Sherry, when your videos show up, I know I'm about to be blessed! The thing I feel led to do is read the Bible thru 2023. I haven't read all of the books in their entirety. Also, I felt the Lord lay a word on my heart, so for the 1st time ever, I'm doing a word of the year. So instead of my hands, I suppose I'm working my mind.😉 I also want to set a few goals for my channel, but that's always a prayerful work in progress.💗 I have an old cross stitch that I never completed from 30 years ago. It just needs half of the cream background stitched, so not much is left. I may do that! Enjoy your stitching, baking, and herbs. Happy New Year!

Hi Bev and thanks so much for watching and always leaving encouraging comments for me. It really does bless my heart. I love your word of the year because the mind is so important. I think immediately of that Scripture, "Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus." (from Philippians 2) I need to work harder on having the mind of Christ because I admit that there are times I don't. It's wonderful that you have read the Bible through! I know the Lord will bless you for putting his Word in your heart and mind. I pray the Lord will prosper your channel this year! ♥

Thanks Sherry for directing us from your FB page to your RU-vid page. I’ve enjoyed it. Today in church we each picked a star from a basket and although we did not pick the word, there was a word on it. Mine was regeneration. Wow, at almost 70, I thought this is a great word for me to regenerate lots about my life. I feel like God picked it for me at just the right time. So that will be my focus for this year. Looking forward to seeing where this particular star leads.

You have encouraged me to work with my hands this year. I am going to join the quilting group at my church. Two to three yrs. ago I started crocheting a picture afghan. It is made up of 2 & 1/2 inch squares and I can't seem to get the tension right for all the squares to be the same size. I will be working on that this yr. Also, I will be baking bread in my bread machine. So glad I didn't get rid of it when I gave up my juicer. Thank you for sharing the scripture and encouraging me.

Good to hear from you sweet lady and quite life, yes. God gives us all a gift to share and I love working with my hands and giving to whoever seems to come my way and it is for them that I am to give. Remember all that coloring scripture books from Walmart you told us about years ago that we did. I love some paper crafts too, and I watch Mindless Crafting Bill and Tracy on RU-vid, she is wonderful at sharing and teaching paper crafts. I took pictures of that coloring we did and shrink it down to size and made a little book 4x6. Then I take cereal box and cut a piece and glue them to it to put them in the book. I made 2, I needed two special ladies in my life for helping with my mama this year for Christmas and they love them. It is not a costly craft to do. I am back to cross stitching also but smaller things, but the big thing I learn about 3 years ago was cross stitching in hand and starting the first stitch with the loop method. Wow, that was a game changer. Just wanted to share the information I have learned. Take care and God bless you 😊❤️

Happy New Year, Sherry! Love the verse God gave you this year. I love working with my hands. I’ve been primarily a card maker the last 3 years, but this year I would really like to get serious about learning to watercolor. I’ve dabbled in it for years, but I’d like to discipline myself to really practice the techniques. So one of my words for this year is perseverance! Also, I’ve begun to make little books/journals using the templates from Art Impressions, a stamp company out of Washington. I fill the 15 pages with encouraging Scripture along with little painted pictures and collage elements and give them as gifts to friends and family. I plan to do more of those this year. As far as living a quiet life, I quit FB several years ago because people were becoming more and more unkind. It was one of the best things I did for my mental health. Another thing is to limit my viewing of the news to basically headlines. I need to spend more time with Jesus in prayer and in His word instead. Peace, joy, and contentment come from Him, not the world. May God richly bless you and your family this year as you seek to do His will.

Your journals with Scripture and paintings sounds wonderful! What a gift of yourself and your God-given talents. I pray the Lord will fill your life with peace, joy, and contentment in 2023!! ♥

@@thehomespunwife Thanks for your sweet comment, Sherry. A friend once told me that cards and handwritten notes are so rare nowadays that when she gets one in the mail, she sees it as a precious gift. That’s always stuck with me. I think the Lord used my friends’s comment to give me the idea of starting an encouragement card ministry at my church. People come to our church’s food pantry every Thursday to pick up groceries. Another card maker friend of mine and I make cards with encouraging Scripture verses on them to include in each grocery bag. We pray over each one asking the Lord to reveal Himself, encourage, and bless each person who sees the card. We also make cards for the elderly and shut-ins. For the last 3 years my friend and I have made almost 1000 cards each year. It’s been a huge blessing for us to make them and we pray they are a blessing to those who receive them. You just never know how God is going to use a small act of kindness.

