42:58 for the same motor RPM, a smaller wheel would be going at a SLOWER surface speed on the edge of the wheel! Bit of a mix-up there!

Sopko is about 15 minutes from where I live. Driven past there a hundred times and never knew where they were until recently when I picked up a small 6x12 Sanford.

Between the needle, and the tapered section, that's the screw-able collar that un-threads, thus releasing the needle.

May I suggest you contact Steve Summers - a RU-vidr who specializes in various grinding activities as well as being a machinist and fabricator. He seems to have knowledge regarding sources for the grinding wheels etc. and the mechanics of grinders... He has a big DoAll grinder too...

I was wondering about how he adjusted the belt tracking, and you asked him about it almost at the same time. It's always more fun in a shop, when a friend comes over, and we get to show off our latest projects and toys. Is the wheel you're getting going to give you a better finish? A motorcycle wheel balancer would be good for balancing that wheel too.

Tell Don, I’m very jealous of his 2 x 72 Belt Grinder. Probably be too expensive to ship all the parts of the kit here downunder unfortunately. Guess I could just buy the plans online, download them & make one myself I guess.🤷‍♂️🙏

Your taper is 3 inches per foot. Small Harig's are 1inch small end, 1 1/4 inch big end with a 1 inch long taper. Yours is 3 inch per foot: (1 inch small end, 1 1/2 inch big end over 2 inch taper length). Call Sopko. They are the BEST mfg. of grinding hubs. I have 16 of them for my Harig. Is your balancer an Anderson? Looks to be. That balancer, if it is an Anderson. is about $1400 new. My Anderson looks to be the next size larger than yours; bought it used on Ebay. Spin one of the wheels with your finger & it spins 2 min 18 seconds before it stops. That's how you test the brgs. in each wheel. PS: make your own balancing arbor. The Sopko one to fit my Harig wheels is $250. They are easy to make.
