Don't let the score fool you. This game was not close. We had some of our worst arms out there today and CRUSHED a bad team. Gotta give it to Bello as much as he's rough to watch. Nice work with the Ks.
Bello is hard to watch !! He did well on K’s but gives up too much to often , I don’t know what it is . If he is trying to hard to be slick and ends up getting sloppy.. ? great team win .! Now they’re 10 games over 500 .. if they can sweep the A’s I’ll be pumped !!!
@@RodriguesPaul360 Agreed, Bello gives up too much hard contact for a ground ball/contact pitcher and then mentally collapses at the first sign of adversity. I do still think some potential exists there, but by now we should have seen SOME sort of improvement. Needs to get his fastball and change working well
@@173jaSon371his changeup was looking a bit better better, but 100 pitches into the fifth was rough. If the team is serious about playing ball in the postseason they gotta find a way to fix him (and most of the pitching staff tbf) up. Giving him a longer stretch between starts worked down in miami, but that’s not long term feasible if he’s supposed to be in a regular starter. Maybe move him towards long relief with occasional starts based on the rest of the rotation? Idk, tough situation. We’re not exactly spoiled for choice with starters.
@@diegobrandomtg Agreed, some of them were sinking right into the dirt and inducing whiffs. Looking at his savant page, his sliders vertical break is wayy down in particular, over 6 inches less and 2 less on the sinker as well. I think he's too predictable with just 3 pitches(sinker, change, slider, only 18 4sm fastballs all of 2024) and needs to pepper in that 97+mph more often. The sinker has over a .500 slg against this season because guys can sit on it, especially when 1 or 2 of those 3 pitches aren't moving as well in certain games. Small sample, but his 4 seamer has an xBA of .230 and xSLG of .336. His hard hit% on them is 33.3%, compared to 51.7% on the sinker, which he throws over 40% of the time. Im just some idiot on baseballsavant for 10 min though haha
Henry is not a billionaire by mistake like draft dodger Donald. He will add to the team and the people that hate him will say it is not enough. With the wild cards their simply are not many sellers with anyone worth giving up your top draft picks for to win 4 more games when you are already a wild card team.
Bello is not an ace he needs to pitch better luckily the bats went off today and got the win we need another right haneded power bat and a starting pitcher if the sox want to seriously contend
Bello is AA at best and should be moved with fruity boy Casas if possible, along with half of that bp. These clowns on the hill tonight are nowhere near major league level.
@@JeepTJWheelin Lmao WHAT? Casas is going to be a corner stone on this team for YEARS. Oh, but let's get rid of him because some loser named JeepTJWheelin doesn't like his personality.....the only clown is yourself. Casas since start of May 2023: 28th in BB% out of 567 hitters. ISO- 23rd of 567 wRC+ - 23rd of 567 OPS- 14th of 567
If ownership doesn't invest in this team before the deadline they are pretty much telling their players it doesn't matter how well you play through the all star break, we don't believe in you enough to invest to make the team better for the stretch run.
So who should they get and a what price? Management cannot magically conjure up players to be had at reasonable prices. When I was voting on the allstars I notice there were a lot of sub par players that are actually starting for teams. Good First Baseman seem to be hard to come by for example. With the new playoff format there are fewer sellers at the deadline making the pickings even slimmer. The Red Sox finally got their minor league system back in order I don't want them to trash it for a single shot this year.
@@LittleRiverBees-or6qp There is no reason why they couldn't get someone like Evoldi from Texas to come back for the stretch run for a B or C tier prospect. A guy like that. Def need starting pitching help though. And don't need to give up an upper echelon prospect to do so.
Nice win but Bello has to keep that game under control and bullpen made it close keeping in your starters longer than usual especially Devers nursing a sore shoulder.
You all want management to do "Something" So who "exactly" do you think they can actually get at a reasonable price. I'm sure the silence will be deafening.
Love this team! But I never understood the Bello hype. This guy is so inconsistent. Lots of strikeouts against a bad team. Also, the “problem” with the Sox playing so well is that it kind of proves Henry’s point.
Only Carl Yastrzemski and Ted Williams could really play that wall well, Reggie Smith did it well and of course Fred Lynn. But you got to practice to play that wall correctly. Yaz used to take a hundred popups of that wall in practice.
Fred Lynn played centerfield, not left. Jim Rice was not a good fielder initially but got better over time and learned to play the wall really well. More recently, Andrew Benintendi played it well.
If we buy at the deadline, which we 100% should, we could improve our pitching so they don't get as worn out and improve any holes of our offense, which in this game didn't look like there was any holes
I’d love to see everyone who sits behind the plate the rest of the season wearing SELL..to an owner who still gives a crap.John Henry is a disgrace and we should have known this was coming after what he did to the Marlins.
that as an A’s fan wearing a sell shirt fans in Oakland wear those shirts all the time it wasn’t a red sox fan but i do agree with you they do need to sell the team
Mixed results from Bello, but I believe he's on the right path. Its frustrating to strike out 11 and allow 5 runs. He'll get there. Bad defense in the first inning on the read and backup in center. They need to do better if they want to win games. also, i dunno who that oakland play-by-play woman is, but nobody was chirping any a's players in rf. I was there. nobody was chirping anyone. get a freaking clue, lady.
So then you're even dumber than this TJwheelin guy below I guess? Casas since start of May 2023: 28th in BB% out of 567 hitters. ISO- 23rd of 567 wRC+ - 23rd of 567 OPS- 14th of 567
So why do the announcers refer to hits as "knocks." They don't do it occasionally for color but seem to use it consistently. Sort of like, in Mean Girls, with the girl who was trying to make "fetch" cool.
Female announcer for the As is pitiful. Ferguson poured gasoline on the fire. Butler a jackass. Showboating a 3 run homer and still behind 6 runs. Fitting that he made the last out of the game.
@@aidanmichelson6735 OB is the king of the jinx. I’d argue that in at least half of our losses this year, OB brings in an announcer jinx of some kind whether it be about our pitcher, their hitters, the weather, or some other random statement that could end badly for us. He also seems completely oblivious to this. If you listen to the commentary, sometimes the color commentator will audibly wince at one of these instances. Everyone in Boston hates jinxes, OB needs to go,
Bello needs to be moved at the deadline. They gave this AA clown a contract but not Mookie or Xander. Of course, Mookie was a poorly disguised salary dump! This team was up 11-2 and almost lost to the worst team/franchise in the league. Their bp is mostly AA trash! And Dominick Smith runs like he's already at an old timers game from 2050. And please get rid of this CA woman doing play by play, I thought I was watching high school game highlights.
