If the growth rate of your Magnolia is less than the expected rate in your area, them maybe you should check out the roots, they may have problems you need to take care of.

Yeah I like this kind of loose gardening to. This is what I think I have gong in my garden. Too many gardens not enough time to weed. I just started posting videos of my garden in Virginia. I'm not sure where she is. Nice hills tho that's for sure.

I used to spend every spring, summer and fall in my gardens and it made me so happy! I’m 70 now and my arthritis has caused me to retire from spending so much time in nature. But I can truly say....it brought me great contentment and peace and I treasure the memories!!!

@cherylanderson3340
@cherylanderson3340 4 года назад
Hi Myrna. I'm 73 & have arthritis too, so I know what you mean. I have found some nutrients that really help me. For years I took OTC pain meds, every 3 or 4 hours, until I learned that they can do some damage to our organs, so did some research. Also, I'd met someone who'd recommended taking some form of Chondroitin, which I took with reasonable improvement for a few years, which you might get help from. Then eventually, I settled on a very good combination for myself - which anyone could take, even without arthritis, to help with aches & inflammation, & even just to reduce stress. It's like a miracle combination, really. Now I only rarely take OTC meds, like if I've overdone things & need something for an aching back or a pain in my once badly wrenched shoulder, or the like. What I have found helped me with very painful finger joints - which used to become inflamed, red, hot to the touch, & swollen. Pain pills can only help for a few hours. MSM helps with reducing inflammation & much more. It's good to take for anyone, to improve the body's ability to cope with life's stresses - physical & emotional. I also take HA - Hyaluronic Acid to help actually heal & rejuvenate the disks. I take a good multi, almost daily, & MSM & HA together, usually every few days, but at 1st I'd recommend taking daily so they can help long enough to begin to heal / rebuild your joint tissues. If I go about 2 weeks without them, my finger joints start hurting again, reminding me I have arthritis in a few finger joints. Imagine...after being on OTC meds for years, which would wear off after a few hours, & it didn't heal the source of the pain at all. Now I go for days without pain, even if I forget to take them, but it's probably better to be more consistent, for best results. Maybe these could help you too. It freed me from years of chronic pain & limitation. If you try these, buy good brands to insure good quality. Do your research & see what you think. I've never had any negative side effects. I've seen MSM recommended if you've had a trauma, a bad argument, lost a loved one or a job, had a heart attack or surgery, a car accident , etc, as it helps protect us from the stress that comes with life events. They both help heal in their own ways. HA actually helps to rehydrate the disks between the joints so they are plumped up as they should be to help prevent that bone on bone pain when we do not keep ourselves hydrated & as we age. I do still eat salt which can dehydrate but only rarely have alcohol. I'm more of a tea & coffee drinker. I guess coffee can be dehydrating too, especially if instant, but I don't drink it often, & make perked when I do. I'd avoid artificial sweeteners. Too much sugar, & especially over processed white flour often are a cause of inflammation, so look at making changes in your diet if that seems appropriate. Not being in pain all the time is like being given your life back! Hope this helps. "Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is also called dimethyl sulfone, DMSO2, methyl sulfone, and many other names. MSM is an organic sulfur found in fruits, vegetables, grains, and milk as well as the urine of animals. It is an oxidation product of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and a source of sulfur for producing the amino acids methionine and cysteine. MSM is a water soluble white, odorless, crystalline compound that contains 34% elemental sulfur. Methylsulfonylmethane reduces pain, inflammation, and allergic reactions. It also has wound healing, dermatologic, and exercise performance increasing effects." www.medicinenet.com/methylsulfonylmethane_msm-oral/article.htm#what_are_the_uses_for_msm_herbal_supplements HA is Hyaluronic Acid. It helps heal joints, & anything else in your body. It is now being used as an ingredient in rejuvenation creams, & in surgeries too. A friend told me a friend of hers who was about to have a knee surgery had been given HA injections directly into her knee joint by her Dr. to help prepare for the surgery. You can get more detailed info on HA here: www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-1062/hyaluronic-acid

Cheryl Anderson I read your comment to Myrna and I to have arthritis and love to garden. I appreciate you taking the time to deliver such an informative answer to Myrna’s pain. I will do the research and check this out for myself as well. Anything to help with pain and not take OTC meds. My husband and I did the Keto foods for a couple of years and completely removed sugar and breads (heavy Carbs) from our diet and it was amazing how good I felt, no joint pain or stiffness after getting all that sugar out of my system. But I have allowed to let sugar creep back into my diet. You know additions to sugar is a hard habit to break. But I have promised myself that I will break the habit and return to health eating again.

I too have a beautiful garden in Somerset, Uk and during lockdown it has been our sanctuary. We’ve had a long hot summer too with very little rain and our summers have been like this now with climate change so I’m having to adjust my planting to suit these conditions.

It's a wonder to me how you have managed to turn a place that's considered High Desert into this lush jungle bursting with life and color and beauty everywhere. And a stream...and now a pond! Wow! Certainly not what I would have dreamed possible in a place that's crazy cold in winter, crazy hot in summer and super dry as well. (I'm glad you have a good well!) You all must have incredible imaginations to be able to envision what things will look like after the changes are put into place as well as an incredibly good work ethic to get 'er done! What a lovely tour...thoroughly enjoyable! Well presented, good camera work and editing, and your gardens are absolutely stunning. Thank you. Such a pleasure!

Thank you, Shaye. I love the garden tours. Trying to create my own after years of dreaming. At 65 I sometimes think I’ll throw in the towel, but some dreams are hard to let go of. The other day was one of those days and by the end of the day when it cooled down I was planning again. 😄 Harvey said just take it one area at a time, but I want it all NOW. I guess that’s where the patience comes in 🥴 I like the softer color pallets as well. However, when we go to the nursery it seems like Harvey picks out the warmer colors. I can’t tell him No because he rarely says anything, so, I will plant and be happy because it pleases him and pulls in the bees, hummingbirds and butterflies. I figure it’s okay for him to add his little tweak here and there to the painting. After all, he did build me that fabtabulous greenhouse and put in timed tube irrigation. Thank you for the inspiration. 😃

My mom and I would make ponds I managed 3 it was fun. I definitely love a purposeful garden to strol through, that's my goal. What a blessing. I also hate the idea of mowing and acre of yard, I'd much rather make it useful and be an environment for bees, butterflies ect and for berries and fruit. I want a plum tree for my hubby. What a beautiful garden, you remind me of myself when I was young with young children in Australia, I loved my garden. Now I am gardening in California and we have the hot summers and the cold winters and no rain. Thank you for sharing your life with us. I’m a new subscriber.

Your garden is so beautiful this year! It’s really maturing and becoming that quintessential cottage garden. Monty would be proud!

What a beautiful tour💕 thank you so much . I love the colors..the sweet glimpses of your littles..the entryway and courtyard with that beautiful blue door. I have enjoyed my small but beautiful little garden we have this year due to you and the Parisienne farm girl . Thank you. Nancy

I love the way you garden. I’m taking notes of your information about certain plants you like self-seed. My garden is a work in progress that got delayed because of an injury, but I’m up and about now desperately wanting to visit the nurseries. Thank you for sharing your sweet and beautiful garden. I like that you have a chandelier in your greenhouse.😊 I don't think I would ever have thought to do that, but I'm sure it really makes it nice to work in there in the evenings!

This is a great guide. It's nice to learn about how you're developing the land into a garden. We're going to start sending our customers to this video so they can learn more about what it takes to develop their own land.
