►About the Game -
A normal every day university student is working at the local VHS Store trying to make some extra bucks to support him and his family. Until one, seemingly boring, night made a quick turn to a nightmare when he found an abandoned tape outside the shop. Out of curiosity he decided to play it and see what's inside.
His life was never the same.
VHS Slaughter is a game attempting to recreate the atmosphere of VHS 80's films and classic PS1 horror games.
KEY FEATURES:

So, the screaming man sound clip at 17:25 is actually literally the exact audio ripped from an old halloween scary-sounds casette/CD that was sold widely here in the US. My mother used to play it in our van during the entire damn month of October every damn year growing up, and that ridiculous man's cries never leave you. Nostalgia...

I’m surprised they had such short shifts over so many nights. Could have stretched it out by putting videos away, might need to rewind them first, stock the popcorn shelf, microwave dinner. I got so distracted by how short the shifts were. Maybe even call the boss to report the weird tapes and he says he’ll be right over, but they’ve disappeared by then

Didn't Chilla's Closing Shift already do the "why is your coworker doing repairs on the roof?" shock leading to discovering the killer was living at the store? That's an incredibly specific turn that seems to have been lifted, like, almost beat for beat

Awwww, you gotta do both endings! You are my favorite horror streamer and I know its a lot of work but throw in the other ending on games with only two, I understand games with 5+ but I think that would be awesome.

I just want to thank you, Chris, for this happy moment. Yesterday was tough as I had to have my blue heeler sweetheart put down after her bout with seizures and a stroke. For 16 years she was a constant bundle of love and joy for our family. I came home today after work ready to greet her and love on her... only to see an empty spot where she used to wait for me. I cried and opened my phone to let me wife know how much I miss her. Then I opened RU-vid to see if I can distract my mind for a bit and see that you've uploaded a video. This is my happy moment. Thank you for your funny, engaging, and all-around consistently great videos. They mean a lot to many of us - even when we're heartbroken. Cheers!

I liked the unnerving atmosphere throughout, but I was hoping for some kind of payoff at the end, which never happened. Decent game nonetheless.

I had a hunch but as soon as the note said "hey its me your co-worker. I left town." yeah that wasn't the co-worker. reminds me of Hostel. The two guys get a text from their foreign friend that just says "I go home now". and a pic sent of a close up of his head. which then the next scene shows it had been cut off. Also the screams on those video tapes are absolutely terrifying and horrific.

I really enjoyed this actually! Great atmosphere, and the retro graphics were a perfect fit for the story. I agree with you about the ending though, I think it would have ended on a higher note had it gone off with a bang unexpectedly. Thanks a lot Chris!!

I feel like this should've taken place over one or two nightshifts, it doesn't really make sense that you work for 10 minutes and go home. Otherwise, this is pretty alright. Just way too much time wasted just going home and going to work again.

I can’t make up my mind about this one - it had, in my opinion, a very slow start but then I began to see the point of watching it. It's ok to dislike some aspects. I disliked the slow start too, and many of that in other stories. Criticizing the game isn't criticizing the yt-r. Chris didn't make the game and he criticizes games too sometimes.

I don't know why, I take comfort in the gas station/convenience store/grocery store horror games. They're all similar but I always think of these as cozy games. I guess that's kind of fucked up when cozy is murder but whatever I'M NOT WEIRD. Also the loud car jump scare hit home. That is the country road outside my house. Dillholes ripping down the road in their junker screaming up a storm.

The 'snuff films' were somewhat unsettling, looney-tunes esque SFX aside. It's a free game so I'm hesitant to speak too harshly, but, uh, I think this little number would have been a much better experience with a 15-20 minute play time, maximum. 'Taking the bus to work' simulator could be a cool horror game concept, but not implemented like this. Thanks for the playthrough, though, Chris.

The writing in this was so stupid. The cops have more things to worry about than a serial killer who's already murdered the mayor and a cop? And a drug dealer who lives in the middle of the woods? This was so idiotic it's ridiculous. The writing, the killer's 'vigilante' motive, all so juvenile, this is just embarrassingly bad.

i feel like i've seen this game before... a mixture of 616 games (i've seen the exact layout of that store in one of 616's games, i think) and that one chilla's art games where you play as a barista. doesn't bring anything new whatsoever.
