This was a fun solo overnighter. Fishing was good to great and solitude was top notch. Advanced warning - there is a lot of fishing in this video. If you're interested, consider checking out my other channel @SawForgeGarage
Looks like an awesome trip. 3fer fishing casts are always excellent. Get it in before Tis the season. We need to start talking winter camping man! A trip with you is long overdue. Take care brother!
Awesome! I stayed over the pass at another lake with Jay the night before your trip in here! It’s been a few years since I’ve stayed at those lakes. Looks like the forecast is gonna hold this weekend I may have to visit! 🤔 Great fishing man! You landed some nice Brookies!
yeah I got Jay's spot message, just didn't know ya'll were together. I had a great time and was pleased with the fishing. I've had my eye on the weather and really want to get out this weekend however don't think I can swing it.
Haha wait, I thought the new mega parking lot big enough for half the state would fix that issue. Luckily going in on an October Sunday I only saw a handful of day hikers. I still remember going to this parking lot/area on a holiday weekend and seeing one or two people, sometimes none. Those days are long gone but it's still an amazing place when you time it right.
Very nice video. I haven't been to those lakes in many years but I'm glad the fish were on the bite for you. It looked like you weren't even cold in the day and the wind seemed nonexistent. Maybe I'll get in another trip this year after all. What time did you start hiking in the morning and what time did it start to warm up?
Day temps were great. I started my hike up and out of there around nine and the temps were comfortable for me without a jacket. It's looking like another unusually warm October weekend this weekend with similar temps. My overnight low was 31, which isn't that bad.
Dustin, another great video! It looks like there is more dead standing than live trees. Are the beetles that bad there? Is there anything they can do to stop them? That’s devastating!
yeah the beetles are creating havoc. One long cold winter would help start killing them off, preferably a few nasty winters in a row.. These mellow shorter winters are fueling the beetles path of destruction. There are however much healthier parts of the forest. Something needs to be done to preserve what is left.
Yeah I try and avoid it for that reason. If you can get there mid-week or late in the season crowds thin out. It is a really pretty and fun area so I do get why it gets so busy.
