@@ItsNotAProblem QD-OLED seems to be killing it in that department as well. At least it looks like it's really easier to work on OLED's problems (Brightness and life span) than mini/microLED's (Price and latency).
I feel like there would t be any benefit. You cant buy any of the cables that come with monitors and if you get a monitor with a crappy cable, just spend the $10 or so to get one if their recommended ones.
10:01 I used to have tons of stutters in RU-vid content too. But I have found that installing the AV1 and VP9 codecs from the Microsoft store fixed it 100% for me. Now I can play videos even in 8K60fps and it no longer drops frames.
would be nice to see cables tested in these unboxings since it's unlikeky to ever get on the ltt main channel. (even if it's just a mention of 'this is an 8k cable which passed our tests')
@@leopichler confirmation of what, do you have a cable tester at home so you can check that what you got is the same as what they got? Sorry the only thing that makes sense is to assume the cable is barely within spec and to get a known good one.
@@marcogenovesi8570 ?? no ltt made loads of videos on cable testing and then just stopped - it would be cool if they would check cables for us to hold them to a standard since it is a review and unboxing
@@leopichler there is no guarantee that the cable they test is what you will receive so the test is misleading. The cables bundled with products are whatever is cheapest bought from random OEMs. They tested cables sold separately because those are always the same product and should not change
@@tobiaskulvik6912 absolutely not, friend. The userbase we're talking about can find rgb implementations attractive. The object we're talking about has like 2% of all those colors. Plus the crest design itself is iconic and recognizable by the same userbase as well. The current design looks like some random cheap ass Chinese company made the logo. There is a limit to 'cleanness' and 'neatness' in logo designs. Minimalism shouldn't be limitless or practiced like a religion or essence and style is lost.
@@FirestormX9 Honestly, I got a Porsche and Porsche design clothing. I prefer the Porsche Design logo on my clothes over the crest. The crest is reserved for the cars and stuff directly linked to them.
That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw this that it reminds me of those tacky cheap RGB bluetooth speakers that cluttered up the main isle of the Dollar Tree down the street from my house over Christmas.
@@FirestormX9 no diffusion over speakers is required to prevent from sounding like it's under a pillow, and for the top it probably still needs the airflow hahaha
Your pronouncation is pretty much like you speak it, I would say as a german. Beside of that porsche design is a different company founded by the grandson of the porsche founder as a product design company. They made a lot of stuff over the years, like watches i think also some laptops and a gaming chair aswell. Porsche Design also has clothing a lot of it in collaboration with puma.
@2:30 that is indeed a Porsche logo. Well the Logo of pd (both Letters fused together) alias Porsche Design. They have designed knives, household items and watches as well If I recall correctly. Not much to do with the car company, still thoughtfully made!
The fact that this is a flat panel, so usable for productivity as well as gaming, unlike the Neo G7, and has double the dimming zones as the Tempest, definitely puts it in a niche by itself, and is very tempting...
AAA is great, it is standard, easy to replace. If it is not rechargeable, it is your fault to not use rechargeable AAAs. Linus also said some alone the line in some videos.
Now there are even AAA batteries with USB-C ports in them. They don't hold as much charge, but you don't need those annoying chargers. They should also last way longer.
Started transitioning my household to rechargeable AA(A) batteries, at least for the remote controls. It feels like it’s gonna be worth it. So far it has made me notice power wasteful devices in the house. Those have now all be decommissioned. They were a few cheap LED lights that had draining batteries when they were “off”. Took a look at the circuitry, and it had a simple PCB with a bad wireless implementation that constantly drained power. Chewed through 3 rechargeable AAA batteries in day & I never used the wireless feature. So to the trash. Well, to the soldering iron to see if I can remove the wireless component, but it’s essentially the same thing.
@@davidyang9902 hhhhh, true. But I think Linus was not recommending it to anyone at the end of the video. And rechargeable coin batteries are far less common.
Imho and also based on experience, I like equiments with separate power bricks more. Based on my experience with all my electronic equipment, the power supply always breaks first. Having them separate means I can easily replace the power supply. When my tablet monitor broke its power brick, I just rummaged in my drawer full of power bricks from old unused tech to find something with equal or higher amperage, and it's working again. Not so with my 16-channel mixer and 500W subwoofer, which had their PSU built-in. I had to remove all the audio wires, take them to a service centre, and waited a few days just for a power supply replacement. And since the 16-channel mixer is essential to my setup, I had to buy a new one and had the old one as a backup 🤷♀ It is so prevalent that I opted to convert some of my equipment with busted PSU with an external power brick.
It is like paying a $1000 premium to AOC, the actual monitor maker for the Porsche brand value. But Porsche Design and Porsche AG are distinctly different companies, although under the same holding company. (like Yamaha and Yamaha Motor Inc.)
the portrait in both directions means if you have 2 of them you can have both of the fat chins on the outside and the thin top bezels meeting each other in the middle. Which is kind of important.
