My dad was a truckdriver for 30 years, but he died on the job back in 2014 in a crash. Watching this reminds me of the days where i used to ride along with him. Be carefull out there brother!
I work at Home Depot unloading the trucks of 2500+ boxes and loads of pallets and sometimes get two trucks a night, it’s frustrating when you’re done with the 1st truck late at night and waiting on the 2nd truck because they’re late and you wanna go home and sleep before waking up early to go to college . What you said about no load being more important than yourself, made me realize the truck drivers also may be tired and need a quick nap so they get the load to Home Depot safely and that’s why they’re late. Made me change my perspective on how I see the drivers.
I'm a truck driver who eats healthy while OTR. It's not as hard as most people make it. You can either cook your own food, stay out of the fast food areas. I cook in an instantpot while driving, it makes the truck smell good and the food is ready when I finish driving. Dishes can be done when you shower or carry gallons of water under your bunk. As you aren't out for months at a time, you can meal prep healthy meals, freeze them, and then nuke em when it's time to eat. Walmart has a great selection of meal prep containers and rice in pouches. Sam's has bags of pre-cooked chicken breasts and steamable veggies. 2 breasts, 1 bag of rice & 1 bag of veggies per container. Also, don't try to park right next to the truckstop, park further away, and walk. I walk a minimum of 4 miles per day while out here driving and delivering.
Never let someone take your phone. If they genuinely seem like they need to call someone, keep the phone in your hand, you dial the number, & put the call on speaker
true story : my dad let a guy borrow his phone only to use it for a call to sh00t somebody n k1ll them . my dad had the fbi at his door n never seen his phone again .. this was like late 90s .. LA was crazy
Yea man I’m with you n taking care of our health especially us truck drivers ! I got unhealthy real quick after driving for 1 year of driving because all I was eating was fast food ! This week I been eating super clean and healthy and after just 4-5 days I feel a lot of energy again ! Just wait till 4 months go by I’m going to feel super amazing! Eat healthy y’all it’s worth it ! Big time !! Also keep Jesus Christ first in all things ✝️
Amen and amen!!! Something I tell truckers, and have heard Alex tell us; is too work out/move/stretch/calisthenics while you wait to be loaded/unloaded. How have you been doing on your health journey/diet? (You don’t have to answer, just think and reflect
Ngl man you and your videos are the reason I pulled the trigger on getting my CDL and now I’m in my cab in some random Love’s parking lot in middle America eating a 20 piece nugget 😂 god speed my boy
Hey Alex just an idea maybe you and your wife should do meal prep 2 Reasons it could possibly save you some money because eating out and get expensive And give you more healthier options to eat so you can stay true to your healthy lifestyle you're trying to pursue Just an idea 💡 Blessings tocayo
Your family is so supportive man his uncle ask him you have been able to do content huh 😂😂 all luv man keep doing your thing Nvr change up my older a trucker he all over the USA man 👍🏾👍🏾
Health is wealth it is really the only thing that truly matters there’s people in hospital beds wishing they were in your shoes… take care of yourself and your body ❤
Love the vids Alex. I'm curious, when backing up is it all eye-balling how close are to the dock's door? Why hasn't a backup sensor (or camera) been used for trucks? Cars have them, seems like it would be even more useful for trucks.
Be safe out there Alex, there's a lot of people that'll rob you and hurt you in any way, thank god your safe I'll pray that it'll never happen to you again
You should take your son at night, my dad use to take me and I have many good memories trust me he would love it it’s a different experience then at day
Meal prep bro. That food is convenient and easy and its fine from time to time but itll catch up to you if you do it all the time. You'll be fine in your 20s but things start changing after that. Pay attention to the contents now so you don't have to later.
Hey Alex, this is my new id and I see you got your son. I hope he gets the trucking bug and takes after his dad! Maybe one day he'll have you in his trucking videos? I wish you both a great trip keep safe👍
I had a similar situation with a girl in Springfield, Mass a long time ago. Looked super drunk, lost, needed to use a phone. Called PD to come help her but who knows if they found her.
I listen to true scary stories, don't ever give your phone to someone instead offer to make the call for them. It's a trap, which you did learn. Please always follow your gut and just offer to do the call.
Yea man it’s so hard to stay healthy on the road. I was one of those drivers who didn’t take care of themselves and ended up with type 2 diabetes lead by a stroke. It is so important to do what you can to stay healthy.
I love your videos my dad was a truck drive for alout of years I used to work with him pull up trailer drive to company but he has stroke so he Brealy can move he’s doing better tho ❤
Hey G, love your vids! Keep it up! As a fellow Californian (and as someone whos about to enter the trucking industry), ive got three questions for you; 1A) What/Where are some of the better truck-stops & rest-areas in Cali? 1B) What/Where are some of the worst truck-stops/Rest-Areas in Cali? 2(3?) What are the sketchiest cities/areas to deliver-to/pickup-from?
8:51 I ALWAYS have offered to call the cops in situations like that. If they’re serious, they’ll appreciate the gesture. If they’re trying to scam you, they’re going to bounce.
Facts my phone got stolen by a so called “ friend “ ARTIZ RAMON GIBSON ADEYINKA AND CARS GOT STOLEN BY THIS SAME DUDE NOTHING HAPPEN YET South Carolina Columbia SC
i got a crazy story also , one time i stopped at a am pm to grab a quick bite and after i parked my truck i was walking and this fat white guy asked if i could get in his trailer and push a pallet for him to the tail of the trailer and my dumbass fell for it climbed in his trailer and pushed a small pallet from the nose to the tail of the trailer , when i got to half of the trailer i instantly thought damn what if he just shuts the doors on me and locks me inside 😬😬i was so stupid to fall for something like that , but the guy ended up giving me 50 bucks just to do that due to his weight and it was an elderly man , but hey you never know .. this world is filled with crazy ass people ..Stay Safe out there guys
. Two weeks ago I nearly got sucked up by a tornado in Tennesse, but I was in my car not my truck. I was on my way to buy the 2016 Kenworth T680 in the picture. I wanted a manual and all I had was automatics, meet my 10-speed manual! I had to go all the way to Texas to get it. My 1968 Dodge Charger is awaiting repairs to body. It almost got rolled. In 10 days I am going for my DOT/CDL physical last week my blood pressure was high, hopefully it's gone down or it's retirement? After having a CDL for 37 years, I just want 2 1/2 more years then retire on my terms!
