You forgot to mention the fact that the “king” of the vale was just a young boy whose mother was truly in charge and only bent the knee after seeing her young son sitting on the lap of Visenya Targaryen to whom who was sitting at the foot of her dragon then when the young boy saw his mother he excitedly ran to her asking if he could go for a ride on the massive beast not knowing the complexities of what was occurring in that very moment.... I just always loved that bit of lore
*”And it was said afterward that the little king flew thrice about the summit of the Giant’s Lance and landed to find himself a lord”* TWOIAF Aegon “The Conquerer” Page 43
5:56 so can we just pause for a moment and admire the fact that George R. R. martin put in time and effort for this book, AND has more names in the past lore that he hasn't even used yet than most writers have in their whole series. the amount of names here alone could make an entire series and it's just some past lore.
This is an incredibly minor gripe, but it bugs me that the timeline was changed so the Doom of Valyria no longer happened in 114 BC, but is now an exact century before Aegon went conquering. I liked that little hint that the "Century of Blood" wasn't an exact century, the same way the Hundred Years War was 116 years long.
There’s more than 7 kingdoms in the seven kingdom, it’s because when Aegon conquered Westeros the Riverland was under control of the Iron Born, but those 2 where never ruled as a single province under the Targaryen.
The north was just like America is now. Constantly helping other bullshit regions, and helping them win with no return. All we aka the north does is risk soldiers like nothing. Thats as far as I’ll go without going off. Not sure what Jon Snow’s role will be in the books but if Sansas show arc carries to the books and she goes through all that shit but ends up making the north independent that would be dope. And I’ve read all the books so I don’t need nerds like me explaining why this can,and why this cAnt happen. Let’s just agree the north being Indy would be awesome
In Robert's rebellion, the north clearly had to fight, since the mad king burned their lord, his eldest son and demanded Eddard Stark's head. In the Greyjoy rebellion, the north fought against the ironborn exactly like everyone else on the continent did, and in the war of the five kings the north once again clearly had to fight, since not only did the Lannister's hold their lord hostage, they were also ravaging through regions allied to the north by marriage. In all these cases, the "return" for the northmen, was their honour, intact.
Doubtful she will go trough show arc, we already know she won’t get raped by Ramsey, she will probably remain a kind character in the books, it’s a characteristic she kept from all 5 books so far, she just grew less naive about the fact that not everyone deserves her kindness. She also gear up to be more manipulative, she learned to survive Kinglanding by acting as she needed to survive, lying her ass off. And now she will get some lessons from Littlefinger. Trough she will keep her kind heart again trough it. I can see her exposing Littlefingers lies to the Lords of the Vale at some point and ride off to the rescue of the North at the head of not only the Vale Army but also the Riverland as a Tully and as a ruler of the Vale trough either Henry the heir or Robert Arryn
