I’m sold on buying this! Just starting my poetry journey after being an avid reader for years. I love Charlotte brontes poem! Thank you for doing video :)

Okay so. You know I love all of your videos. But this was my favourite video I’ve seen from you so far. No joke. I think we enjoy poetry in a very similar way in which we like poems that tackle morality, nature and simpler aspects of life that go largely overlooked. I absolutely loved hearing you read some of the poems in the book! I’m definitely going to read the full poem of Desiderata ASAP (as well potentially as use the term in my uni essays very soon!!!) And though I’m not the hugest grammar nerd, I thought The Poetry Grand National was absolute genius and my jaw was on the floor!!! So clever!!! So glad you’re been enjoying these poems so far and hope you enjoy the rest of them throughout the remainder of the year! I might just have to get A Poem for Every Night of the Year as that will give me something to read for my insomnia hours next year as well as get help me broaden my poetic horizons!!! Like I said, this has to be my favourite video I’ve seen from you. You read and spoke about the poems so so beautifully. Hope you’re doing well Jasmine. Much love to you as always my dear! 💙💙💙

I hope you enjoy all of Desiderata! And same about The Poetry Grand National, I was so impressed by it hahaha, it’s so great. Yes do it, I can’t wait to get my hands on the Night version as well. And the cover is even more beautiful than this one, I think😍 Thank you again for being so supportive and kind, you are very much appreciated!!x

Rebecca Books Thank you so much Rebecca, I’m so glad you enjoyed! You should definitely get the collection, I think it’s great😍 And I agree, the Bronte is so great - I absolutely love it. Aww thank you, I actually thought my voice butchered the poems haha! Thank you for saying otherwise😂

I absolutely loved this! I enjoyed listening to you recite the poems. The one poem where it mentioned not to compare yourself to others..that really hit close to home. Then the one about the niece, I just kept picturing my kids 😭.

Lori Dawson Oh thank you so much, Lori! I was worried my voice didn’t do them justice😂 Yes, I agree - it also struck a chord with me, and I think it’s something lots of people can learn from and should keep reminding themselves of. Awww yes, I can imagine that! Bless💕

I so respect how you’re actually tailoring/altering your habits. I’m always saying “oh yeah I should read more _____!” But do I ever actually do so? No! I’m really impressed by your dedication and determination

KALLIOPE (Calliope) was the most brilliant goddess of the Mousai (Muses), the goddesses of music, song and dance. She was also the goddess of eloquence, who bestowed her gift on kings and princes. In the Classical era, when the Muses were assigned specific artistic spheres, Kalliope was named Muse of epic poetry. In this guise she was portrayed holding a tablet and stylus or a scroll. In older art she holds a lyre

When Billy Collins was the U.S. Poet Laureate, he started a program with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Library of Congress called Poetry 180. The idea was for schools to have students read a brief poem each day (hence the 180 poems), as part of the announcements, or in English class, not to study, just to experience more poetry. The collection was published in a book called Poetry 180, and then a companion volume came out called 180 More. It's contemporary poetry instead of poems from down the centuries, but they're brief and concrete, and easily accessible. I really enjoyed using them in my classes.

Barter Hordes I LOVE that idea. And that collection sounds like it would be full of poetry I’d really enjoy. Thank you for telling me about it, Robert!

Woweee I loved this video so much! All the poems you read us were beautiful, but I think my favourite was the Bronte. Desiderata reminded me of the book of Proverbs in the Bible in the way the lines of advice were laid out.

Yay thank you🙈 I LOVE the Bronte poem too! It’s so lovely. Oooh interesting, perhaps Max Erhmann was inspired by that? Dude, I was wearing factor 50. I’m always wearing factor 50. I just have the most sensitive pale skin ever😂😂😂

Poetry is so good for our souls, and it’s more subjective than maybe any other art form. I think I’ve already recommended some of these to you, but some favorite collections of mine include: My Name is William Tell by William Stafford Every Riven Thing by Christian Wiman The Captain Lands in Paradise by Sarah Manguso Without by Donald Hall Individual poems I love include: Plath’s “By Candlelight” and “Nick and the Candlestick,” Sexton’s “Elizabeth Gone” and “I Remember,” loads of Tennyson, Gary Snyder, Elizabeth Barrett Browning (she was such a better poet than her husband), Yeats, Jane Kenyon.

Old Blue's Chapter and Verse I completely agree. Thank you so much for all the recommendations! I’ll definitely be checking them out😊

Oh yes, I loved that poem The Poetry Grand National by Roger Stevens, it sounds magical, whimsical and deep in meaning!! I'll try to order again recommended by you Carol Ann Duffy poetry and this amazing poetry collection! Oh, I didn't know, it must be sheer torture to read my English, I'm honestly sorry! I love English language so much, it's very beautiful but I cannot manage, still, to wright beautiful in it... Disiterate (am I saying it correctly?) is a thought-provoking poem with a good message, I need to read more of it - living your life in a good way, listen to people because every person is a masterpiece and everyone has their own story to tell... And I enjoyed listening Sharlotte Bronte poem, so many feelings in such a short poem! I love the idea of a one poem for every day and every night of the year, it's like a gift from someone who loves you and want to share with you their thoughts on life that can help you and their unique feelings that can bring you joy and make you happy!! Your video was fun and interesting to watch and listen, Jasmine! I love this children's poem 💮 by Shel Silverstein:☺ "There is a place where the sidewalk ends And before the street begins And there the grass grows soft and white, And there the sun burns crimson bright, And there the moon-bird rests from his flight To cool in the peppermint wind" ❤️😊

Кэм Асахи Yay, I’m glad you liked it! And definitely try and get your hands on some Carol Ann Duffy - I think she’s fantastic😊 Don’t apologise at all! It is not torture, don’t be silly. I just appreciate you wanting to comment and talk to me in the first place haha! Desiderata is a brilliant poem, I think. I absolutely love the idea behind it, and I think it makes some really important and valuable points. I am so glad you enjoyed the video! And thank you so much for sharing that poem - I LOVE it! Such beautiful imagery. Thank you again😊

Okay, then :) I'm happy to hear that :) No luck with two Poetry Collections. But I'll probably can find them at my hometown :) I bought The Girl who circumnavigated Fairyland and A Skinful of Shadows - I've picked it up for 24in48 readothon because the first page of SoS (!) is gripping! I own for a while The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge, I heard good things about this book, too :) Thank you, Jasmine!! :)
