He's had some dark days in past, but still, can't help but to respect the man.
it has never being about the attention, it is better for logistics, and he is not in the back, he is next to the drummer, from that place he can listen to the beat tempo, and he can see all the members and the audience without the need of moving his head, also he doesn't struggle with the guitar and keyboard frequencies.
Yes I've noticed the same. there was a show where he performed wearing all sorts of outfits. I found that weird at first, but then every artist, front man has their own ways.
Yeah man Maynard is actually an extremely talented vocalist. He sounds like a studio recording at almost every live show and his range is inspiring. He can successfully scream and sing a wide scale better than many progressive rock singers. And I agree with this...listen to the cameo in Passenger by the Deftones...you'll see...
I love them live honestly more than most of the studio versions. They're all lovely but live just feels real and passionate. especially the red rocks versions
@Zac Loves School Yes, studio versions of songs takes out the soul and passion. I don't want perfect, imperfect resonates so much more with music. It's like listening to a robot sing vs a human.
It amazes me how people complain about "subpar" performances, mistakes, and even poor mixes. Do you all do your jobs at 100% perfection every time? NO. It's called being human. And I, for one, find no issues worth even mentioning in this performance. Trolls will be trolls. Truth be told you probably dream of having 1% of the talent these guys have. The internet gives too many people balls they do not possess. Shut up and just enjoy music and enjoy life.
+purefault I understand, it is just that I am a sound engineer and have been mixing live shows since the early 90's, and the first priority is to get he best possible sound for the audience in the venue. Then when it gets sent to the broadcast booth, or truck, for tv it may either be taken straight off the console, or it may be re-mixed in real time for whatever show the performers are on. Sometimes these things don't really represent what the band sounds like in that venue. There are multiple factors that can hinder the sound when broadcast, as well as issues mixing live in the venue.
[Verse 1] Tilling my own grave to keep me level Jam another dragon down the hole Digging to the rhythm and the echo of a solitary siren One that pushes me along and leaves me so [Chorus] Desperate and ravenous So weak and powerless Over you [Verse 2] Someone feed the monkey while I dig in search of China White as Dracula as I approach the bottom [Chorus] Desperate and ravenous So weak and powerless Over you [Bridge] Little angel go away, come again some other day The devil has my ear today, I'll never hear a word you say He promised I would find a little solace and some peace of mind Whatever just as long as I don't feel so [Chorus] Desperate and ravenous So weak and powerless Desperate and ravenous So weak and powerless Over you [Outro] Over you
Tool's third full length album, Lateralus, was certified double platinum by the RIAA. And it was certified silver by the BPI for 60,000 copies in the UK. And they won a Grammy for "Best Metal Performance." Danny Carey's drumwork on "Ticks and Leeches" was rated number 3 on a list of "100 best Rock Drummer Performances." They outsold Missy Eliott by 30,000 copies. That's just one album. Additionally, they're independent. It was the biggest independent release of that decade. One album, dude.
What a team. How they all blend together. It's like magic. Super happy to find live performances. One day I hope to be in the front row section to see for myself. One day...
God I just love the live version of this song. Maynard adding 2 extra over you at the end is just perfect! Feel like it drives the message home so much better than the studio version.
Everything Maynard touches turns to gold. Tool. A Perfect Circle. Puscifer. If all 3 bands could be molded into a single living, breathing being, its heart pulsating every song ever written by these 3, it would be a being worthy of true old school Pagan worship, complete with shrines, temples and willing women the world over. Tool + A Perfect Circle + Puscifer = This. Is. Beauty. This. Is. Love. Hatred. Craving. Rage. Everything ♥
Billy Howerdel honestly at the same level of Maynard at his peak performance capabilities. His guitar playing rapes my ears like no other. Not to mention he sings almost as well as Maynard.
That's a stretch Lol.. Howerdel is alright and I like what he writes but his technical ability and general talent level is not even in the same realm as Keenans voice and songwriting IMO
I thought so too until I heard Puscifer. They just aren't my cup of tea. As great as his voice is, I realized how important the rest of the band, Tool and APC, are.
In my opinion : Maynard is the best artist of this century, now i'm livin' with a religious anxiety, and i don't know what to do, he's startin' to become my religion. I'd really like to send his thinking to all people in the world, to show them who is him and how much he could do for all of us. He's the man i want to become, my only one reference. Thank you
Been a TOOL fan and then a Maynard fan,...lastly APC fan, I've seen APC at USD 4 times now and every single time they amaze me. Maynard NEVER lacks on vocals and kills it!
Everyone in this band are professional badass mofos! Like others have said about Josh Freese...fucking legend and one of the most underated drummers of all time. Actually a studio drummer for many bands after the Vandals. Of course Maynard but really Billy Howerdel (Tool's guitar tech) lead guitarist is the founder and brains of this band. His side band Ashes Divide is amazing! Seen them live and spoke to him afterward. Incredible people. I love how all the folks associated with Tool are so talented and professional. No scumbags aloud....just good people.
Seen them( A Perfect Circle ) at Lollapoolooza Phoenix AZ, with Incubus. and Jurastic 5, And Audioslave.. Amazing what I remember of it..; Damn alcohol made me forget again. But I do remember Maynard sounding just as good live as on record. Not many vocalist have that talent without studio magic... IE,, Tom Delonge..