Honestly out of all the luxury brand stuff you guys show on this channel this is the one that if I could afford i actually would 100% buy because I actually think it looks really cool and well built
My AOC U32U1 is also porsche designed but sticks with the AOC logo. It's actually excellent value for money for a 10 bit, aRGB 32" 4K monitor, I don't feel like the (excellent) design and build quality cost me any extra.
Sad that the remote control wasn't mentioned in detail. I felt that porsche design took into account of convenience with the headphone hangers and the remote control besides the ludicrous price tag. Honestly it is really convenient to have that remote control without leaning over to adjust the monitor inputs
I always keep the boxes and packaging for my higher priced toys, just in case I plan to resell them in the future. People buying used hardware love having the original packaging and paperwork. I know I'd prefer the original box, etc, if buying used.
This is for people who already have a 992 Turbo S, and a Cayenne Turbo GT, and the matching timepieces for each, and the Exclusive Manufaktur leather in each, with each in Pain to Sample....who also like to game or, have a nice PC that want a nice monitor to go along with their nice things 😅 (Not knocking any of that, I would love to be able to afford even just a 992 Carrera T with base Sport-Tex interior, not even a leather upgrade or any options lol)
While I don't have the money to get it, I love that this is not a bunch of cheap plastics and cleaner overall in all ways, You have something that looks professional but can be used for entertainment, and yeah If you have the money why buy the plastic ones when it's in your face all the time. Aesthetics is why you pay more, probably will last longer than the Samsung the way they have been lately, and definitely longer than the Chinese budget brands. It's the Porsche when you could get a Vette that is better in some ways for less, but look closer and you see your value in extra work and I think neither would give someone buyers remorse.
Porsche is the only luxury brand to deliver quality and good products for their customers regardless of what the product is. They really care about us and who they are. I used to be a huge porsche hater yet as time went on i changed my mind and admit as of now they are the best luxury car brand. Bently is much better but the price put them on a diff category. Porsche has a quality product for almost all budgets. And are reliable.
I like that light action with the speakers and ajustable height. 16w is roughly pc ordinary speaker as you said. It won't leave pure black traces while scrolling text like OLED but 1600nits LCD multidimming zones, for 3100$ it's not that bad knowing is Porsche and they are not well known for monitors...8K. Some people buy a plasma and it dies after a year you know, LED no and even less LCD.
Hey Plouffe. Actually there are some major issues with Samsung monitor coz it is using a VA panel and in many reviews people are saying they are seeing scan lines and other hardware issues with the monitor. Also that monitor is Curved so not for many people. This AOC monitor is really good. 32inch 4K mini-led 144hz and straight monitor. Absolutely loved it. BTW the back side is so clean and the stand is beautiful. Yeah a little bit price reduction is required.
I know Porsche is the star of the show here, but AOC really deserves some credit for their monitor game. While they have some crappy stuff like any company, they’ve got a metric shit load of monitor SKU’s ranging from very budget to super high end, and a lot of them are really good and pretty fairly priced. To me it seems like their monitors get overlooked a lot by tech-tube.
The stand is gorgeous though. I'm not sure if they ever released in the US, but Porsche Design appliances have been a thing since "forever" in Europe. So it's nothing new, it's just a design studio like any other.
I personally don't ever recall seeing any Porsche Design appliances here in the US, maybe it's because all the stuff they design is for 220/240V 50Hz, and not 110/220V 60Hz N. American standards, or the fact think if they release Porsche Design stuff here in the US, that it will look bad on the cars, as Ferrari, and Lamborghini tend to stick their logos on so many cheap tacky things here like bad smelling cologne, and crappy overprice TPU phone cases? 🤷♂
I feel like this is surely expensive but there are not really a lot of monitors with this feature set, and back when the asus pro art mini led display came out like 2 years ago, that thing cost like 4.5k, so this is at least a big step up from that era.
Just picked up a Dell G3223Q 32" 4k 144Hz monitor for $997AUD. great upgrade and about the only thing on the dell site worth buying. For your average gamer punter and drafting engineer that doesn't care too much for colour accuracy. It appears the best deal going. Works great with my RX6900XT using Freesync Premium
I feel like that Tommy Hilfiger gaming keyboard and mouse set would pair nicely with this monitor ;) Seems you can tell which brand actually employs engineers.
