Does anyone else think that Quaithe is not referring to places Dany has been, but to her ancestry? I think that when she says "To go forward you must go back." Quaithe is telling Daenerys to go to the ruins of old Valyria.

Theory: Daario and Euron are the same person. When Victarion attacks Meereen, Daario kills him and takes Dany with him to the ship that waits in the landing of Meereen. Daario reveals that his real name is Euron Greyjoy, and he takes Dany as his prisoner. Euron sails back to west, but Jorah Mormont, always loyal to khalesi, is hiding in the ship. He attacks Euron, and when they are fighting the ship crushes. Euron dies and Jorah and Dany see that they have arrived in Valyria. Later they are saved by dragons or maybe somebody else

+Aleksi Kotalahti Sounds like a fanfic rather than a 'theory'. Where's any clue to that ending? If Daario/Euron sailed to Mereen anyway alongside Victarion, what was the point of getting Victarion to go as well? Dany's not currently in Mereen. I also don't see it likely that Euron would lose a fight on a ship against Jorah. I don't mean to put you down, but this seems more like a nice, tidy, rushed conclusion than a valid continuation to the book.
@arvaakuka8568
@arvaakuka8568 8 лет назад
Michael Rosenbaum Ok, maybe you are right, it is kind of a fan fiction. See, I had not finished The Dance with dragons when I wrote that, so that Dany thing is not so simply anymore... I think that Victarion is needed only to trick the slavers and meereeneers when Daario/Euron finishes his plan.

I agree. AA got his weapon (sword) from killing his wife, Dany got her weapon (dragons) from killing her husband. At least that's how I look at it. Dragons could be considered a living fire sword. Besides, pre sure AA truly loved his wife & that was more the point. It had to be a real sacrifice. Idk if Dany truly loves Daario, & she defs doesn't love Hizdhar.

The line that Quaithe gave may also be about Dany's life, the first part may be about her parents, mother from the north father from the south. The second part " to go west you have to east" is that she had to travel east to travel back west to Westeros. The third part "to go forward you must go back" to understand what she must do she has to know her past/ her families past. And last part, in order to touch the light or be the light i.e. Azor Ahai, she past beneath the shadow may mean the winter and the coming of the whites, when people talk about an enemy coming they some times refer to as a great darkness or a shadow. But this just what I think, I cant wait watch your Littlefinger video.
@PrestonJacobstheSweetrobin
@PrestonJacobstheSweetrobin 9 лет назад
Its certainly possbile. I do think "going back" is about revealing Dany's past. Dany constantly says she must not look back or else she's lost. Quaithe must change that and help her find out who she is.
@jonathanbuxton-carr3350
@jonathanbuxton-carr3350 9 лет назад
Preston Jacobs Going back could refer to getting touch with her past (ie "The dragons know, do you?") or could be simpler, such as retracing her steps and going back to the Dothraki Sea and meeting up with a khalasar once again as we saw at the end of ADWD. She'll go pretty far forward if she starts convincing the remaining khalasars to follow her, which with Drogo now following her directions isn't all that far fetched an idea at all. Right about now I would not want to be either Mago or Khal Jhaqo for all the whores in Westeros as there's going to be a violent and gruesome takeover of that khalasar about 2 paragraphs into Dany's first chapter in TWOW....Eroeh über alles

@DeegeCar91

One way that I always interpreted the part of Quaithe's prophecy, "the to reach the west you must go east" is that Dany will literally travel east all around the world until she reaches the western side of Westeros. Maybe land on Bear Island and check out Jorah's hometown. The scaling of the maps of course isn't supposed to be perfect, but I'd estimate the known world to be about 5500 miles wide from western Dorne to Qarth, which if the world is the same size as the Earth, would leave about 19500 miles left at the equator, but if you traveled over the north pole, that would cut a lot of distance. Also, this could help explain "to journey north, you must go south." When you cross the north pole, you begin to go south to reach the "North" that was your intended destination. Maybe she'll get lost in the lands of always winter. And, the fact that the world is in darkness in winter can make it difficult to tell which way is north. tl:dr: I think I've analyzed this too much

