RIP to the Hitachi Corded Drill! 😭 let us know if you have any corded drill recommendations!! 👊🏼 *Edit* - Also I changed the Thumbnail Gang.. It was driving me crazy all day, I knew it wasn't the best I could do... I wonder where I get that from 🤔🤔🤔
Ah the memories. I too burnt up a drill mixing thin set. Something about tasks like that put a strain on drills. I replaced the ruined one with a corded Dewalt and it mixed the thin set with ease and is still alive and kicking.
Tile tip from an old woman: Grab a handful of grout powder and keep it in a little sandwich bag. There is ALWAYS that one bubble in the grout line. Use your "spare" grout and keep yourself from buying $20 of another bag. Plus, there's no color variation either.
I worked with an old timer who believed in doing things right the first time. Watching these folks work reminds me of his work ethic! Great channel and keep up the great work!!!
You guys put out stellar videos loaded with very valuable content, thank you! I have been doing remodels for 35 years (tile for 25) and I can say that you guys are true craftsman. A lot guys gloss over the details in their videos of how to accomplish specific aspects of the job. IT'S THE DETAILS that make or break the whole job and you share them, much appreciated! Thanks again, you guys do Xcellent work!!!!
Definitely the content I'm here for. Really diggin' the edits and background tunes but MOSTLY the EXCELLENT teamwork between talent and camera-operator... Y'all could take a chunk out of Matt Reslinger's audience and business model by pairing up a competent apprentice who doubles as camera/editor with contractors who're ALWAYS the unsung heroes on a successful remodel of ANY kind!
Dont you just love it when one screw, nut, bolt etc sux up a bunch of you time. Im in HVAC/R but i am loving all the trades. Came into the game late when i found out the college route aint for me. Tradesman got it made. We are living the dream. Whoever knew we were so essential.🤣 You guys have great videos and production. Just subscribed.
Glad you included putting mortar under the tub, some folks dismiss this step but it is very important and will eliminate call backs. Keep up the great team work.
Stud Pack has 47K subs, which is a great effort. This channel hits so many levels. From the great content to a father and son working as a team. Lots of tips and tricks, I am learning lots. You deserve to have 500K subs. Keep moving forward and you will reach that audience. Greatness is not built in a day!
One tip from a plumber, always solder from bottom to top. It’s easier and faster because heat rises. This doesn’t make that much difference on a coupling but the less time with torch on the pipe the less heat goes up into the faucet.
That bucket vacuum attachment is SOO COOL!!! I had no idea they made those and the idea of mixing grout or thinset indoors has always repulsed me because of all the dust it makes!! Stud Pack are true PROS!
It is called a whale tail. You can also make one from a drywall mud bucket lid cut in 1/3 popped on the bucket top and a hole cut for your shop vac hose to drop in while you mix. Either way def smart to have the dust extraction for mess and health reasons.
Might consider. We mounted our fixtures off tub for easy plumbing access just remove the tub no need to disconnect plumbing fixtures we install access door or silicone mounted removable tile for access. Great good looking work.
I have no plans of future remodels/bathroom work/ tile work but I watch your channel constantly. I absolutely love your workmanship, down to earth attitude, willingness to teach but most of all, your video and camera work. You guys have what it takes. Keep it up!!!
someday some new contractor will come in to remodel this bathroom and he'll go through all the motions of putting his new creation together...and realize how good of a job you guys did on this one...you give "you do good work"a higher standard...
I read some of the comments before I made a comment. Seems like everyone has an opinion on how they would have done things. You did it your way and that's what works. I do lots of renovation work and your work is top notch. I will be using some of your technics in my next bathroom renovation.
You do awesome work I learned a lot from you I have been in the construction field for 27 years I done everything from roofing to tile, framing, finishing work I have sprayed foam insulation, fire protection I have done a lot in construction field I can also learn new things keep the videos coming thanks Robert Jock
I love to see how much passion you have for doing everything properly it restores my faith in tradesman well done Jordan your so lucky to have such a great dad!! Love from the UK ❤️🤞👍
I have used several corded drills over the years and when I started bathrooms full time 2 years ago I got the Milwaukee m18 high torque drill mixer. Absolutely awesome. No cord mix where I want at the correct rpm all the time. Chuck goes into tool and handle can rotate to whatever position you desire. Mix everything from mud, thin set, compound , plaster, etc
Professional workmanship from the tiling to the plumbing and installation the bathtub correctly all the best keep safe from jim the plumber queanbeyan nsw Australia keep the videos coming.
