I just got these as my first units. Rule of cool and all. 😁

At the end of the day I think this is investing more points to make an already expensive unit not terrible

I think a 2+ save would be good, just like champions of the stag. It would match their description as well, bcuz now the best armored soldiers in the real have the same defensive stats as a guardsmen.

I personally think paired up with Tywin commander, pycelle, and roose will take more advantage of these guys.

As a lannister player I'm already happy with the new sculpts and in general think its going to end up in my lists. Of course as I figured its a unit that Meryn Trant will do Wonders in not to mention it is extremely easy to build up conditions in lannister lists due to our NCU's and our cards or attachments that are always dishing out different types of attacks and more. I do believe that I'll be running just one for now when the chance comes mostly because I want to see how the performance is before going in knee deep and buying more than one of them if I so choose. I can see myself running this with Pycelle and Joffrey NCU to always have the crown for the purposes of Kingsguard which is very easy to get going. I think personally the ability to utterly shut off a unit every time I go into attack is strong because that's likely to actually blow up a unit entirely along with denying the enemy the chance to target it with any sort of save unit cards. As in the case with Greyjoy, we do not sow or What is dead may never die which denies them from saving what could be an extra needed unit in some modes. I will say the cost, slow moving nature of the unit are negatives though but considering what you can do with them for 1 point attachments It can be detrimental for a 9 point sink in a list but we will see. I'll rate them a 7/10

The Problem is, that you have to expend the tokens from the enemy. If they just got the buffs, depending on what tokens the enemy has, while still being able to expend them for their attack, they would be actualy playable (still not as good as just a unit of Flayed Men though I fear..), but in their current state, the unit jut dosn`t work for the high cost. :/

Nice video, I know you can't talk about every single combo in one video but I really thought Tywin Lannister was the obvious commander for this unit. He brings lannister supremacy and a weakened token each turn. He basicaly garanti them 7 attacks with sundering. Am I wrong?

You are, Tywin is an unfortunate choice to include in this unit. His cards have negative synergy with Honour Guards, he'd be better in Poor fellows or other cheap chaff throwing around his debuffs and using cards to actually benefit the Guards. However, if you want to run an actually good unit and want 7 dice with sundering - why not Warrior's Sons? They're better for the points and in 90% of cases they're better regardless of their cost difference.

Pycelle, Roose and warcry are some tools. It says remove tokens so being able to remove all three tokens for an alpha strike especially against hardened units.

You're better off using the vulnerable token as normal. Honour Guards are pathetic, they should be both cheaper and they should get the ability in addition to spending the token as normal, right now they're not good enough, especially for 8 pts.

This unit is beastly. It takes setup and requires that they are engaged. But it is a monster. I can see the opponent ignore this unit at all costs or ignore that side of the table as the taunt attachment could be used on a lesser unit to draw in your prey, only for the honor guard to pounce! *after playing this unit…for 8 points. I’m dissatisfied. An 8 point unit with 4 speed is not great and combined with must expend condition tokens to gain a benefit…makes this unit fall into the ‘must do something to gain something’ theme with no initial bonus. The Lannisters deserve another look from the designers moving forward. I love the faction but feel they are behind the curve. With that being said, this unit has potential (the art is beautiful, the models are beautiful, the ability is unique) but it reminds me of stag knights pre patch :(

Even as a 7 point unit they compete poorly with Warriors Sons

these look terrible. They need a lot of setup to solely make them good for one swing... they are slow and their combat stats while good are nothing special for an 8 point unit... i don't like these at all. At 6 points i could see them getting play, but at 8 i'd take anything else.