Emporerofkortoph Personally I have very optimistic hopes for 2016, but I feel that it will be released in 2017. And the pessimist in me is even worse. My pessimistic side feels that it will come in about 3 years. But there is a lot of support for about 2 years, if martin keeps writing at previously seen rates we will likely see it in 2 years depending on the length of the book.
@orcsheaddriller
@orcsheaddriller 9 лет назад
Emporerofkortoph GRRM fell victim to the sweet torment: writing adiction. As he wrote one book after another he began to expand, use stuff he had thought up years, if not decades ago. He has propably admitted to himself on some level that "i'm having a good time here, there is so much more to write". Because if anyone expects to get Danny on the wall with her dragons, meet Jon Snow, make an alliance, fight the others while the Lannisters are being torn apart by the Martels and the Tyrells at King's Landing, all of that in two books, then you are very optimistic.

-The "Kraken and dark flame" are clearly Victarion Greyjoy and Moqorro. -The"lion and griffin" might be Tyrion Lannister and Jon Connington. -The "sun's son" could be the Second Son's, but probably not. -The "mummer's dragon" is an interesting one. I'm guessing it has to do with Varys (formerly a mummer) and Aegon Targaryon. -The perfumed seneschal is most likely Reznak, as he is known to wear lots of perfume. I can't think of anything else it could be. - "Red sword and blue-eyed king". The red sword is probably Lightbringer, and the blue-eyed king is probably the Great Other (the Others and their wights have bright blue eyes). This pretty clearly represents R'hllor and the Great Other, IMO. -"Blue flower in ice wall". If you believe the R+L=J theory, then this one should be obvious -> Jon Snow. This is my analysis. I'd like to hear some disagreements.

@lucykwiatek5159
@lucykwiatek5159 9 лет назад
There's, like, half a dozen theories as to who the perfumed seneschal is (they're listed here: awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Perfumed_seneschal), but I'm tempted to go with either Reznak or Varys (who is sort of a seneschal and wears a ton of perfume). I pretty much agree with your analysis, actually, but since those prophecies seem so clear-cut, they might well be alluding to things we either haven't been introduced to or haven't figured out. I'm particularly skeptical about the mummer's dragon.

The “perfumed seneschal” has been one of the most frustrating prophecies to speculate about. Dany goes almost immediately to Reznak and the fans seem to harbor ideas that this is for telling Varys but one of the characters I personally feel like this is referencing is greatly overlooked. The Green Grace is the one pushing for a marriage, who submitted Hizdar as the groom, and who has been in frequent contact with Dany. Galazza Galare is closest and most likely to use naivety and limited understanding of ghiscari culture to her own advantage. It’s maddening

Awesome video :D however, I will say that Dany makes a note of Quaithes eyes as 'wet and shiny' which could mean many things, potentially tears, but Ashara is described as having 'haunting violet eyes'. Wouldn't Dany notice purple eyes? Also, for some reason with no real proof whatsoever, I've always assumed 'Remember the Undying' was a warning against falsehood. They led her away, and tried to confuse her while finally attempting to kill her. Like I said, it's just a personal intuition
@PrestonJacobstheSweetrobin
@PrestonJacobstheSweetrobin 9 лет назад
The lack of purple eyes is an issue, but it might just be that GRRM doesn't want to reveal the info yet. For example, in Bran's first chapter "a man" throws him from the window. Bran clearly knew it was Jamie and one can puzzle out its Jaime pretty easily, but the information is excluded for some reason. I do think that the warning against falsehood is the more relevant meaning, really. Dany doesn't really understand Quaithe. She only makes her paranoid and that's what the warning did in actuality.

