So on the OG's did you say that the bottom was replaced? Where would I get that done? I have the same color way (6's) from 2009, But the bottoms are really starting to yellow.. but the rest of the shoe is in perfect condition. If I could get them restored with the clear bottoms again that'd be so awesome!!
@@NoUseForAName0626 search youtube for unyellowing clear soles and some people will mention a sauce. It's basically salon care 40 which you can get at the store. Lots of tutorials on youtube on unyellowing. Processes are almost all the same.
Thanks for bringing back memories...I was 10 when the OG infrared came out...I had the fire/red 5s but the 6’s got me hooked...I went to my brothers b-ball practice and some kid cane in with these on and I couldn’t take my eyes off them...my older bro ended up getting the Maroons and we filled out the flight club card...man this shoe is timeless...def getting a pair of these next week...thanks again
I can remember my mother surprising me with OG's I was so happy I slept with the shoe. I would stare at them for hours. I can honestly say that the feeling putting those original Jordan's on was a feeling as if you were able to do anything. The quality was there and they looked so much better broken in. I still have a pick in 91-92 with these on feet. My all time favorite sneaker!!!
I'm with ya on that one man. It really does look a lot better with the thicker font/stitching. It's also pretty crazy how the jumpman logo has been refined over the years and now looks a hell of a lot better.
Quickscxping i know! An it had more of a contrast against the heel to! But the 2019 pair ain’t bad at all I’m not complaining just happy they got the red better because the 2014 red is wack af reason why i passed on those
What so many people fail to realize is that Jordan brand needs to keep making minor changes from 1 retro to the next for several reasons but 2 main reasons in particular: 1.) To distinguish one from the next. People, especially who collect, need to be able to distinguish from 1 retro to the next at a glance. It's a lot more difficult to scam someone who knows exactly what to look for. You can't tell a collector you're selling them a '91 pair when just at a glance they can tell they're obviously a 2000 pair. And..... 2.) To keep people buying the same pair of sneakers every 5-10 years. If the 2019 pair was exactly the same as the 2014 nobody who owns a decent pair of the '14s would have any reason to buy a pair of '19s. I have 2 pairs of the '14s and I loved them pink and all. And I'll definitely be getting at least 2 pairs of the '19s. I remember being 13 years old when the originals released and there was a foreign exchange student from Turkey at my school that got all of the coolest sneakers including these. This was the first sneaker I ever fell in love with and started me out as a sneakerhead 28 years ago. And it's still my favorite sneaker of all time to this day. I really appreciate your videos, especially the OG to retro comparison videos. Keep doing what you do. The younger generation could really use some sneaker history lessons and for us old heads it's just a great reminder of a time when this sneaker game was new and fun and we didn't all know everything about colors and material quality and everything else...... we just loved the shoes.
@@philipkj4 yes that too. Although I do have a couple 10+ year old pairs that are still hanging on but I also have some from 2012-2014 that are crumbling pretty bad.
I had the og's in 1991, I wish I had kept them I loved them. Retro's dont feel or look the same, especially the toe they dont make the toe with the hard support like the originals had.
The year was 1991, I was a 6th grader in elementary school but my dad and I loved watching the NBA together, especially because of Michael Jeffrey Jordan dominating the scene. Long story short, I still have a pair of brand new, never tried on, Infrared ‘91 Jordan’s from my childhood size 10 that HAS this neoprene lining covering the tongue as shown in this video 🤯😱 I always thought they were odd so it’s great to see there’s someone else who has them! 🤪👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I Have all of them... and each one has some thing different... I collect JORDAN 'S !!!! THE GREATEST BALL PLAYER.... TO TOUCH THE ROCK!!!! BX...183RD!!!!
The durabuck we feel on OGs now has changed so much due to age it feels rough and stiff, but back in the day was soft and stretchy enough to wrap the foot. I remember it vividly on the originals my parents bought me as a kid. Durable yet very flexible so a perfect combo for performance and comfort. That may be why on the VI it's only used on the forefoot and scrapped for the heel cup. Made OGs comfortable and versatile instead of the stiff lifestyle boot they put out now.
