I’m glad to see you making videos and I love being able to see the perspective y’all have. I enjoyed the movie, though the script could have been neater. The performances were amazing and the direction was amazing.
theFLICKpick When I was watching this movie, there was an old lady who yelled “Oh!! So they have to be quiet!” Like she hadn’t seen the title of the film, or any of the trailers.
i thought it was ridiculous.... did her character seem like the kind that wouldn't have entered teh "forbidden room" which is not locked dozens of times by now?
Not true, those creatures were indestructible. No one figured out how to kill them until the end of the movie. I think they showed a video clip of one of the creatures getting blown up and being unaffected.
Parent logic for this film: our first kid made noise and got killed so let's make a smaller more screamy version of him! It'll be fine! We just put him in this soundproof box for most of his childhood doped tf out his mind! we're such good parents!
1. Why would a monster that attacks based on sound suddenly be more frightening than just a monster attacking? Is attack based on sound really that much more frightening? 2. Why do the parents, after already losing a child, be so cavalier about their kids running around ALONE on the property? 3. Why not live near the waterfall or river? If the monster attacks based on sound, WHY LIVE IN THE MOST QUIETEST PLACE POSSIBLE? That's like a monster that attacks with nocturnal vision, and you decide to hide in a fucking cave. 4. How in the hell did that monster end up in the cave after the wife gave birth? Did it hear something? How did it get there? 5. Monster can hear through concrete up to miles and miles away, but can't hear basic sounds like footsteps, breathing, etc... 6. Monster can rip through steel corn silo but can't rip through a truck? 7. I'm assuming baby was an accident, because if not then why have one? 8. Why not set up traps or contraptions that utilize sound to draw monster away or towards something else? Like a bomb. Strap a bomb to a radio. Why didn't they try ANY of this? Use sound to your advantage, Jesus. 9. I dont understand why, after having dealt with the monsters for over a year, suddenly they become unmanageable. What was the catalyst? They did pretty good for a year, until their child died... What set in motion these chain of events? 10. Two fucking racoons manage to survive and not make ANY SOUND for over a year? 11. The family was extremely careless about leaving doors open. They almost trusted themselves way too much.
If you've ever tried to write blogs or shoot vlogs, it's not that easy to be consistent. Sometimes you just don't feel like doing it, and that's fine. If you've got something else going on, or another interest you're pursuing, you don't have to keep producing content. If he's going through something in his life with moving and his former relationship and maybe writer's block, I don't think it's unreasonable.
Yes Paramount did confirm it. But personally, I'm hoping for a prequel. I want to see the first days of the invasion and chaos. Or focus on another family. While I liked the family in this movie, you could do so much with this franchise. The name alone will get people back in the seats
Bro did you say wait a week or two for your reviews? I'm not gonna hate. You made me think I could do what you do and I started my own movie review channel. Hope you get back in things soon. Now your review. Yes I enjoyed it. You guys have great I interview styles. Keep them coming bro.
Seeing the flick pick logo behind chris‘ head makes me want him to have a tiny john-head floating around him all the time. It would be his sidekick and it would constantly make john-quotes... „don‘t get scared now!“.
The sacrifice scene was also my favorite. I’d like to imagine my dad doing the same for me in another life, ya know, the one where he didn’t leave my mom before I was born. Lmao
What makes it even worse is he KNOWS his family will be vulnerable when he's gone but he has no other choice this is the only thing he can do to protect them yet he won't be able to keep doing it. Ironic no?
Late to show but I really can’t understand how people that like the movie can suspend disbelief with a movie as inconsistent and contradictory as this one. There are no rules, in horror movies there have to be some sort of rules in order to connect with the characters, this movie was so unfathomably contrived and idiotic I was just pissed of the whole time.
