A Regular Cab GMC Sierra With A Flatbed? This Is The Kind Of Dream I Can Get Behind!

Today at SEMA GMC showed off the Sierra that so many of us want, but GMC still refuses to build: a badass off-road truck with a flatbed, two winches, 40-inch tires and an honest-to-God regular cab. Not enough? This baby has the diesel too. Sadly this model seems destined to live its life as a concept ad GMC says they have no plans to actually make it. WTF GMC? If anyone could, you could!

Not many ordinary people buy regular cab pickups because the dealers and manufacturers don't sell them to ordinary people. I only want to buy one, not a fleet of them. I am just me - not a corporation.

What i wonder is, why does this style of truck bed provide that the normal pickup truck bed style does not? Also, why is this style so popular in Australia (see Land Cruiser 70 series) but not in the US or Europe?

Part of the answer is that people have chosen to make their bed like this and people love to choose their own things. This also provides a flat bed across the entire back of the truck without indents for the wheel wells. That's part of the reason this sits so much higher up compared to a standard bed. -Travis

I'm currently a regular cab 4x4 shopper. I'd like to see the 1500 get the interior of the 2500. I don't mind not having luxuries too much but do wish the infotainment in the 1500 matched the 2500. A bed like this is available from a company in Colorado and well as Canada. It makes sense and I wish it was more readily available. We will either buy a new GMC or an older Tundra (14-17 regular cab). Alex you do awesome reviews. Both quick and long, thank you for this one. Cheers!

I dont know what I would do with these features, I have an office job, but I love how industrial and practical it looks. I would love to roadtrip wiht this and a whole bunch of camping stuff in the back. Imagine this on the new serial hybrid RAM truck....

There's no way a short person like me will be able to get into that vehicle without some sort of step ladder, much less load any cargo into the bed of that truck without struggling.

How about some deets on the suspension modifications to fit 40” tires, are they going to offer an AEV lift for GM HD trucks, availability of the AEV Salta wheels, that bumper, that brush guard, fender flares, trailer hitch, etc? Don’t really care about available trim levels of the regular cab. There are so many modifications on this vehicle and you kind of glossed over them.

I would do this with the quad cab. I do wish they had an option to order the truck(s) without the beds. There are really good aftermarket flatbeds out there.

I've always wondered why a super basic flat bed isn't the base offer from the mfr, then upcharge for a standard bed with tailgate.

I build a ram 3500 chassis cab with a Featherlite aluminium deck back in 2010. It did cost way less than a 3500 with a box and could carry 4 standard pallets or any other ungainly stuff.

GMC should make a 2-door AT4X based off the SLE geared for enthusiasts. Not everyone needs or wants a 4-door.

@@AAutoBuyersGuide because automakers shifted to 4-doors leaving behind bland options for regular cab trucks. If I was just by myself I would really love to have a truck along these lines. The last great 2-door 3/4-ton was the 2005-09 Power Wagon, sales killed that truck.

I think they'd sell more 2 doors if they put all the goodies in them. Like give me a 2 door denali I'd sell both my cars tomorrow. Also you can get a regular 2500 without a bed from the factory without it being a cab/chassis
