Lol he has much better tracks than Slumdog Millionaire. But since this is the one movie produced by the West, it receives much more attention. Listen to his earlier Albums (Bombay, Roja, Dil Se, Taal etc.), you'll truly be in bliss!

Why this is even a comparison? It’s simple not all music composed for other Indian movies did not make it to Oscars . The way we Indians react to music in a movie is way different west people do !
