During one investigation, I was with a group but exploring by myself. I spent a lot of time in the very back room of the juvenile section, to the right of where the shower is. Using just an EMF meter, I asked questions and had asked the spirit or spirits to respond by lighting the lights up on it. And every time it would light up to at least the orange light. The hair on my arms was standing on end and I could sense something behind me when I sat on the bottom bunk. When I walked out of juvenile section and back into the hallway, a woman who was sitting in a chair nearby said that when I asked “Is there a child here?”, she heard a child’s voice say “mama”. I did not hear that though. During another investigation, I used the voice recorder on my phone. I did not experience anything in person that night. But listening to the recordings later, I found a lot of EVPs, most caught in the juvenile cells and the infirmary. We used a spirit box while in the infirmary. We asked if the spirit in there was a doctor or a nurse and clear as day the spirit box says “I’m a doctor”. While asking questions without the spirit box on, there is a voice that says “I don’t want to” (in response to us asking if it could light up the EMF) and a drawn out,whispery “doctor” when we were again asking about who was in there. In the juvenile cells, we caught a faint voice saying “mama” and “yes” when we asked if the spirit was a boy.

Colin, I really enjoy that you go to locations that are in the Midwest. As someone who grew up in Minnesota and currently lives in Lincoln, Nebraska I feel like more often then not the Midwest gets overlooked with haunted locations or historical landmarks but, I enjoy your intentionality to find those locations. I'm from Council Bluffs, when I was young they had set the jail up as a haunted house during Halloween. It's an experience I'll never forget, I was so scared one of the people dressed up to scare actually took his mask off to try and show me it wasn't real. The building definitely has a very heavy feeling.
