Welcome back! (I didn’t get the memo). Agreed. Curts’ TOE Channel is most valuable. I’m also a supporter and like you would encourage as many people to do the same.
Nowadays, use your favorite LLM chatbot to simplify esoteric concepts and then build back up to follow the train of thought in whatever interesting dialog you come across
I love Kurtz channel! But sometimes a four hour video is a bit much… I will honor your request and try to help anyway I can … So grateful to see that you are OK I have missed your presence … Think of you often 🦋🕊🌹
We definitely know what/s happening around us. I've watched you for a while, glad you're back. It's nice to hear about your success. I hope this corner can keep holding together. On to Quality :)
I love the way that you frame the upending, and the reasons that is hard to monetize. I have been contemplating a metaphor: social/civilizational temperature (collision velocity) and pressure (collision frequency) give rise to a system/civilizational state-change. But there is a back-pressure that resists the bifurcations. The existing institutions depend on a reliable method of monetization, and this phase transition is similar to moving from liquid to gas. The containers that worked great for storing liquids (cups and bowls), are almost completely ineffective for storing gases, so there is a resistance to allowing the gases to express, or an attempt to put higher walls on the existing containers. The metaphor starts to break down (needing an enclosed container to retain the gases, etc.), but hopefully some insights penetrate the opaqueness. There is a lot of work on noticing that none of our institutions are really geared up for working in a well established and widely governed commons, and so these institutions resist that transition, but with AI and changes in metaphysics, physics, chemistry, finance, education, and biology, it is clear that the existing institutions are not going to persist in their current form. I'm only 3 minutes in to your 11 minute video, so I'll likely (hopefully) have some cohering thoughts in a few minutes! :)
Yes, more thoughts. I like the metaphor Pirsig uses of clearing away accumulated silt. Another metaphor comes to mind. While a rising tide lifts all boats, it also eventually sinks all peaks. Those who are currently standing on peaks about to be swallowed by the tide would be wise to embrace the flood rather than attempting to fight it. Thanks for the injuction to support Curt. Heeded. And don't hesistate to mention if there are ways we can help you bridge your gaps as well. We've missed you!
I've thoroughly enjoyed your exploration of Pirsig's work, and it has been both interesting and rewarding. I wish you the best of luck in your ongoing adventures in this unique corner of the internet and in your professional pursuits. /GG -- Additionally, for everyone in this comment section, I'd like to draw your attention to Bernardo Kastrup and the Essentia Foundation's "20th-century must-reads" list, along with their upcoming videos featuring book reviews. Personally, from that list, I found Owen Barfield's "Saving the Appearances" to be a valuable read. If you find Barfield's work intriguing, you might also consider "What Barfield Thought - An Introduction to the Work of Owen Barfield" (Cascade Books 2023).
hey, i donated a couple of bucks his way...watched a couple of shorts and the math blew more gray hairs out...just happy to ride a motorcycle around and feel the wind.
