I stumbled upon this video randomly and holy shit this is so real. I rant like this to myself all the time!!! I fear sharing these kinds of opinions to others because they’ll automatically take offense or think I’m pretentious as if I’m “better than thou” because I don’t enjoy the weird social tendencies everyone follows without question. And then there’s the total lack of respect for others in public spaces, online spaces, etc. Everyone is just so full of hate and jealousy and anxiety. There’s no doubt that social media completely exacerbated this problem. Nothing feels real anymore. It terrifies me to know that everything I see is perfectly hand curated to my exact interests. (Everyone accepts this causally) and people keep buying useless stuff to fill the void. It’s exhausting to live in such a world!! This was extremely validating. Thank you!

people literally do take offense and honestly specifically women do. bc women are socialized to always be pleasing and complimentary so many get scared when they encounter women with opinions. this is why i have like 2 friends rn bc ive gotten my head bitten off so much for not being validating enough that i just become more shy...but it's like sorry you cant handle open discussion? in my mind we are in the parlour discussing heartily over cigars and pool...like personally i like when people disagree w me because it keeps me balanced and well rounded. other pple need to grow up tbh

This video was another absolute hit! I agree with basically everything you said but even if I didnt’t it would still be refreshing to hear someone voice their opinion so freely without sounding like a robot or something. Also this might interest you: there is this term in psychology called “pluralistic ignorance” it’s basically the false belief that everyone in a group holds the opinion opposite to yours and so you are afraid to voice your opinion and you start to feel isolated or might even go along with the perceived “popular opinion”. I think this definitely happens online a lot and it gives me a little bit of hope that there are some more sane people left lol

Haha I know right? People in general have developed this sense of entitlement in every single space including with their pets. They have no grasp of the worlds surroundings and put their needs first. Humans have become so blind to how the world and others work. Thanks for saying this 💕

Thank you! I’ve been feeling similarly recently. I definitely would prefer quality, small batch, low impact, original, independent content than the weird cookie cutter, copy/paste, videos/ideas that all feature an ad for a corrupt company. I like when creativity and innovation is the purpose rather than popularity or monetization.

I think your guess about everyone being under-stimulated by not going outside is half the story - we're both under- and over-stimulated. There's research pointing to the psychological benefits of spending time in nature, getting natural sunlight etc. And then I think we're also overstimulated by cheap dopamine hits that social media's providing. Also this video rocks all the way through - thank you for being brave enough to say that dog owners are getting out of hand

NAH CAUSE I TOOK A WALK WITHIN 2 SPECIFIC NIGHTS ONE WEEK (two nights just consecutively) AND IM WALKING AROUND AND NEXT THING YOU KNOW I STEP IN DOG POO, I GO ON ANOTHER WALK AND I DO IT AGAIN BUT THE CRAZY PART IS THAT IT WAS IN THE SAME LOCATION THE SECOND NIGHT AND THE SAME DOG... NOT EVEN EXAGGERATING I STEPPED IN DOG POO FOR TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW WHILE WALKING

on an originally peaceful walk by the river recently, some dingleberry let his pooch get it's muddy paws all over my coat and pants. he was like "haha yea he's friendly :D" when i get this mad, i imagine the other person's head exploding and it takes away some of the anger. successfully kept my cool B^)

@@aeong_bread yes preach! the dog is friendly to an extent and that line gets crossed on multiple occasions... but tell me why i keep noticing dog owners ignorant attitude with the evidence of the poo to back it up, bring a bag, and have common curtesy!! yes always visualize something like that, and i still see random piles of poo around where i live sooooo uhh

Wow, you've definitely put into words a lot of the things I have been feeling as of late. People really are getting entitled and it's insufferable! One thing I've noticed that is a bit unrelated to your video, but relates to people's craziness on the internet is that people have become way too comfortable filming and photographing strangers. I feel like before social media it wasn't a thing people did that often because its creepy and rude to take photos and videos of some random stranger just trying to exist in public without their permission, like the least you can do is ask, but honestly why do you need a photo of some stranger in the first place? Recently though it feels live people see every interaction in their life as an opportunity to make content that will "go viral," like every stranger is the perfect opportunity to make a TikTok video or a twitter post or whatever people are doing now, but it makes it feel like I'm on display every time I go outside, like if I don't perfectly fit the societal mold, some weirdo hoping to go viral is gonna shove a camera in my face. Like at my sister's graduation, multiple white people took photos of her and my family because a specific cultural practice looked weird to them and I don't know what they did with those photos, but people did the same thing to me when I graduated. It felt like I was a zoo animal on display, like my existence was something "exotic" and they wanted to oggle at me. Since when was it okay to take photos of strangers and why do you feel entitled to doing such a thing?!? Like let people live! I also gotta agree with the dog thing, I don't care if "princess is friendly" I don't want your dog jumping up on me. People act like they're not the ones who were supposed to train their dog to act well in public!