I Had Em Since Months Old In 1991 Durabuck Made The Quality Jordans $125 Was Alot Of Money Back In The Day No Cell Phones Internet Or Standing In Line For Em.....Almost 2 Years I Won That Auction For OG Black Infrared Along With OG Carmine VI The Regular Midsoles Was Cracked & Gone Til I Soleswapped Em Last Year In May And Still In Fair Condition
I have a pair of 6’s that’s all that matters now! 🤙🏽 My parents couldn’t afford the OG and I didn’t get enough pocket money to save. I’m just grateful I could afford a pair of 2019!
That shoe was such a big deal in my life in 91.. I sat an looked at the ad for months. A few kids at school had them. The nostalgia never gets old. The design still brings back those feelings.
I think the same thing. I have my 2014s on right now. It feels like they've been in a freezer...lol..They changed the mold as well. I agree the 2019s feel way better. The puff on the heel sticks out more as well. I love em
I was 11 almost 12 when I first saw the Jordan 6 black infrared. It was too late to get my own pair because it was late 1991. The shoe's been retroed a few times and I kept missing out on them. I can't wait until they come out again. I will be saving and keeping an eye out for them.
I had these in 1991 when they first came out...beat them to death. Had the 2014 rerelease, but sold them. I found these 2019 at a Platos Closet last year, great condition (Some yellowing on bottom clear soles, sides...was able to ice them back up last Summer) I grabbed them. BUT, I WAS concerned about that back "NIKE AIR" logo, thinking "This is way off...ugh, a fake!?" After diving into photos, other YT videos..yeah these had that thinner Nike logo font. Got them legit checked also and everything is fine. Sure, I love the thick Nike font much better...but oh well, not a big deal. Just pretty thrilled to have these back again!
My best friend got the original 6s when we were in elementary. my family couldn't afford them at the time and he was nice enough to give me the box and I still have it to this day.
I still own my pamphlet from my og pair from 1991 that I used to have back in the day when I was a kid. Can't wait till next saturday to cop my pair, absolutely love these
I got all the infrared release the OG 1991, 2000 deep infrared 2010 packages release, 2014 and the 2019. The 1991 are the best ever and the 2019 color is the same as the 1991 that’s the only thing they got right.
GREAT comparison! These vids will keep me coming back as long as you do them. Absolutely love them! You can tell how much work went into this and you deserve props for that! Keep it up, man! Great job!
I have a quick question. Do u have the Jordan 6 white infrared and the white varsity ones they released in the same year in 2010. I think one came in a pack. I was wondering which one had better leather quality
Love your comparisons with OGs bro or any comparison you do in general. I must say that my favorite from the retros are the 2000 infrareds. Most definitely the best shoe with color and overall shape that ISN'T the OGs.
Wow for somebody who is a super purist, I'm surprised you think the 2014 is similar enough to the 2019 that you can pass on the 2019. For me the 2014 never scratched the itch of having the infrareds. That synthetic nubuck they used was super cheap, and scuffed really bad. The step in comfort was terrible. The "infrared 23" color was just a little bit too off. For me the 2019 pair's proprietary durabuck is superior comfort wise, the step in comfort is way better, and the true "infrared" color is much better. Also no mention of tongue heights. The 2019 has the highest tongue height since the OG, which is a really great feature for those of us who really love this model. Nice work, but I feel like you kind of disregarded what makes this retro so much better than the 2014. Honestly, I think for those of us who love the infrared 6, this model is as superior to the 2014 as the 2018 "concords" were to the 2011s.
An individual who doesn’t care much about those details are not going to be in the purist mentality when discussing tongue height. They care more about the color, the upper, size and Nike Air logo on back. Nike uses the same mold as the 2014 as based off the style number on the box. For a video that is nearly 30 mins long, I’m probably not going to hold retention of the regular, everyday sneakerhead so I did my best to appease both sides of the spectrum. To me, the 2014 isn’t much different than the 2019 as my opinions stated in the video. I’m not saying don’t buy the 2019. People are free to do whatever they want but for a kid that doesn’t care much about the details like you do, then they can save their money. Thanks for watching.
