VERY WORRYING...

It goes without saying that RU-vid is a public platform and our channels are popular with kids, and kids are influenced by what they watch. I'd like to think these kids didn't get the idea from my channel.
A warning in a video DOES NOT exonerate you if harm should come to a kid that was copying something that YOU have portrayed as a fun activity.

THE MRMATTANDMRCHAY CHANNEL, established 2008:
I'm passionate about uploading quality and interesting videos for YOU, my audience.
What is my channel about? "Old lift machinery made interesting", old air-raid sirens, prehistoric alarm equipment. If "I" don't find it interesting ...then IT DOESN'T GET UPLOADED!
I always spend a lot of time editing my videos with animations, video in-sync with music and voice overs to make them this way.
My moto - "Quality NOT Quantity" - spending a month editing a video is not a rarity!
But without you, I'm nothing here. Thank you so much for watching.

THANK YOU very much for watching :)

That motor sounds so satisfying! The lift looks more like a 1960s lift despite it is a 1980s lift like you said in the description.

The only reason I suggested 'early 80s', is by it's behavour, it's unlikely to be relays and more likely to be a PLC controller (like these ones: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RAyqPEdBXV0.html ). But the PLC could have been added later, and maybe you're right that it is 70s!? Hmmmm, a bit like these: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RAyqPEdBXV0.html this is a PLC, but I think we're modernised in the 80s (PLC added), because I remember them somewhat as a kid.

Hmm...difficult to tell about the originality of this lift though. Wish we could have a more detailed look inside the motor room, that way we can probably tell how old this lift actually is.

The whole building has a strong 60s/70s vibe to it I think, those vinyl floor tiles, the cast-iron radiators, aluminium windows, everything. The bit of original formica in the car around the panel does too but the other walls don't, suggesting the lift has indeed been modernised at some point.

BT Telephone exchange, can tell by the electrical locks on the outside door, the alarm panel that always beeps, radiators etc. BT exchanges are full of marvels of old lift technology, rarely modernised! You need to visit loughborough telephone exchange. Old Express lifts relay logic in their!

Agree with the comments about the fixtures being an Otis rip-off....A&P Steven (a Glasgow lift manufacturer) also used these Otis Lexan-esque buttons and indicator panels.

If I was here, I think I'd have to have a look behind that floor indicator panel to see how the cover plate and lamp assembly was done :)

I've a feeling I know who made this, Furse of Nottingham, and reason I say this, is certainly looking at the internal floor indicator and the sound it's making, is very much like the one in the old CO-OP building, in Long Eaton, Derbyshire (Now part of a snooker club, that shut down a few years back), and that was most certainly built by Furse.

It looks like a knock off of an Old Otis there with the 80s touch sensitive buttons e.g. In Blackpool Tower
@Lift.Tracker
@Lift.Tracker 2 года назад
Yes, I agree. The lift does seem to have a bit of a ‘knock off’ look to it! I think it’s because it isn’t made by any particular manufacturer. It appears to be an old version but of what we’d call a ‘generic lift’ today. Definitely with the buttons, like you said. “Press To Ascend / Descend”. Very much an old Otis thing there. A bit of inspiration may have been taken lol!
@Lift.Tracker
@Lift.Tracker 2 года назад
Very nice! I like the colourful floor displays. They look like neons to me judging by the way they’re pulsing, or are they just lamps with resin? What do the call buttons on floor 1 look like? Is the lift able to handle multiple calls, or one at a time?
@mrmattandmrchay
@mrmattandmrchay 2 года назад
Too bright for a neon especially to shine through the diffuser. Those are all likely to be lamps. The pulsing is weird, much slower than the 50hz that we're used to, so I'm thinking there is another transformer in the cabinet which is somehow running at a slower frequency? A complete guess, but it looks cool!
@Ragnar8504
@Ragnar8504 2 года назад
@@mrmattandmrchay Could that be some kind of interference? I can't really see why someone would bother to convert mains AC to a lower frequency, unless it was needed for some other specific task. A handfull of European countries has 16.7 Hz overhead power supplies for trains and I've actually seen emergency lights running off that traction supply in a station building. There already are 230 V transformers for switch track heaters and I suppose running the emergency lights off of those was easy. Not in the UK though, at least not widespread.

I really want to know what brand this is because I found one pretty much the exact same to that one in Manchester, it even had same buttons and same motor noise. So do you know what brand of lift this is?
@Lift.Tracker
@Lift.Tracker 2 года назад
I think it’s an early version of what we’d call a ‘generic’ lift today. Built using bought in parts for a wide range of different manufactures, and assembled by a small company that nobody’s heard of.

@christopherwadden-holmes2073
Didn't Car Park 2 in Bracknell have two of these lifts that travelled between the lower 3 floors of the car park? I seem to recall they made that low-pitched "bra" sound, whereas the other lifts in Car Park 2 that served all the floors had that higher pitched "brie" sound. I used to refer to them as the Brie and Bra lifts (at an age before I knew what Brie was..or a bra for that matter).

@mrmattandmrchay
@mrmattandmrchay 2 года назад
hmmmm... the reason I picked "early 80s", is because this is more than likely a PLC controller. Unfortunately we didn't get a view of the controller, but just by it's behavour I don't think this is pure relay logic (which would be 1960s/70s).
