Life's end? You are a nincompoop. You talk as if the Arctic ice never broke up and moved out to the Atlantic. What a bunch of mustard fed Jacka$ses. The Artic ice leaves the Arctic every ice age cycle. You should feel elated, you are witnessing the dawn of a new ice age. When all that ice leaves the Arctic the snows will fall because the warm Atlantic ocean will flood in and the cold Arctic ocean will flood out. We will see snow that hasnt been seen for 100,000 years. 😁

Thank you, Miles, for your heartfelt effort to awaken people to the reality of climate change. As can be observed in many of the viewer's comments, it is extremely difficult for people who have not studied the science to accept what is happening to our climate. Having experts relate their personal experience and understanding is one way to help people to move past their denial. My congratulations to you for an excellent presentation. Please keep up your fine work!

True but the sad fact is that burning fossil fuels eventually will reverse those gains in life expectancy. But, there is a way to hold on to those gains in life expectancy without destroying the planet. There are ample sources of energy that don't contribute to warming the planet.

Jeff Gold: I am no Socialist or Communist but how about helping the rest of the world with afffordable energy so they can attain a better life. If we do not love all people we have failed. The only way to do that for them is Nuclear energy. What was that I just heard? Was that a lot of ears snapping closed, and brains turning off? I am also no Bill Gates fan, except his plan to help with energy for the underdeveloped world. Where is our humanity? The last couple decades has seen increased crop production all over the world - thanks to slightly increased levels of CO2. That is fact. If that increase in CO2 is because of your car and my car then I am glad we helped.

Question- Earth climate/weather is complex hard to map with certainty, I understand climate is easier to predict for averages for 1000's or 10's of 1000's of years excluding catastrophic events ie. volcano, etc. Now, the eccentricity of Earths orbit is decreasing to its minimum and paleo-climatologists can show that when this happens the Earth cools dramatically, ice age! This occurs over 10's of 1000's of years. These events Align with a couple extinction events in geological records. We are in one right now, near bottom which will reach its apex in 2500 years give or take a decade lasting a couple 100 years then start back to eccentric orbit heating the planet again. Now, man has changed atmospheric chemical ratios of greenhouse gasses. This change warms the atmosphere is it the three little bears scenario of just right or is it, sorry everybody dies?

My dad (William Weyant) was a meteorologist who went to the Antarctic a couple times. He taught me respect for the environment and for science. But people don't like complicated answers. I was wondering if you knew him? He got a mountain named after him. "Mount Weyant (77°33′S 162°42′E Coordinates: 77°33′S 162°42′E) is a prominent ice-free summit, 1,930 m, between Loftus and Newall Glaciers in Victoria Land. Named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) in 1964 for William S. Weyant, meteorologist in charge with the winter party at Little America V in 1958."

From the online book (page 142) "ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE" on Ecohumanworld web site Nature does not exist because of us, but we are like all other beings created because of certain needs in nature itself. If the need for our presence on this planet passes, it will also pass away the creature that has existed because of those needs - the human being. Nature is the ultimate master of this planet. She creates life and ensures that never fails. Its laws are still present, the only real and permanent functioning. They are the foundations of existence, are the nature itself. Existential justification is a one-time gift of nature, an opportunity that allows all in the context of the natural laws to survival. Who consciously or unconsciously ignored these laws, disrupts their balance and harmony, must expect that sooner or later his right to existence on this planet runs out. Also we are no exception.

There are various reports stating that great parts of the arctic were in the 1930 ies up to 3 to 4 degrees C warmer than today. Sea ice seems to melt and come back during the 20 th century - also with very little increase of CO2 concentration in the 1930 ies. Can somebody tell me if this correct.

3:46, old sea ice, albedo is about .5 only snow is about .85 Open ocean at 0 C emits 325 watts per sq meter, and latent losses can add another 100 watts per sq meter. In the summer it is often cloudy in the arctic, sea ice minima, in september, occurs when the sun angle is lower in the sky, so the intensity per sq meter of incoming radiation is less. Sea ice insulates the relatively warm ocean from the cold polar air, albedo is a much more complex story than represented here.

