A Review of Invasio Barbarorum Ruina Romae (Rome Total War Mod Review) 

I really appreciated this review. The IB series sadly flies under the radar, especially as more people move to the newer games. That said, there are always those of us who keep coming back, and hopefully some who are discovering them for the first time. Each IB title offers such a polished and authentic classical experience--truly a labour of love on the part of the modding team. Keep up the good work and I'll watch your channel for future reviews!

Hi, I discorved your work via the TW Reddit and I'm really happy to see some spotlight on almost-unknown mods. The community have always done an incredible work with the TW games and your videos give me the opportunity to see mods in action that I'll never have time to play. So please continue this good work ! And the historical focus is also very appreciable ;)

I was just playing this mod as Sassanids. Destroyed Kushans and started my endless struggle with the hordes. I was having so much fun with whole diversity of units and with general features of the mod. But i started to having crashes so I can really continue. Nevertheless great content! This channel surely deserves more attention. I will sub.

I've played Invasio Barbarorum: Flagellum Dei for many years, because late antiquity is my favorite historical era. I particularly like this mod because the world depicted in 410 is interesting in many ways due to the complicated political situation that took place back then (political chaos in the Western Roman Empire, Visigoths at the outskirts of Rome etc.). In Flagellim Dei I especially liked playing the Imperium Constantini faction because it was quite challenging and to me personally Constantine III always seemed to be more sympathetic as a historical figure and more competent as augustus of the Western Empire than the useless Honorius :) I also loved playing as Persia because of the beautiful units they had (the creators obviously based them on great Osprey publications). I definitely give a try Ruina Romae, which, although it represents the same era, introduces some changes, for example in terms of existing factions. I think that the creators did right thing removing the Romano-Britons and the Pictii, and replacing them with Suebii and Alans, who have historically been of greater importance and who were definitely missed in Flagellum Dei. The only faction that I missed a bit in Flagellum Dei and which, from what I see, is also not present in Ruina Romae is Imperium Maximi (or Hispano-Romans), that is the faction of Maximus of Hispania, an usurper who in 409 rebelled against Constantine III. I think that such a faction, along with the Gallo-Romans (or the Imperium Constantini) would add more flavor to the struggle for power over the Western Roman Empire.

The gallo-roman faction is a fictive one, there was the gallic empire during the third century and the domain of soisson in late 5th century, with Aegidius as its Dux Romanorum. By 410 AD, there was no independent gaul/gallo-roman state.

I haven't played the mod so far, but what is it that there are *horde* armies for settled factions? How does it work, that you can be settled and horde at the same time?

What's the deal with all those starting full stacks? It really turns me off.

I've installed this mod. It always crashes to desktop, no error message, whenever it's the rebels turn, the first turn, no matter which faction. I'm really disappointed

Thanks. I suppose Roma Surrectum has spoiled me because seeing any mod with vanilla map and music hurts. Also, I tried to play as ERE and there was one unit with [PLACEHOLDER TEXT] all over it.

Where do I go to download this? Whenever I search for it, I just keep finding Invasio Barbarorum Flagelum Dei. Is that it?

what I don't like is the exaggerated defense of the units, the Sasanian bodyguards have more than 50 defense and of that 30 are armor

How about AI? I remember playing a while ago one popular Rome mode (can't remember the name) maybe it was Europa Barbarorum, Map was great, units unique and well done, Elephants unkillable xD but most of the battles where me rushing with a straight line on an enemy and them routing soon, it was kind of bland...

How to install it? I really want it badly.

I have non-steam version and I did not understand how can I use this mod, I mean how can I change the path ?

I began playing the mod, and was baffled to see that the whole of the British isles are covered in trees, does anyone know why this is? I must say I was a little disappointed as the rest of it is fine.

Idk if anyone will see this comment but i kinda want to play this mod but the problem is that i couldn't find any tutorial on how to do it or where to download it,so...yeah if you guys found any video i hope you share with me the link, even some tips will be help.

I don't like the army spam of the IB mods, though it's not as bad as the Julian one. I get that we want to represent all those army units but it's just an unwieldy mess.

Not sure if this is better than barbarian invasion due to script problem and Huns and Goths just frozen. Also, Eastern Roman Empire too overpowered in this game moreso than in BI. Alemanni also weird faction.

Is there a reason why the mod author was really adamant about keeping you from Britain? Is he British?