To drill a predrilled hole bigger, you can put the 1" hole saw on with the 1 1/4" as a guide also. Buy a Turbo Torch, nothing better. Also use Christy's Red Hot PVC glue, clear glue can fail. Good video turned out beautiful!
That was an enormous amount of work from demo to rebuild, and you, sir, are a true artisan who takes pride in every step of your work, never a shortcut, and even willing to redo a job if it doesn't meet your high standards. Well done! It looks fantastic, and I am sure the owners are going to be very happy. I just hope that they don't choose a dark paint color. That master bath is quite small and even with the window, it is quite dark especially since they went with darker tiles. And I know this is late, but going back to one of the first videos, I would have definitely oriented the tub parallel to the wall and extended the shower as much as possible. That diagonal orientation wastes a lot of space in such a small master bath for a tub which is rarely used compared to the shower (you can tell from how new that tub looks) and is not even a whirlpool.
I like you guys a lot!!! Great work. I do a lot of home projects and it's nice to be educated by people who know what's up. Thank you guys. Now you are in my tool box.
Wow. What a change. And it’s not even done yet. Paul is obviously an humble craftsman....but my man was straight showing off on his grout scoop maneuver with the two trowels at the beginning! Hahahaha. Skillz! With a “Z” so you know it’s legit. Hahahaha. You guys are almost at 50K subs! I remember you guys at like 1K, and you’re videos just keep getting better. Thanks for teaching us DIY’ers.
Seeing the transformation of that bathroom just earned you another subscriber. Quality work, great explanations, and amazing work ethic. Definitely just raised the bar for my bathroom remodel!
I absolutely love this page, I learn so much from both of you working together. You do such amazing work, homeowners are so fortunate to have you do the work on their homes. The recent RU-vid award is most appropriate, to recognize Stud Pack! KUDOS!!! I agree with comments elsewhere, the video work (my background) the editing and background music is as amazing as the works you create... your brand is something to behold and truly be proud of... first class, through and through!
I love your content, because it helps me to have a better idea how to do DIY projects around my house . And just overall I love how positive you guys are, keep it up .
I reside in the UK, i have watched this project to this point and seriously enjoyed the way you have installed every element, i've been fitting my own shower back in my bathroom; having retiled the whole room floor to ceiling over the last year. Covid 19 caused some delays of course for materials at certain stages, as i believe you've also had your grout choice of Mapei is excellent have used that myself but the premixed version, is like spreading butter into the joints compared to what people generally use tile adhesive/grout, their not the same thing as you know. Tile grout is exactly that nice and soft and cleans up great!! I'd like to congratulate you and your son for your videos very well presented and i personally, have picked up quite a few things of benefit to finish my bathroom in due course. I'll watch the rest of the project but felt needed to type at this point and say so :)
Really enjoying your videos. Great camera quality, lighting and audio. Editing is great too with the cutscenes. You make remodeling a lot more fun to watch than This Old House or HGTV.
You guys are amazing. Especially the way you work together. I would have used vibration saw on those faucet stems with a metal blade. The other day I saw you shim a toilet and then caulk it. Have you ever tried grouting your toilets so that they will never rock? I've been doing that for years and if the toilet has to come out the grout can be knocked out with a putty knife in a hammer. I've learned many new tricks from you guys.
I always run clear silicone around the tub opening when setting the tub so if you get water wicking along the grout lines under the outside silicone tub seal there is a backup.
If you check your local flooring store that sells Schluter products, you can get L mold trims or Quadec trims and corners for tub decks, niches and side walls and a 1/2 inch Lmold for the transition between the Tile and the Hardwood, it finishes it off nice. For a darker tile that on the floor the A125AT would be nice.
If you can find Turbo Torch. It works on acetylene or propane and has different size tips and rounded guards that will clip on the tip to keep the flame away from areas that shouldn't get overheated or are flammable. You can also use water spray from a spray bottle on sensitive areas.