Best side by side comparison of this truly Iconic shoe👌🏽I had the originals back in High School and wore them till my sock’s we’re starting to show through the footbed👀😂💯👌🏽🙏🏽
Great review. I always felt the regular 2010 release that was Black/Varsity 384664 061 (not the defining moments ones) red was closer to the original color red. They stand out to me when you have all the retro's out at once.
Back in 91..my friend and myself had the 2 different tongues. I had the version without the fabric, his started to fray. My 2000 pair is still looking good, but the shape is different and the toebox is starting to crack unfortunately. Waiting on the 2019 pair......I got to have all my Infrared 6s with the Nike on the back
Wish the 2000 or the DMP 6 heal could’ve been duplicated at least. I had the 2000 and I loved that feature. They made a 2016 Metallic 5 sample that had contrast similar to the 1990. They can do it. Some of the 2019 pairs do have the contrast though. It varies. One of my shoes kinda have it.
Dope vid bro. My very 1st pair of J's were the maroon & white back in 91' and I couldn't wait to wear them. I now can't wait to get my pair of these next week. Looks like they did a good job on the color.
Definitely prefer the fonts of the OG pairs. The good thing about the 2019 infrared colorway is that your not going to see the crappy font kinda like the Maroon 6's. The crappy embroidering of the nike air logos on the retros were a bummer
this video made me appreciate the varsity reds even more... 🤔 ...i was thinking of doubling up on the 2019s (something i rarely do) but, i might do so with the varsity reds 😕 🤔.... . ... .. .
I love the way durabuck looked and feels but your right it doesn't last but the layers of the durabuck are accentuated by the grayish lines from the cuts and it gave the shoes an awesome look. The Nike Air Flight Lite II mid's and the first Air Maestro from 1992. I'm hopeful Nike will someday retro both pairs!! What are your thoughts MJO?
If you've got a pair of the 2010 Varsity Reds, you should make a video comparing them as well... I know they're not Infrareds, but man, those were pure fire and the quality was just excellent... Best pair of 6's ever in my opinion... Great vid by the way...
Sadly the font on the heel pretty much broke it for me. I'm passing on these and hopefully they can better this next round. Thank you for the comparison!
Had the 2014 and now the 2019 and I will say al around the 2014 feels cheaper quality wise than the 2019. TTS if anyone is interested in copping. 2014 pair felt very snug TTS and 2019 feel like there is a little more room but still would go TTS all day. Favorite 6 ever still. Great video excellent analysis
ive heard people say that varsity red in 2010 was closest to OG.. But remember my old ones pretty well..i mowed so many lawns to get them. I think these 2019s are closer.. like a vibrant fararri red.
Man I'd be so sweet if next year they do the Infrared 6s again with the shiny heel, the tongue height correct and the matieral wrapped around it. They need to use the nubcck type of durabuck tho still not leather 😂 I mean leather could be cool too if they make them like the 28 days of flight 6 sample
JB put the white film mixed with the glue to hide the imperfections on the midsole and make it look more of a solid piece instead of looking see through
The one thing not many shoe tubers dont talk about is the ankle pods. My first pair of Air Jordan's were the maroon 6's from 1991 and where the ankle pods are located on the original the leather is layered. Meaning the pods sit within another layer of leather with the stitching around it. The retros have just a simple stitching around the pod giving it a layered appearance when it's not. It makes no difference to me but it's definitely one thing that isn't the same
Got me a pair finally and I should of went down a half size. They do run big. It was like a 50/50 from what people were saying.I'll just get some insoles to make up the space
The original 1991 infrared was the true Infrared color. The infrared color looks like a fusion of orange and red. The 2000’s deep infrared was a little darker then the 1991’s even though it’s brighter then the 2010, 2014 and 2019. The 1991’s are the best Ever.
Now I’m Just Waiting On OG VI Black Infrareds To Get Over Here In Soon I Mean 2019 Is Not Bad Shoe But I Just Like The Shape And Quality Of The Shoe Of 1991 Release With OG Box And Flight Club Card
Idk if I'm trippin but on the OGs it looks like the whole back panel near the ankle looks like its actual leather and the front and side looks suede or durabuck.
I love the fatter front to. And I love your videos. You go all in. It makes these other videos people put up look stupid lol. You go bro!!! 🙌💯 God bless!!