I wanted to share some of my other thoughts about Ashara. However, I will start with a little thought on Gilly. Gilly showed great character and love by making the difficult choice between two children that she loved . . she made a hard choice thinking about the greatest good for the greatest amount of people involved. Love, Duty, Sacrifice. Being Arthur's sister, Ashara would have spent a lot of time in King's Landing. Her brother, as Rhaegar's best friend, -likely gave her the opportunity to befriend Rhaegar and Elia. Ashara likely cared for both of them, with a particular bias towards Rhaegar -being Arthur's BFF. Ser Barriston Selmy probably also had the opportunity to get to know Arthur and Ashara reasonably well. Barriston and Ned loved Ashara. Both of these men are of strong character and capable of great love -and would be drawn to a woman with similar or greater strengths. Their hearts are particular and would most likely fall for a woman who was incredibly INTELLIGENT, loving, kind, wise, brave, and capable of self-less service. They both fell hard for Ashara, this is very telling of what is within Ashara. The beauty of her eyes goes beyond aesthetics. There are those who can smile through their eyes, adding a deeper beauty to the aesthetic (color, shape, lash-length, etc) -their eyes reflect their emotions. Such people possess the most empathy. This is Ashara Dayne. Such a person may also be drawn to the role of a healer/ helper. In mid-evil times, nuns were among the few women who had access to the education, training, and practice of the healing arts. It seems like the priestess role in G.R.R.M.'s world is similar, with added magical skills, of course. Arthur Dayne let Ned kill him . . . it likely had something to do with protecting Rhaegar's newborn -in a spell, perhaps. That Newborn was obviously important to Arthur, and thus -would be just as important to Ashara. Ashara loved both Starks. Given her feelings for both of them, and her loving nature -she likely took the time to get to know Lyanna. I imagine that she can understand and sympathize with Rhaegar's attraction to and love for Lyanna; as Ashara could not pull herself away from the 'wolf' either. She would also have a respect and duty to the realm and prophesy. Ned went to Ashara after the Tower of Joy. He would not want her to learn of what happened to Arthur from anyone, but himself. I think he also went to her to ask for help with Lyanna's baby. I think that he initially thought that the child could be a ward of Dorne. At his visit, I propose that Ned was surprised and hurt to learn of Ashara's child with Brandon. Given the details and the worry of whisperers (spies) that would inform King's Landing of suspicious newborns . . . there would need to be confusion to conceal the truth. Lyanna's child would be relentlessly hunted by Robert, until dead. Ashara cares for Rhaegar and Lyanna. What is/was important to Arthur and Ned, would be important to her too. Plus if two lives can be saved, you do what you can to save all life -when you have the heart of a healer. If Ned promised Lyanna to ensure protection of the Stark-Targaryen baby, Ned's presence around a silver-haired baby would be suspicious, endangering the child further. Preston, you brought up a great, important fact: ONLY KINGS are buried in the crypts of Winterfell. Women are not kept there! But that is where Ned put Lyanna's body. I believe that this was to prevent any inspection of Lyanna's remains that would reveal that she had given birth, for example: bony changes such as: widening of the public symphysis or a ramus fracture of the pelvis from a difficult delivery / shoulder dystocia. Before decomposition (early after her death), her skin, breast development, and soft-tissue changes are, of course, are indicative. Her body needed to be concealed and protected from any inquisitive eyes who had possibly heard any whispers of