19:56 no FR bc i have an acquaintance who sends me entire rants when she sees me posting on ig that "sexism is based on sex, here are 20+examples" accusing me of violence etc YET i see her liking videos of women (crypto trad i suspect) who complain about having to work bc of evil feminists some people will complain about dogwhistles for hours yet won't notice it when ACTUAL dogwhistles hit them in the face

Aww I know this video is older but I know what you mean!! I question all the time if I’m wasting so so so much time creating content. I e tried over and over to make it more efficient but there’s no way. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Oo deer! The house I live in now we get deer that come up to backs of our homes! It’s magical! A huge group of them wander through the woods. Oh yeah the entitlement of bringing pets everywhere. I used to be a dog groomer for 13 years! The stories! I cannot appreciate dogs like most people. Especially when they’re misbehaved!

The pet thing is so weird and I agree that it feels like no one is talking about it. I love dogs, but people are so stupid about them. A dog is usually a LARGE CARNIVORE. People have the right to be wary of them! Oh yeah, it's the owner, not the animal blah blah... why do you have a large carnivore in a city? Why is it so acceptable that we just keep these animals who might attack other animals and people around? Get a small dog or one that isn't bred to be aggressive ffs, I don't care how much you're going to train it. (I feel like I should make a caveat when I say I like dogs; I really enjoy smaller dogs who are well trained. also, have you noticed how the "I like dogs better than people" posters usually have the most obnoxious poorly behaved dogs?) And cat owners, you're not off the hook- why do you let your cat wander wherever and get injured or disappear? Why can you not pay ANY vet bills and got an animal anyway, because they're supposed to be "easy"....? (that's another discussion entirely) alright so that wasn't really what the video was about. I am also sick of it. But! I have a book question: Have you read The Machine Stops? It completely blew me away wrt ~the way things are~ today. Cannot believe it was written more than 100 years ago.

Reminded me why I liked reading sci fi in the first place, and I love it so much when classic lit is relatable- part of why I enjoy Austen so much. Would love to hear your thoughts on her other novels aside from Sense and Sensibility!

Back to feminist comments… I feel like people take it too far one way or the other! Like why keep over complicating the reason for feminism. Equal rights. Right? Who cares how someone wants to live their life if they want to wear loads of makeup and be ultra femme… or not and prefer pants short hair no makeup (the term is eluding me) why make judgements and keep insisting there’s a beauty standard that must change for all… there will never be such a thing we all have preferences what we individually find attractive. To insist that makeup is wrong anti-feminist is ironic- feminism means we simply have a free choice. So like- we have arrived! Women have won that freedom! STOP other things need your attention now like a BIG one for me is trafficking or modern day slavery that is an epidemic that has a true need of help people are dieing suffering and being kidnapped- like I dont want hear about petty problems like they “think” they are not getting paid fair wage when there’s likely a plethora of other things at play that would be reasonable. Trafficked people get NO pay! Sooo… 🤷🏻‍♀️ Ok I havnt read feminist theory tho to be fair. I truly hope my opinions dont make me hate me either 🤣 OK books with upsetting content: I LOVE this one! Regarding ACOAR I love that series but criticisms surpind the toxic relationship Feyra has with the first love interest and claims it romanticizes abuse… but I hate that opinion because toxic relationships are unfortunately a part of life I’ve definitely fallen for a few bad guys you don’t know till you know! It’s good for these relationships to be in literature we learn from them we feel things identify or empathize or feel angry because we see what the character does not whatever!

choice feminism isn't feminism it's individualism--if one women chooses to do something like sell access to her body or uphold an oppressive beauty standard, then she is contributing to the subjugation of women under men in society, which is inherently antifeminist. you admit yourself you haven't read feminist theory...I'd recommend starting with something by Dworkin like Right Wing Women to start educating yourself on this! that was the first one that I read and it literally made feminism make soooo much more sense to me than when I was trying to learn about it on the internet. Dworkin lived through prostitution too so she has on the ground experience with why prostitution/"sex work" is antifeminist as well.