Holy shit balls. If you make me wait another month I will put 4 ice cubes in your damn cup. Please dear lord return to 2015 form. Put that depression down NOOOWWW. (Arnold voice)
The one thing that bugged me about the movie was the concept of the monsters. The played it fast and loose with the lore of the creatures, they make an absolute rule that even the faintest sound - to the point that even whispering is forbidden - will attract these things. Assuming they stay away from persistent noises like rivers/waterfalls/etc, rain/hail must drive these things crazy. The blowing wind? Scattering leaves/debris? Insects? Cicada season?! Unlike with humans, you can't blindly hack and slash at insects. Emily Blunts character was able to divert attention using an oven timer, yet this age-old diversion tactic was ignored for the rest of the movie to fatal results. Throw a stone off somewhere?! People with eyes have been fooled. And last of all, they killed it. No. You do not kill a monster like this, in a movie like this. You open up a whole can of worms when you do so. Nobody else figured it out? In all that time, consider that the newspapers were still publishing when the hunt-by-hearing thing was discovered, hence some form of order (military perhaps) existed. No military-brain somewhere figured out that since they need sound to navigate, perhaps confuse or even stun them with high frequencies?! All in all, good movie, bad monsters.
Please post more vlogs and funny vids, ur vids got me through the boredom of being out of school last summer, and idk if I can make it with you posting once a month, if you could post one or two a week on each channel you would literally be my role model
Take out the papers and the trash or you don't get no spendin' cash If you don't scrub that kitchen floor you ain't gonna rock and roll no more Yakety yak don't talk back
Ben Wasserman No kidding. I don’t get why people think Signs is some kind of masterpiece, it’s utterly ridiculous at times. I haven’t been much of a fan of the Nostalgia Critic lately, but I still remember how great it was watching him mock how utterly INCOMPETENT the aliens in Signs were. “WOOD!”
Ben Wassermann god, I hated this movie. It´s just well made! it´s good on a technical level, but seriously, is that everything for critics nowadays? The script, especially towards the end, started to insult my intelligence so much, that I couldn´t even finish it. You know, suspension of disbelief is one side, this movie is the complete other side, to me!
I hate the idea that they're considering making sequels to this masterful film. This is going to turn into a lousy franchise. Even Emily Blunt explained her reluctance to do sequels. Krasinski discussed possibly exploring the story from another perspective, but it won't be as captivating or as emotional as the original concept.
What’s up man, I was just sitting here and I felt like I hadn’t seen ur videos in a long while and then this video popped up aaaaand yeh, once again another great video 👍
I was just thinking, what if everyone who was still alive built a gigantic sound proof box that talk or reaction RU-vidrs use and had a speaker to attract the creatures and they just locked up all of the creatures and dumped them in the river
Dude, I just wanna say that you are looking great! Your muscles are looking natural, and it doesn’t look like your on steroids anymore 😂 no offence. Also your videos as of late have been very well made, and your humour is on point as usual!
I did not like A Quiet Place. It was just fine, definitely did not deserve the praise it got. I felt there were too many flaws that everyone would just make an excuse for. Example: After she gives birth, she slams her hand on the shower window (mixed with cheap jump scare noise) and the monsters didn't hear it? Stuff like that, among other things. Krasinski did a good job though on a technical level.. btw Love your reviews, sir!
Liam Brant Yes. I didn't like it. Doesn't mean I hated it. It was just fine. Not bad, not good... Don't just read the first few lines. I said Kransinki did a good job, doesn't make it a good movie.
The part with all the newspaper warning everyone to be quiet was one of the stupidest things of the movie. Have you ever heard how much noise a printing press makes?
Im glad most people really enjoyed Krasinki’s film. That being said, I questioned the characters decisions every 5 minutes so that brought the movie down for me.
Smart? The movie is pretty dumb... From the start when they let the kid die to the end when a women and a girl kill one of the monsters that is terrifying the human race?
Vincent Marduk Maybe you're having an approach a little too logical and realistic. It's not a documentary, it's an horror movie. Realism maybe wasn't just their priority.