Lyanna having a child. Whispers of Ned Stark with a Child in Dorne would need to be expunged. Ned cannot go to Starfall with a Child and Lyanna's dead body and leave without a baby. There would be questions about the transported child and suspicions that it was Lyanna's with Rhaegar. Ned needed to leave with his sister's dead body and a child, and he needed to be ready to address questions and suspicions. If the child was to be passed off as no child of Rhaegar's; Ned needed a child that looked nothing like Rhaegar. Ashara happened to have a child that looked like a true Stark; that would be the perfect solution -and it would answer the questions / rumors of Ned Stark being seen with a baby traveling from the Tower of Joy to StarFall. The child would have to be claimed by Ned, and no one would doubt Ned's claim / integrity (unless the baby had silver hair and violet eyes). Ashara would be saving two babies, both babies have her love. Ashara also has the comfort that her son would be raised by a kind and noble family in the north and will have siblings, education, and opportunities. Jon is the true descendant of the King's of the North and does belong in the North given that he is the SON of the true heir of Winterfell. In addition, a Bastard had become Lord of Winterfell once before, -this opportunity cannot be a possibility for Jon, at all; if Jon were raised without knowledge of the North and Winterfell. Ashara disappeared without a trace and no one is asking questions. Like Oberyn, I think Ashara was resourceful and someone who studied a lot of mystical arts out of her own passion of learning -and protective instincts. She and Lyanna's baby disappeared . . . which is something Ned could not do, but he needed someone who could make Lyanna's child invisible (hidden in plain sight). I think Ashara's plan required that she must also disappear when bringing the Targaryen baby to safety (via/with Willem Darry) and subsequently watching over the baby, undetected. Ashara was likely still able to breastfeed and could pose as a commoner wet-nurse traveling with Willem Darry, for a time. There were enough babies at Starfall to create the required confusion and cover. I think Ashara was resourceful enough to know how to manipulate the rumor mill. On the rumor ‘grape-vine’ there was a stillborn baby girl, a baby boy, and a baby with Ned Stark. The rumors in Westeros seem to almost always have a grain of truth or more. I theorize that the truth of the baby situation was: 1) Ashara gave birth to a brunette baby boy. 2) Wylla gave birth to a stillborn baby (unreported gender). 3) Ned traveled from the Tower of Joy to Starfall with a silver-haired baby girl. Ironically, the word "Ashara" means : "miscarriage" in the language of Hausa. Ashara is a big-hearted woman, she had to part with her beloved little boy and her comfortable life as a noble woman to save more lives. If Ashara gave up nobility for the life of a priestess/healer, like Quaithe, I imagine that she has no regrets and gained access of a glass candle. With that glass candle, Quaithe/Ashara would have been able to comfort / support both Jon and Dany through their dreams. She would/could have been able to show herself to Jon in his dreams, where he most admired her "kindly eyes". Ashara would also be given fulfilling opportunities to help others on a daily basis that she could not have had as a Lady of Starfall. Another note, in ADWD, Barriston remembers the tourney at Harrenhall. He thinks about how all would have been different and better if he had won instead of Rhaegar and named Ashara as the Queen of Love and Beauty. If he had revealed his love for Ashara, perhaps he could have protected her from Stark. “No good came from silence either. If I had unhorsed Rhaegar and crowned Ashara queen of love and beauty, might she have looked to me instead of Stark?” **He only says "STARK" he does not reveal which one**

