Olivier Deriviere Official Channel Composer for games such as Dying Light 2:Stay Human, A Plague Tale: Requiem, A Plague Tale: Innocence, Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag Freedom Cry, Remember Me, Alone in the Dark, Of Orcs & Men, Tangled, Obscure 1&2
For the first time, the game and the soundtrack made me cry not only because of the plot and the music, but because the theme is so close to me - to be able to give up and let go of loved ones. It is hard to accept your own helplessness. It is painful to allow yourself the thought that your struggle is meaningless. And it is scary to be alone. I understand all of Amicia's emotions and feelings. This uncontrollable anger. This desire, even if you are tired mentally and physically, to just move forward. This misunderstanding and rejection of the gradual inevitability. This all-consuming fear of losing that little and bright in your life. And I understand the fatigue of the tortured Hugo, who just wants to spend his last days in peace. I still have not lived through my grief, and for many years now I have been depressed with intermittent anger. And this Requiem reminds me of my senseless struggle with death. My rage at the words of loved ones that it is time to come to terms with death. My complete rejection of reality. This is an excellent game. And a totally excellent soundtrack.
Hey! I love your musics. I repaired a guitar lute with my dad last week. Will be my very first guitar (already playing piano, saxophone and accordion for a long time now). Do you have any sheet of music from A Plague Tale with a guitar lute please? :D (I saw in a video that there is a lute in the orchestra of Requiem) Thanks!
My most loved thing in Dying lIght 2 is the Dynamic Music, It really gives you the reason for parkouring. Thank you Olivier Deriviere for these amazing soundtrack and music design.
I am so grateful that you did this. Your music is extraordinary, and hearing insight from the composer themselves is such a privilege-ESPECIALLY in a such a dynamic and intricately crafted medium such as video games.
It’s crazy how much detail goes into the soundtrack for this game. I’ve never really paid much attention to special moves or the soundtrack increasing on kills. Amazing work!
Fantastic video. I wish more composers followed your example with both your behind the scenes videos & your philosophy and approach to interactive music systems and composing. Hats off to you, Mr. Deriviere.
Amazing work! Not just for Dying Light 2, but also for the video editing - love the visualizations. When I saw your video series, I had no doubt that you and your team put a lot of thoughts, hard work and love in the music! Thanks for the insights ❤
this is exactly the kind of content i was looking for when i was doing research on my favorite composers - what perfect timing to have remembered your music in dying light and subscribed! looking forward to hearing your wisdom :DD
honestly, it all should've been noticable and obvious while playing, but its so smooth you'd have to have someone point it out to make me "ohh... yeah right... now I remember it is like that!" one of best music and music systems fr
I do wish there was some parkour music at night (outside of the chase system). Some deeper, darker, more intense music to match the nightlife. I want that vibe of free-running at unholy hours. Some Mass Effect 2 Omega Afterlife sh*t. 😮💨
Will the music system get an upgrade in DL : TB? I remember asking you about making it more indepth and you said it would be possible only with an engine upgrade or something like that
While this game has had hiccups in the past, the one thing that has NEVER left is the music. I cannot help but thank you from the bottom of my heart for putting all of yours into such an amazing game. Much love