Very good video, it is now August of 2022, four years after this video was made. As of now, Lake Powell and Lake Mead along the Colorado River is 25% of full level, another 150 feet lower, they will be at Dead Pool, no water for irrigation and no Hydroelectric Power. Forty million people will be catastrophically affected by these future developments. There has been flooding in the Eastern United States, and droughts in the Western United States. Europe has been in a massive heat wave, with low river levels in Germany and the United Kingdom had record high temperatures during the summer. Greenland has had their glaciers retreating at record rates, exposing a lot of land. Arctic Sea Ice has been reduced significantly which increases Sea Water temperatures. I don't argue with people who don't believe in Climate Change, because I have family and friends who don't believe it is happening, but with all the things going on in the world, it is very concerning. But the reality of the present situation, is that we are very dependent on Fossil Fuels, especially as Hydroelectric Power is being diminished, we will need more Coal and Natural Gas Power Plants to replace Hydroelectric Power Plants that are reducing capacity. There is not enough Lithium for Car Batteries to replace Gasoline or Diesel powered cars and trucks. In my opinion, I don't think Climate Change can be prevented, I don't believe people will give up their electric appliances and gasoline vehicles because of Climate Change, especially for the people who don't believe it exists. All I ask is for people to respect each other and try to get along, no matter what their political views and opinions are, even if they are Democrat or Republican, Liberal or Conservative, we must try to work together, God Bless Everyone.

Fact is, CO2 is such a minor factor in global warming that we are fools to let our moron movement foster the herd mentality that is creating massive hardship on so many people. The Earth has been doing this warming and cooling thing forever and nothing we can do will change it. The ocean temperature and CO2 capture cycle is the driver and it is going to happen even if we get to zero CO2 from human activities (you know what they all are-almost everything that improves our lives) and we will starve to death. Just wanted to remind all what CO2 does for plant life which supports all life on planet Earth. Much ado about nothing we can do about it.

Breaking News from the Washington Post; The Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consulate at Bergen Norway. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes. Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm. Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared. Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds. Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and make most coastal cities uninhabitable. This report was from November 2, 1922, as reported by the Associated Press and published in The Washington Post. Then there’s this from The Washington Times - Tuesday, August 14, 2007, D.C. resident John Lockwood was conducting research at the Library of Congress and came across an intriguing Page 2 headline in the November 2, 1922 edition of The Washington Post: “Arctic Ocean Getting Warm; Seals Vanish and Icebergs Melt.” The 1922 article, obtained by Inside the Beltway, goes on to mention “great masses of ice have now been replaced by moraines of earth and stones,” and “at many points well-known glaciers have entirely disappeared.” “This was one of several such articles I have found at the Library of Congress for the 1920s and 1930s,” says Mr. Lockwood. “I had read of the just released (2007) NASA estimates, that four of the 10 hottest years in the U.S. were in the 1930s, with 1934 the hottest of all.” Dr. Don Easterbrook, Professor Emeritus of Geology at Western Washington University, has discovered that historic temperature figures are fair game to having “adjustments” made to them every few years. The previous warmer ones (those from the ‘30‘s cited above) adjusted lower and the later, more current ones (from 1998 onward) adjusted higher. Why would they do that you ask? I’ll give you three guesses.

Sea level have risen globally with 1.1 mm per year linearly since 100 years inspite of 40% increase of CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. This are very reliable data from analysis of global tide gauge measurements. 1994 with the first US satellite measurements IPCC has decided that the yearly rise is from now on 3.3 mm and accelerating. The yearly gap being 2.1 mm and the moment of truth can not be far away. The more sofisticated and much more exact newer European satellite measurements show sea level rise of 0.5 to 2.5 mm per year. The german oceanographer Hans von Storch comes to the conclusion that no relation whatsoever can be detected between growing CO2 concentration in the atmosphere, global warming and sea level rise. The net contribution of the ice melt of the polar ice shields is apparently not accelerating the global sea level rise neither. Very strange. The truth will come out soon.

The question to ask is who funded the science research. Funding available for you to prove the theory of CO2 and global warming? Politicians are actively involved in this from Al Gore to the IPCC that is what is wrong. I have no doubt burning fossil fuels/petrol burning is bad because of the pollution it causes. Could I say the CO2 content causes global warming, no there are to many variables that cause temperature increase. But if it is incentive to go electric I think that is good. The problem where it goes bad is when you talk about methane also and then people start talking about becoming vegan getting rid of agriculture etc . The main problems we face are pollution and population sustainability. As for other animal species I think CO2 is the least of their worries. Toxic chemical in oceans, plastics and over fishing/hunting and destroying habitats need to focused on first.

There is no way to determine how much , if any, of the recent modest warming is due to human activity. There is no evidence that rising CO2 levels in the atmosphere pose an immediate or imminent threat to the climate. The ice is melting in the arctic and is at record lows ... but the data record is short and the anecdotal evidence is that this is not unusual. Viking Greenland farms are still mostly embedded in permafrost and where it is thawed there still is no one farming.