Russell Coleman Hi ! I'm glad you shared that with me, thank you. My short answer is: Yes, though less likely, it is absolutely possible since we do not have an eyewitness account of Lyanna's actual death. Okay, here goes the long answer: A unique thing about the ASOIAF is that there is NO omniscient narative. The narrative / narrator's knowledge of each chapter (except perhaps the prologues) is limited to that of the POV character's thoughts and interactions with other characters. What a character does not know; we, the reader, do not know either. If a character has/had been misinformed; we are misinformed. If a character is repeating what is thought to be "common knowledge", or what is generally accepted . . . it may not be a 'truth.'. For example: Daenerys 'Stormborn' was born on Dragonstone. However, we do not have a POV eyewitness account of this. It is a generally accepted rumor, with the assumption that the individuals who started it were being forthright. We also do not have an eyewitness to the nature of Rhaella's death; if her death actually occurred. However, a mother is reluctant to abandon her child/children (unless she is a sociopath, of course). If Rhaella were alive; she would have been begging with Viserys. The fact that Rhaella was not with Viserys and Danaerys in Pentos, supports the notion that she indeed, passed away. WHEN she actually died and the manner of her death is; however, unknown, since we do not have a reliable witness. We only know what Dany heard from an untrustworthy source, the idiot-insane Viserys. From the eyewitness, Ser Jaime Lannister, we know that Queen Rhaella was assaulted and in bad shape before leaving for Dragonstone. Rhaella had a painfully rough night with King Aerys before her departure. It is possible that she died at Dragonstone secondarily to Mad-King-induced internal injuries and insufficient maester medical care. In this book series, we are enticed by acting like true detectives, interviewing witnesses (by reading the POV witness reports) and assessing what POVs match up and which do not. Okay lets look at Lyanna: The only POV we have of Lyanna's presumed last moments are from Ned. He remembers Lyanna dying in a bed of blood and the smell of blood in the air. (Eddard X) However, he does not report a memory of her actual death. He never stated that Lyanna's words, "Promise me, Ned," were her last. In Eddard XIII, Eddard had a dream of being in the crypts of Winterfell where his father is sleeping with Lyanna and Brandon. Lyanna's statue was weeping blood and whispered, "Promise me, Ned." This is a dream and not a reality. Although the dream suggests Lyanna is dead, it is not absolute proof that her body is in the crypt (which, by the way, does NOT belong there; since she was not a King or Lord of Winterfell). After this dream, Ned was summoned to Robert's death bed where Robert tells Ned that he (Ned) was right about Daenerys. Robert then asserts that he believes that the boar was sent by the gods as punishment for the death warrant against Daenarys and he requests that Ned rescind the warrant. -Is this a temporal clue about the promise ? ? (perhaps) In Eddard IX, Ned went to Chataya's brothel to investigate Robert's bastard daughter with a prostitute. While at the brothel, Ned thinks about Jon Snow and wonders why the gods give men such LUST, only to frown on bastards. This tells us that 1) Ned believes that Jon Snow is a bastard and not a child of any type of marriage. 2) This also tells us that Ned believes that Jon Snow is a product of a Man's LUST and NOT of a man's LOVE. and 3) Ned believes that bastards are destined for punishement by the gods. Eddard does not know anything about Rhaegar's heart to make such an assumption about LUST vs. LOVE; however, he would be more able to make such a judgement when it came to his own brother, Brandon. Ned is a fair guy, and not someone who would make assumptions about people he does not know well. Lyanna in a "bed of blood" tells me that this is more than childbirth. I am not an OB/GYN, but during medical school, one is required to take an OB/GYN rotation and witness numerous labors (births). There is not enough blood to soak a bed, not even close! In a normal vaginal delivery, there is LESS than 500 mL (CCs) of blood loss, this is about a pint of blood -if that. That is not enough to fill a room with the sent of blood and it will not give an appearance of "a bed of blood." Now, if Lyanna hemorrhaged as a complication of child birth, this would create a significant strong scent and appearance of blood on the bed. The human body only has about 5 liters (~5.5 quarts) of blood -TOTAL. After the loss of 2 liters (~40% or more of the total volume of blood), this is a Class III hemorrhage and death is a guaranteed result without an emergent transfusion. The report of Lyanna dying in a "bed of blood" has a HIGH expectation of death, from a medical standpoint. However, there is magic in Westeros, and a magical Maester of Dorne could have come along. Perhaps it is Ashara who is buried in the crypts of Winterfell, while Lyanna is hiding behind a red lacquer mask. ;-)

