He is the man. Very genuine when it comes to recommending a proper shaft for you. I would say what is not just pleasing to your ear but what it is supposed to be instead.
Gen, your channel is literally the only good thing to come from the COVID pandemic. I hope you continue it after your tour starts back up. I'm sure we'd all miss you.
Absolutely brilliant. I AM a tech nerd and recently got fitted for my Rogue driver. Today I had a Trackman lesson with my Pro and we optimised the launch conditions by experimenting with lofts and also settled on the pink castle tees to improve the smash factor (efficiency) and get more centred strikes as the orange tees caused higher face strikes although the attack angle was more positive. Love data. Just like video lessons, they don’t lie - Physics after all……
Great Video Gen, i have never been fitted for clubs so it was a eye opener for me, i lost ten shots off my handicap in a week, so i will have to get some new clubs fitted for my birthday next year. You video's are a great help, so keep them coming.
I think I came to see Eric the same day as you did, judging by the clothes he wore. Anyway, I came for a fitting but went away without having one after some brute honesty from him. He really knows his stuff & loves this game. Eric really is awesome 👍
Here in UK there is a fab place - even for disabled golfers called Precision Golf. Each fitting is a real eye-opener, and with their tour player fitting expertise and extensive components not found anywhere else means you get the best head, the correct shaft that compliments your swing and even the best grip. It's the best way to spend your time and money. They done my sons ( both 5 h'caps) me off 18. They also fitting pros like Colin Montgomerie. If you ever get to an LET event here in UK give them a visit (no disrepect to Eric intended!) Can't wait to see the next vlog and your thoughts on the new driver😀
Gen, you're so detail oriented in every part of your game, that I'm shocked by your lack of equipment and ball data knowledge. I really encourage you to start watching the TGX RU-vid channel. There's so much you could learn from the data to perfect your game. It's adorable that you don't know what the toe is though. I'd love to see an iron fitting also.
great face to path here Genevieve great results that cant be beaten (these constant ad interruptions really unable to enjoy full pleasure of this video - if only they can be removed) perfect :) 😊
Hi Gen (QTIP), here's a tip for improving your AoA (Angle of Attack). Place an empty golf ball sleeve (box) about a driver head width in front of the teed ball. When you swing - the objective is to miss the sleeve (box) on the follow thru. My AoA was -8 deg and when my coach had me do this drill, it moved to +1. Now +1 isn't really that high, but when you consider where I'm coming from, that is HUGE!!
You just stepped into a whole new world where you can take your game to the next level. Using launch monitors, a "hack" like me was able to lower 5i launch angle by 8.5-9 degrees over the last 4 months. Knowing your data is key in the modern game.
That's the shaft I need, was playing with a pro 7 weeks ago before lockdown and he recommended that I come to him for a fitting as I'd need a lower launch and low spin shaft, my swing speed 10 years ago was 115mph now that I'm in my 50s it's probably closer to 105
To understand sweet spot on any club where the centre of mass is not on the face we need to know the direction of travel of the club face at impact. This way we can line up the ball with the centre of mass. If the club is travelling in-to-out (draw) the sweet spot is towards the toe, and opposite for out-to-in path (fade), towards the heel. Also, hitting up requires good flexibility and not all of us should worry about hitting down if we are not flexible enough.
I decided to put a more positive spin on 2020. Since I just saw Michelle channel. We will call this year " the year of the Malaysian Woman's golfer RU-vid invasion" 😁
I have been struggling for 2 years to get the right shaft and head. I got fitted badly into a shaft too stiff for me and I couldn't load it and the ball flight was low and to the right. At the moment I'm sticking with my high spinning driver but it's costing me some serious yards. I've lost confidence in being fitted.
It's great how your videos are expanding to different facets and information. I've noticed this a lot with successful RU-vid channels, which I think yours is well on the way to becoming. Eric seems great too so seems like a good golf partnership there. So when do we see you with your new Driver? 😊👍
Let us know if you end up liking the G425 Max over the G400 Max. We cannot yet buy the 425 series here in the US. I personally think the G400 Max is the best driver ever made. Good Luck Gen. Love your videos. They have helped my game both mentally and physically tremendously.
