A Snowy Tour of Bentonville Arkansas! It snowed most of this week, but I decided to ride around downtown and discover my new town, and seek out some fun riding in the process.
Kyle, it's great to see you riding and enjoying your new town! You were laughing so much! Bentonville looks very nice! We miss you but support you of course!!
haha small world! Good to know this winter was abnormal. I felt like it was pretty frequent when lots of people told me it rarely snowed here haha. Hopefully it's behind us now!
What a place to live! I better show up for a visit soon before you’re jacked like The Rock and my puny McAllister park legs and lungs can’t keep up haha.
It's pretty rad so far living here! Weather hasn't cooperated much, but in just the couple trail rides I have done...I can already feel myself getting more fit. Not a ton of elevation here, but certainly more consistent than SA
I'm planning on moving there the end of 2023. Maybe a trip early 2023. You should offer some type of paid service (advice/recommendations) for people moving there or just planning a mountain biking trip there. I'd pay for that! Congrats and good luck getting settled in. I look forward to future videos!
Thanks John! That's an interesting idea about helping people with advice for the area. I don't know it well enough yet, but something I could definitely consider in the future. Best of luck to you moving here! It's pretty awesome so far!
Thank you Christina! I'm thrilled to be here. I'm out on Slaughter Pen mostly cause it's close to home. If you see some weirdo setting up a camera off trail feel free to say hello!
Hey Kyle, cool to see the move to such a rad riding spot. I believe you and I have only crossed paths once very briefly at Spider, given we're from opposite sides of Texas, but the kiddo and I will be up there tuesday and wednesday so please give a shout if you happen to spot the ol' dreads (what most folks know me by) or dad and son riding a pair of Transition Patrols (one green, one raw).
Yes we certainly did meet at Spider! Tuesday and Wednesday should be excellent days for riding. If I'm out riding after work, I'll keep an eye out for you both!
@@CobraKyle awesome, stoked you remember :-) We did bump the trip back a day to weds/thurs but we'll still be there. Probably going to ride Huntley first on weds then SP thursday. Definitely gotta see the 8th street jumps! The pump track wasn't even officially open last time we were there!
BCPOV put out a video of how Bentonville is the self proclaimed Mtn Bike Capitol of the World, he of course didn't agree and I am sure others do. Regardless, they have done a fantastic job of building a model cycling community. I rode the Razorback Greenway back in 2015 for the first time on my road bike and was absolutely amazed at how courteous drivers were to let me cross even when they had the right of way. Bentonville/NW Arkansas may not be technically the Capitol of Mtn biking, but they doing a great job getting there
Yeah I watched his video about it. It boils down to perspective I suppose. He's from Canada and makes a living driving around riding trails. People that live in places like Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas even where it's super flat think this place is incredible. The "Mountain Bike Capital of the World" I imagine is a clever marketing term to get people talking/visiting, and I agree with that title in terms of the amount of trails being built. 2 miles a week on average is pretty wild! If you build it, they will come, and I'm stoked to see what the future holds here!
@@CobraKyle I just hope there's at least some natural terrain being built in an equal amount. At Turkey Mtn in Tulsa, OK there's a company building flow trails and literally taking some of the technical trails out in the process. If you get a chance, check out the trails at Claremore Lake here in Oklahoma. A guy named Rory and allt of volunteers are doing a great job of building and maintaining the trails. They're even building several jump lines to satisfy the needs of the flow/gravity crowd.
@@johnnydoe66 I think outside of Slaughter Pen is where you can find some more natural trails. I certainly prefer natural tech trails over flowy lines, but slaughter pen is just loaded with flow lines. Seems like the back 40, little sugar, and that area is a bit more natural type of riding so I'll have to explore those areas some more. I may venture over to Oklahoma eventually since it's pretty close! Have heard some positive reviews of the riding there!
@@CobraKyle A friend and I did the whole Back 40 loop w/ the Ledges the last day of January. Weather was perfect and we had a blast. I will definitely make plans for riding Little Sugar and also Devil's Den
everyone in B-ville is friendly and always says hi while here in NY if you ignore someone they will also ignore you. no one says hi or wants small talk with ya anyway
haha yeah I think it took us 15 minutes to unload the truck? He drove my car so I didn't have to trailer it too. Gas actually was cheaper than renting a trailer to tow it oddly enough!
