Another great adventure into the lands of the ancient peoples. Spectacular discovery of the numerous ruin remnants and the plethora of potshards. I am always in awe of the "rock art" and how in the heck did they get so high up, totally amazing. The vandalism of shooting at the ancient art is really pathetic. Thanks again for taking us on this fantastic adventure!!

You're very welcome, thank you for watching! They used ladders to get up high and sometimes where they stood has simply eroded away adding height. The vandalism is due to a lack of intelligence. To be able to stand in front of something that was made thousands of years ago and not be able to simply marvel at it not only for the expression it represents but also for being able to withstand time and the elements demonstrates complete stupidity.

Excellent video. How and why did this culture get here. Amazing.

The petroglyphs at this site that are almost completely faded away are ancient, probably thousands of years old. Really gets the mind working thinking about what was going on here during that time and just south of this area, in Central Mexico, the ancient cities of Teotihuacan and Cholula would have been thumping when the ancient glyphs were made here...no doubt those great first cities had influence all the way up here.

@@EnigmaClandestino I have a belief/theory that the peoples of the Southwest were a target for Mexico as slaves. Hence the elaborate, remote, cliff dwellings.

I have frequently spotted petroglyph panels that would not be visible otherwise without a good pair of polarized sunglasses (Maui Jim's). I remember hiking in Arizona Hot Springs area. On my way back to the car I noticed a panel depicting desert tortoises, big horn sheep and human figures. I had been on that trail many times before and never noticed it. Took my sunglasses off to take a better look and it instantly disappeared. Put them back on and there it was again. But mostly only visible when the light was at the correct angle. Mid day you almost couldn't see them at all.

Glad you found the Anasazi pit houses at the top!! I made a mental note to myself to check them out the next time I'm out that way. I came in from the top the last time I visited, but didn't know they were there until I researched the area a little more. Been a few years since I visited the petroglyphs there, myself, but I'm glad I took my ATV the last time I went. There were about a dozen cars and trucks stuck axles deep in the mud on the road getting there. I'm guessing the road hasn't been improved much, if at all since! That whole area and the other nearby mesa are some of my favorite places to visit in the region! I'm also curious how many more petroglyph sites are at the base of some of the nearby mesas on the opposite sites of either arroyo and further down the drainage. My guess is that there are probably some other significant panels relatively close by. Just haven't ventured beyond either arroyo. I'm actually quite curious if the "line" petroglyph is actually an aerial depiction of those arroyos. In some ways, it seems to add up with how they connect. Most definitely seems to be some kind of map or something! Makes me wanna get back out that way for another day wandering around!! 😎 Great video and adventure, as always, brother!

@@EnigmaClandestino Hey D, did you ever have a chance to meet Don Gilmore from out this way at all? You've probably seen some of his videos here on YT and his "In-the-desert" website was chock full of his adventures, GPS tracks and pins along with write-ups his wanderings. Sadly, I found out he recently passed away and now his website's no longer active. He called me about a week or two before he passed at the end of Oct. Didn't find out until after Christmas that he had passed away. It was always nice sharing adventures with him and getting out off the beaten path in his FJ. Really wish I'd had a chance to have gotten to know him much earlier than I did. He really was an encyclopedia for this whole area!

No, I never had the pleasure of meeting him and I didn't know about his RU-vid channel or website. Sounds like a very knowledgeable individual especially in regards to the desert, sorry to hear of the loss. It appears his YT channel is still up so I'll have a look. Wish I could've met him, I'm sure we would have had lots to talk about.

@@EnigmaClandestino I really wish I knew which webhosting service he used, because I'd definitely spring for the hosting fee just to keep it alive and well, even though he's no longer with us. It was really sad to see a broken gateway when I checked last month. Might have to reach out to some of our mutual friends and see if I can track down some info to try and reinstate it. There was so much interesting stuff on his website that never made it here on YT and his GPS tracks were very comprehensive!

Crazy how it appears that the varnish protects the stone from deteriorating... 🤯

I am glad that you have preserved what is here in video. There is going to come a time when those petroglyphs deteriorate rapidly! Yes, etching your chicken scratch among the rock art is criminal and childish beyond words. Have you ever been to Newspaper Rock? I've seen a few pictographs & petroglyphs while being in Nevada & Utah, but not to the degree of these ones and Newspaper Rock. I hope to visit them one day in person. It is humbling to see this stuff of antiquity, or touching an ancient Bristlecone Pine in Utah. Take care, and thanks for the vid🏹🏹✌🏻

Been watching a few of your videos, you and a few others who like to present us with a up close look at the ? Art ? I'm not sure what the ancient people of the desert south west were doing, recording? Giving directions? Telling a story for future generations? But it's obvious that they intended for these pictographs and what not to last a Long Time! For me, it seems to be the only way we have to ask of them, what was it like? Who did they meet? What drove soo many of these people to make ... camouflaged dwellings high off the ground. !! By now, most of us are pretty sure that there were very large human species and populations in the same Area. And for me, I believe at some point, there was a world wide culture building fantastic cities all across this country and elsewhere. So, at some point, these people HAD TO of come into contact with the .. new guys we'll say. And some of this art, or written descriptions that are the same 100s of miles apart might be telling us about them. The other thing that is knawing at my head is the places that they chose to chip away at what appears to be a Form of " vitrified rock " Now in order for those giant slabs of rock to be vitrified all down one side, something very big and hot had to pass by, and so far, Vellokofski is the only source for finding anything like that happening in recorded history and it was close to 4,000 yrs ago. It's pretty amazing, and most of the greatest minds seem to be ignoring this and other in your face things like the plague. ? Must be true then. Just like some of these rock structures that seem to be beyond geology may be just that, very old, gigantic creatures, Biology. So think about those things when you're gazing at a pictograph, or a large chunk of earth. I think those people built those mud and stone houses up on the cliffs because something or someone was " around " and they would definitely eat you if they caught you. 😮 😊

Thank you very much for watching! Yes, there are plenty of tales of giants from the Southwest tribes down into Central Mexico. As far as the cliff dwellings in the canyons, it would certainly appear that the people that built those had a sense of security in mind. A lot of mystery surrounds all of it!