About 8-9 years back I was in Rome with my dad and we decided to walk into the Porsche store. I walked around a while, and being a high schooler, quickly realized the only thing I could justify (and even that's a HUGE stretch) was a 15 Euro pack of Porsche stickers! Kinda hilarious but analogous to what they've done here clearly lmao
Honestly I was expecting way less features, or way more money for it. It's 4k 32 inch, which is the absolute best balance imo as far as resolution, ppi and real estate is concerned (I strongly dislike ultrawides), 144hz are brilliant for anything other than uber sweaty competitive FPS, and the screen can display proper HDR. You do also get that fancy stand instead of just a porsche logo, and all that don't cost 2500+ euro that I was expecting. You could get the Odyssey NEO G7 for a bit less, but if you are on the market for a monitor of that calibre, you've already spent 1500 to 2500 euro for a GPU to drive it, it's not that exorbitant. Good job PD
Agreed on the power brick, I'm not mounting my PC monitors flush against a wall, so it won't kill me if they're a bit thicker. About the only plus side is if something power related fails you can likely replace it, even after warranty as long as they actually purchase extra stock for such occasions. Also some times the cable from the brick isn't long enough, so depending on multiple aspects of your desk situation it may dangle or have to sit on your desk. Also from an IT perspective, plenty of spare power cables like your PSU and old(/some new) monitors used laying around.
The 27'' monitor is actually reasonably priced at €500. 170hz IPS 1440p, basically the AOC AGON AG275QX, which retails for about 400. 100 Euros for the Porsche logo isn't quite as insane. Yes it is just a logo but in grand scheme of things not terribly insulting. Actually looks like the bezals on the Porsche one are even thinner.
Nearly couldn't stop myself from commenting what the pd logo on the Porsche Design monitor was but Plouffe's pin mercifully dropped just in time. Oh wait there I go.
Bought an AOC 24G2U (24" 1080p IPS 1ms 144hz) and it only lasted 2 years before having problems with the pixels now showing properly, LUCKILY it had 3 year guarantee and I returned it back to the shop, currently waiting for a response of what will happen but AOC is dead for me. My older generic Philips monitor (IPS 1080p 60hz) is going strong for 10 years now LOL!
Thank goodness Porsche came out with this monitor to remind everyone that you can pay literally any other brand to get a monitor of similar spec, if not better, for half the price.
Unpopular opinion: You don't need any response time faster than 4 ms. Not going to notice a different, you want OLED perfect response for its motion reliability (because it's perfect in any colour, so no ghosting or smearing - ever regardless of the scene), but not really that extra clarity. Not that you can pixel peek motion anyway, and competitive player probably need less input lag than better motion clarity
you do indeed pronounce the e at the end, of porsche. fun fact.. porsche design also makes other things. soundbars, watches, headphones... and there's apparently also a gaming chair (looks like all the other ones) for over 4000 CAD. lol I recall reading about a porche designed kitchen. that was quite weird. And on their site you can also buy porsche hoods (yes, engine hoods, for your porsche) with various designs. Also i agree. built in power bricks is easily my prefered way of doing it. Though my recent gaming monitor has a tiny tiny power brick.. which is nice. (about the size of a small macbook charger) This monitor design only seems to focus on the stand, though? the monitor itself is pretty standard. a slim bezel and the lip at the bottom. But the stand is unique, i guess? so not much point of buying this, if you're gonna mount it on an arm (which always looks best... - highly recommended!)
1:44 Once you fully "buy into" NiMH with a _good_ charger and _good_ batteries (eneloop), you want everything to have swappable batteries rather than internal... jussayin
Agreed, I wish every device with a battery was required by law to have them easily swappable by the end user, or at least a basic mechanic in the case of a car, or truck. Sealed non replaceable batteries really are one of the true environmental hazards of our time with how much e-waste they create.
This is the way. It beats a hard to service "rechargeable" that start losing charge after a few months of charging to 100%. Never mind if you don't want the device powered at all you can easily remove the battery for long term storage.
AAA is better than in-built Lithium batteries. Helps in longevity. You can use rechargeable AAA if you want to. But if they used lithium batteries, they would seal it up and make it un-repairable and even if they gave easy access with screws, the battery would go out of circulation since it would most likely be a lipo pack with some non standard funky design or something. Pencil cells are the best. Use rechargeable if you want, Never have to beg the manufacturer for spares. Overall, win-win.
BTW, the little "gear" he was playing with under the stand is a little light that projects the Porsche Design logo. I'm guessing he was opening and closing the shutter.
Respect for saying Porsche with the „e“! Most just assume German is like English and the „e“ would be silent… (wir sprechen gerne jeden Buchstaben aus ;))
I thought you said Ztube and I was like "oooh is that for like good, high quality test videos? I should check it out." I want to bleach my eyes good lord.
you were right the 1st time Porsch-uh. it is the Prsche Design logo. Duh. lol I own a Porsche, and Asus monitors work great for me. PD stuff is ridiculously expensive for no reason most of the time.
Was quite amused watching this one with the battery powered OSD controller, straight after watching Linus and the no batteries video. Nice screen, way over priced with many better options at the same or lower price. Thats the problem when you slap a Porsche badge on it.