Kadafi69 well it looks like he wrapped the room (at least the corner for sure) in sheet metal and corners are naturally sound nightmares so just adding sheet metal makes for a weird annoying sound.
I thought A Quiet Place was a pretty good horror flick, but I think it's a bit overrated. It isn't groundbreaking or holy original, but it is very enjoyable to watch
That kid was killed by his negligent parents. 2 times in that store that kid did stupid things that nearly made noise and what did they do? They all walked off leaving the kid alone! This is bad parenting in any time and it's absolutely idiotic in this movie. Also, I think that we would be able to wipe out any kind of threat from creatures like this. There are a lot of ways these things could be trapped and killed if all they needed to do was make noise to attract them. Overall, this was a boring and stupid movie.
I loved the film!! Great performances and very suspenseful. The one thing that annoyed me about the film, is the waterfall scene. I know it is necessary to set up the premise of bigger sounds masks smaller sounds. But why don't they set up a home there so the baby would be able to make some sounds without being confined to a box. If the father is able to yell at the top of his lungs without the creatures hearing him, then the baby could also be allowed to cry. On the other hand, if the creatures hunt by sound, then a waterfall would probably not be that much of a cover. They must have adapted to the sound of rushing water, and then know how to zone it out and focus on the sudden sounds made by possible prey, thus they wouldn't be able to make a sound by the waterfall. Only other unfamiliar sounds like the fireworks would mask smaller sounds... I might just be overthinking it and it is a small part of an otherwise great film!
i think people give this movie too much credit, it was fun, and i wouldn't mind watching it again, but so many things made very little sense. the death of the kid at the start of the movie is the biggest example, it was set up in such a clumsy way, if you didn't see that coming from 10000 miles away, do you even film? the color coded planks of wood in the house? the idea being those are safe to walk on because they don't make noise... to find what planks don't make noise, you'd have to test them all to find the ones that DO make noise, at witch point you'd be dead...from the noise...but if the noise isn't loud enough to be heard by the things, why the shit even bother in the first place?
just wanted to say everyone has noticed that there has been a lack of reviews, so many movies you have seen in the theatre (according to social media) but have had no video reviews for. I'm just throwing an idea out there but to play catch up perhaps you should make one video talking about all the movies you have missed out on reviewing when they were released. just quick and basic thoughts on those movies one after the other, no need to drag your thoughts out.. just quick and straight to the point. just put the titles in the video name and people will watch.
I kind of loved the movie for many reasons, but as a sound engineer there was a voice in my head screaming "THAT'S NOT HOW FUCKING AUDIO WORKS!" every 5 minutes or so. I suppose it's a credit to the directing and acting I could still enjoy a movie with so many plotholes in it's main mechanic.
I don't understand people saying this movie was so quiet.. It was one of the loudest movies I've ever sat thru. The melodramatic stock 'suspense movie' score is absolutely unrelenting throughout.
D Joseph not really, because they would've run out of food and there's just not enough space for all of them to live close enough to the waterfall to have functioning lives and store food and clothes and tools. Not to mention that river will freeze so there will be MONTHS of them having to not make sound after spending the other 9 months being so used to making noise. Not to mention they're more exposed to other stealhtier predators and diseases living out in the wild.
Chris, you can see solar panels on the roof the house. That's how they got the energy. They showed it but it was quick so many people might have missed it
Just finished watching the movie with my sister. I am kicking myself for not watching it initially. One word to describe A Quiet Place: *intense* Now, I'm excited for Quiet Place 2!
I could personally pull this film apart, but for me, we have to except that the world have been destroyed by these Aliens, but all you need to defeat them is a pump action shot gun............OOOKay
I absolutely loved this film. But then, I think most families should just be silent. But that aside, it said so much about how any noise affects us. And how would it be if we had to be silent? There sure as hell would be no more technology.
A great film. My only problem with it was the fact Emily Blunt apparently gave birth to a child after being in labor for only 5 minutes. That must be a world record.