Joy was my word two years ago. This year, I couldn't come up with a word and the only thing that was laid on my heart was 'God's Word' And BOY has it rung true! I can't stay out of my Bibles! ha ha I'm currently doing a study on Women of the Bible in my Inspire Praise Bible, I'm also doing the Tear Up Your Bible reading plan and reading through the Bible this year. My husband gave me the Abide Bible for Christmas and that's the Bible I'm using for my daily reading. I also started writing out the Bible last year. I've done Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers. I'm currently in Deuteronomy. I'm learning so much because you have to slow down and write every word. It's putting so many people and events together for me. I love your theme for the year. I have deleted Instagram on my phone because I found just scrolling and looking at other people's photos really affected my mood....everyone portrays the perfect life and that's not the way life is. Greetings in Christ, Sherry! I just came across your channel and love your humbleness! I thought about this verse in the past and looked it up in the Life Application Study Bible to get some history on the Thessalonians and am a little bit confused because this is what it said: From The Life Application Study Bible: "4:11-12 Christian living is more than simply loving other Christians. We must be responsible in all areas of life. Some of the Thessalonian Christians had adopted lives of idleness, depending on others for handouts. So Paul told the Thessalonians to work hard and live quiet lives. You can’t be effective in sharing your faith with others if they don’t respect you. Whatever you do, do it faithfully, work hard, and be a positive influence in your community." So it seems to me that doing something with your hands is not so much picking up a hobby but not being lazy and depending upon others like the Thessalonians were doing. Now I have two different meanings [working with your hands as finding a hobby and what the commentary says] and it's a little confusing. I just wondered if you came across other commentaries that say what the Life Application Study Bible says about the history of the Thessalonians.
@thehomespunwife
@thehomespunwife 10 месяцев назад
I don't necessarily think working with your hands is simply picking up a hobby. I think it means being diligent and staying productive. And we can be productive in any number of ways, such as sewing, cooking, baking, building, writing, creating, gardening, working in the office or out in the fields. I really don't see two different meanings in what I have shared and what the commentary is expressing. The Church at Thessalonica was not unlike churches today. Churches are not perfect places. They are full of imperfect people. But those people are learning to walk in faith, to trust in Christ, and to follow his Word. While salvation is immediate, growing in faith is a journey. In Thessalonica, it seems some laborers had stopped working because they thought the end times were at hand and Jesus was returning right away. It's also possible some lived off the kindness and charity of the church. Whatever the case, the Scripture reminded them that they weren't to be idle but to continue working with their hands, staying busy doing productive things, and minding their own business. These things are still important today. Thanks so much for watching!♥

Hi Jennifer! I love your goals and completely understand about not taking on anything new. Sometimes, it's important to step back and take a break from things. Blessings on you in 2023, friend!♥

Hi Sherry, I thoroughly enjoyed this video and glimpse into your heart. I feel the tug you described between being busy online and living a quiet life. It is a challenging see-saw. Can I ask you to pray for me, that I will be receptive to what God has in mind for me? I don't want to miss His will and His blessing. I will pray for you, too. I just know God is going to pour goodness into your life in the time you spend at home working with your hands. XOXOX Michele

Hi Michele and welcome to my channel, friend! I appreciate you taking time to stop by. I would love to pray for you and I am grateful to know you will pray for me, too. Last year, I filmed less than I have since I started my channel....mostly because I was feeling uncertain in how I wanted to proceed or, better yet, how God wanted me to proceed. Right now, I am taking things one step at a time, as trite as that sounds. So please pray for me, that I would follow God's guidance as I move forward. I filmed a video earlier today and mention you in it because I show the grain mill I got for Christmas! Thanks for all you do to minister to others with your knowledge and wisdom about so many important things. ♥

@@thehomespunwife oh, thank you! I appreciate it more than I can say. Taking things one step at a time is exactly what I am doing this year. I'm excited to see your next video and will keep praying for you to hear the still, small voice that guides you. :) Michele