About the dogs. I personally haven’t had any bad experiences with dogs/owners but i actually see a lot of dog owners complain about other dog owners online. I completely get wanting a trained service dog for your condition or just a pet but if it’s just a pet then it needs to be trained and the owner needs to be responsible about it. What i cant respect is if someone gets like a pug or a chihuahua (from a breeder - i guess it’s different if you rescue one) because it is just grotesque and evil how they have been bred. So i guess i agree with what you say just not in general. Also i don’t know if people are getting more entitled or if the percentage has stayed the same and theyre just more noticable. That would be interesting to know not just wrt dog owners. I can imagine that social media has made people more entitled and stuff but idk. Ofc there’s always a lot of hysteria about social media but i genuinely think something really fucked up is happening and children especially should definitely not be on there

tbh most people who have dogs shouldnt have them. lately i've been veering more towards unless it's a working dog you shouldn't have it because it's a part of why the average american's carbon footprint is so large. like don't tell me to stop eating meat to save the planet when you've got two completely unnecessary CARNIVORES you keep purely for amusement. plus human waste gets processed so as not to contaminate water supply, but pet waste doesn't. pets are damaging to the climate and human health and i'll die on that hill. even if you adopt you're still feeding demand.

@@fictionesque1992 fair. However i do think that a lot of people (maybe they are a minority idk) don’t get dogs purely for amusement but because it does add something to a family. Even tho most dogs are dumb as shit they are capable of caring and that sort of companionship is nice. From an environmental standpoint it might not be the best idea but i feel like if you aren’t preachy and are mindful about how you might be able to reduce your footprint in other ways that still counts even it might not cancel out having a dog. It’s not really comparable to getting a child but for people who aren’t fundamentally shitty dog owners/people i do think getting a dog is closer to getting a child that to getting a carnivorous toy. Also (and this might just be me having a wrong and harmful mindset idk) but idk how much it’s even worth if i as a person try to make my footprint as small as possible. I do some things to reduce my footprint but does it even matter? If my government were to ration beef or warm water i wouldn’t mind that, but as long as we don’t do something on a bigger scale are we even scratching the surface? My primary school teacher always used to say everything we do to help the climate counts but idk. Like with voting for example the „personal influence“ we have is more tangible but with how many people don’t even believe in climate change i don’t know how far it would even get us if every person who cares about the climate tried to live as „cleanly“ as possible. Could be that i just don’t have the facts straight but that’s what i‘m thinking

your second paragraph is climate change denial. yes everything counts. quit that doomer bullshit right fucking now, because we all need the good you are capable of doing in this world. what do you think all the businesses doing most of the polluting are making? are they just carbon factories? no. they make a product for consumers. you can't just opt out of YOUR responsibility for the climate. think of it this way. if someone spills a glass of milk in your house, is it your fault? no. but it IS your responsibility to clean it up because you still live there. the same goes for the climate. remember when there used to be no vegan options anywhere, but now they're at pretty much every restaurant? consumer demand does work for incremental change, as does placing serious demands on representatives. everyone against war helps climate change, everyone against pet ownership helps climate change. everyone who bikes to work helps climate change. everyone who votes blue helps climate change. I will never give up and dgaf if i'm on the "losing" side el oh el, I live and walk in my principles baybeeee also, did you know that global emissions actually went down last year? I don't remember much talk about that. get back up, there's more work that needs doing!

Oh yeah I agree that everyone is pushed to be a brand to make money and advertise get sponsors but also I wish I could make money for talking about books because it does take a lot of time to make content I love it tho! And I am jealous of people who have found a way to make money off what they love.

tbh I'm not that jealous because the money literally ruins it every time. even when i look at my analytics too much i can literally feel it start corrupting my content where i start wanting to make videos to please an audience rather than myself. and then i never like those videos as much as the ones i made just cause :( i do wish i could just be given enough money to have a house and stay alive so i could have a Stupid Job that didn't take up that much time tho

for some years now ive been really staring to hate people that have animals obviously I know its not right im sure there's a lot of people who take good care of them and are good people but omg I feel like 4 out 5 people that I see with a dog don't pick up there shit, they take them to places like you said where they shouldn't be or are clearly being unhealthy treating them like or in the worse cases better than a human also seeing people have them in spaces where they clear don't have enough space to move around
