Summer is here but you wouldn't know. Actually though, it's melting fast and I'm sure there will be significant changes this next weekend leaving a lot of areas open and great. It should be a great season up there this year. On this trip I brought my nephew Mason who told me he wanted to go backpacking and fishing, which we did. It was his first time. He had a lot of fun and will likely be joining me on another here soon when we have some better places to go. All and all it was great and here is the short video to go along with it.

Nice one! Nothing like weaving through the piles to find a dry spot! I think you camped were I did last year in there. Looks like some fun fishing! Looks soggy in there! Late season start out there for sure. Deadhorse Pass has 4 feet of snow still on it! Things should get going here soon!

Yeah It's a great little camp and we had a good time. A late start is okay considering all the years we've had an extra early start. It should be a great season.

Thanks brother. Most of the bugs I tie are barbless, however, I do buy them from time to time which are typically not. I'd imagine 75% of my box is barbless.

So what would it take to get you to take another first timer out? I've grown up going to Mirror Lake Highway (just came back from there today) and am getting into backpacking. Stayed at Cobblerest to test my backpacking tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag liner, and sleeping bag. Even though it was raining and cold I slept great and was actually hot. Fished at Trial and Lost Lake. Too many people coming up for the 4th of July weekend so decided to come home. Would really appreciate any help.

I hear that. Though solitude is easy to find up there I typically avoid Holliday weekends also. That's smart to get some gear testing in before going too deep into the mountains. Send me an email at thebackpackblazer@gmail.com and will figure out a trip together.
