I love that when i listen to the music, i remember all the scenes, it's like you can "read" the story trough the music, i honestly have no idea how you and the musicians you'r creating this with can be so much talented. You'v said that the visuals of this game are the best you have ever seen, firstly i agree and i gotta say that this OST is the best i have ever heard too, i maybe repeting myself but the more i listen to it and play the game, the more i'm touched by it. And that scene at the end is one of the best scenes for me too, it's so well writen.
My favourite chapter. I love it because the start is so calm and there is a lot of stuff in dialogues to think about. Players dont know what will happen next, but Sophia said it at the start of the chaper- "There's a storm comming" Also thanks for the video, always excited to hear something from the game development :)
As someone who has become a real fan of musical scores to film/tv/games and other media, watching these videos with you explaining the music really shows something I've felt for a while. That the best Score Composers are not only amazing musicians, but also have an understanding of storytelling. You have clearly shown how much you understand the characters in the story and their arcs/journeys, the themes in play. I think it's the marriage of musical skill and that knowledge of how storytelling works that really makes a great composer. You have shown both in these two Plague Tale games.
15:00 totally agree, the atmosphere of this game comming from the stunning visual and well placed music really make this game an emotional roller coaster : going from nice place with happy music to bloodbath scene with disturbing music in no time . A big tragedy is that I lost my whole folder of "a plague tale : innocence" screenshots....
Very Amazing details in this chaper love it! And Ofc 22:54 that scene was soo touching 🥲🥲with that beautiful music. Incredible work Olivier Derivier! 👏👏
This chapter is so atmospheric and a great set up for the grand finale... loved the piece of music right at the beginning of your chapter 10 walkthrough
I always admire it when composers are able to implement synth in period pieces. It's usually not something to consider but it works so well (though that's the talent coming through, I'm guessing).
This last scene on the boat made me completely fall in love with Sophia... one of the greatest scenes in the game. (and I was very happy for the chance to tell this to Anna personally.. :D)
I'm absolutely loving this series, its made me appreciate the already great OST for this game so much more. Quick question: In the main theme for Requiem does the segment at 0:45 have The Wrath's motif playing alongside the Plague Tale motif? I keep hearing it in there and I'm wondering if it's intentional. I loved your work on this game, it's definitely my favorite OST of the year.
Oliver thanks again for sharing, here a little question: During the process of creating a plague tale Requiem soundtrack in any time did you go through a creative block or similar? If it's the case when happened and how did you handle it?
Luckily this didn’t happen to me. And quite the opposite. I usually have tons of ideas that need to be curated, most of the time by the creative directors.