Gen, when you say that you got a new driver and Eric is helping you fit it... Do you mean you got the driver first, before you saw Eric, and after-the-fact he is seeing what adjustments (like shaft type) are needed to optimize your performance?
...91, 92 mph...would like to get to that speed with my driver...can't seem to get there... How do you change your attack angle? Do you swing more inside...move the ball forward...stay behind the ball a little more? Guess I'm trying to sneak in a little lesson.
Gen! Is your ping driver the , plus version or the lst version ??? This new ping does not arrive in Ireland till February I considering getting the plus version for a extra stable just easy to hit driver , I’m a 3 handicap hoping to get 0 is my ambition 😁
I hope you like your new driver. Like to see the trackman stats (low 90s club head, roughly 140 ball speed, carry around 208m/227 yards). Just a question if you remember from your coach/fitter: What length of driver are you playing, and what is your height? Would give us good reference. Sorry if that's in the video and I missed it. Good Luck!
Gen started watching and the more it went on I thought it was the comedy golf channel 😀but seriously I’ve never been a great believer of club fitters, They tell you what you want to hear because you go in with expectations you think you want and they help you along. Being a professional would be different. Am I wrong? Liked the blog 👍
i'm working hard to get that attack angle of 1.4 - 2.5....I was negative for much of the season : ( anyone know of relatively cheap monitor that gives you attack angle??? Trackman is a tad out of my price range
There are lots of monkies in the park and they steal balls. So we digged a big hole and filled it with 38,000 m3 of water. The monkies gave up and went to the other ranges.
Hit up at the ball and merry up your face and path. Also, you want to match your angle of attack with face angle so for example, you can hit up at the ball but if your face is pointing really high up at the sky, you'll still get high spin
64g shaft with 14.x launch angle and 16 dynamic loft is way too high. go with something lighter 50XS or x series. with a proper driver that's 20 25 extra yards.
I have been working alot of my driver lately. Trying to hit up on it and copying shawn clements driver videoes. You can learn alot from golf videos on youtube without needing a lesson. If I had to spend the money to get the same knowledge from golf lessons I would be out a fortune.
I have a bad taste in my mouth r.e. Fitting I've been fitted twice, once for a driver, once for irons. Neither worked for me. (Although its been a few years) I couldn't hit the driver I got fitted for. Hit it too low, too much spin. Played it a year and a half and gave up on it (gave it to my son) Got fitted for irons at a demo days. Played them for a year and a half, went to my club pro for a lesson and he said the lie was off on them (he could SEE it). Tried to bend them, but... I don't know if it was the fitter (was he poor, or didn't give me his best effort?), or that my swing is not consistent enough to be fitted, or any of a number of other reasons. But, "Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on ME" I like my bag the way it is now, but it took a while.
Hey Mike. I completely understand and actually have the same experience as you. There's nothing worse than paying for a fitting and new clubs and have them not work for you. Unfortunately, if you are not in Malaysia.. I really can't recommend a good fitter to you. I hope whoever is in Malaysia will take the opportunity they have to be properly fitted by someone who knows their stuff but prior to seeing Eric.. I did not get fitted well either and just bought everything off the shelve because of that. Not saying those sets off the shelve didn't work, but I have definitely seen the benefits of fitting (IF and WHEN they are done right) 😊
Genevieve Ling ... and I can certainly see how YOU would benefit from a good fitting being a Professional golfer, with an absolutely beautiful, consistent golf swing. You can definitely maximize your performance, 👊🏻 and like you said, are fortunate to have a coach that knows your swing and is also knowledgable about equipment AND a competent fitter 👍🏻 Another GREAT video.
Same experience here. Some of it had to do with the inconsistent swing of an amateur(I’m a 7 hdc). That’s why I am a club hoe....always looking for the club that feels just right.
Robert Court Yes, ... they put you on a launch monitor, show you numbers, and then say "THIS is good for you". Maybe 15-20 minutes. I'm sure they talked through it more with Gen (What's your normal ball flight? What are you trying to do? Etc) Not so much with me, your average weekend golfer.