I like your thoughts. Aegon has been on my brain and I promise I will have a write up for you. When it comes to Young Griff, Aegon, one must first take a look at "The War of the Roses." I believe that GRRM was inspired by a combination of the stories of Richard York (son of Edward IV and younger brother to Edward V) and Henry Tudor (Henry VII) when it comes to young Aegon's story arc and purpose/role in ASOIAF. I'll get more into it, but . . . : When your husband dies and you know that you are surrounded by aggressive and hungry vultures (or soon will be), does a woman / mother put both of her most precious jewels in the same box ? ? ? . . . more to come.

Quathe= Shierra. Lemore= Ashara. Ned finds Lyanna. Lyanna says "Promise me, Ned, that you will protect my daughter." Ned thinks that he can't pass off a blonde purple eyed baby as his own and decides to pair her with Viserys so they can be together. Given the evidence of Howland Reed's magic there is no way Ned can return any of the bodies without raising further suspicions. He takes Dawn, baby D, and anything else he can from the tower before burning it down. He takes Dany and Dawn to Starfell. House Dayne is happy to have their sword back and honored that their greatest warrior gave his life for the ultimate greater good. Ashara reveals that she was impregnated after a night of passion with Brandon. Ashara wants to continue her brother's work in protecting TPtwP. Ned wants to protect the honor of House Dayne as well as have his brother's heir with him to raise in the Stark way. Both Jon and Dany nurse from Wylla (who had miscarried the daughter Ashara would claim as her own). Ashara takes Dany to Viserys and then decides to support the Targeryan cause by raising Rhaeger.

+Zikomo7 My biggest to problems with this is that Jon and Dany were not born at the same time! For Dany to be Lyanna's child that would make her around 9mnts older, the timeline simply does not work any other way. So by the time she got to Dragonstone she'd be almost 10-11 mths. (unless baby Dany was smuggled to Dragonstone way earlier, in which case for 9mths she would have had to have gone unnoticed by the guards that turned on the Targaryens and went to Robert because if they knew she wasnt really Aerys Targaryen's daughter and was in fact Lyanna's you bet they'd be telling Robert, like a-sap!) I'm assuming you've at one time or another been around babies, and no denying there is not a SNOWBALLS chance in hell your passing of a 9-11mnt old as a new born, like 'oh, yeah my new born eats solids, she's just a wonder child, and did I mention, she crawls, smiles, and says 'Mama','. Not happening. And no matter what if Ashara was Jon's son and she has a candle then she would have done something about his good ol' stabby stabby. There would have to be blood magic involed for Dany to be Lyanna's child, and dont forget genetics, Lyanna's mother would have also had to have light hair and eyes for Lyanna's child to stand ANY chance of getting even blonde hair and blue eyes let alone purple eyes and white hair...
@Zikomo7
@Zikomo7 9 лет назад
Regarding genetics, maybe Rhaegar just had strong genes? It's rare, but not as rare as surviving a fire and hatching dragons. You do have a point about the time. It's tricky. Witch craft is an option. Rhaegar did have some powerful company with them. Maybe they accelerated Lyanna's pregnancy. Or maybe everyone who saw her (like 8-ish people) knew she was older. Or maybe they didn't. Men hardly knew what a newborn baby looked like compared to a 9 month old. Some still don't. Hiding Dany wouldn't be as big an issue. Between Targaryan loyalists and the borderline magical Varys, I think they could have found a way. I couldn't follow what you were saying about Ashara.
@Zikomo7
@Zikomo7 9 лет назад
Toscalily What always makes me pause is Dany's vision in the House of the Undying where Rhaegar says he's the prince that was promised while looking in Dany's eyes. Look at the naming scheme. The original Targ conquerors were Aegion, Visenya, and Rhaenys. Rhaegar has two children named Rhaenys and Aegion. Where's Visenya, the missing 3rd Targ child? I think they changed her name because everyone was looking for Visenya
@Toscalily
@Toscalily 9 лет назад
Zikomo7 Maybe, I mean the dream was very provocative... I just dont think it;s possible she is Lyanna's child though. Is it possible Rhaegar fathered a child with someone else? Is it possible he is both Jon and Dany's father? And I don't feel like the prince who is promised will be a single person anyway, I believe the price who was promised is the three headed dragon and there will be at least three people who work together to bring an end to both the Great Other and the Red God, maybe they will all have Aegon's blood? But it simply doesn't add up that if Lyanna had a baby the day need found her that Dany could be the baby....
@Zikomo7
@Zikomo7 9 лет назад
What about that one time where Cat is pestering Ned about Ashara and he says don't ask me about Jon. But I suppose Jon being the child of Rhaegar is the clean and simple answer. I admit I'm biased because I want Jon to be part Dayne so Dawn will accept him and Dawn will get popular and I can buy a replica :) In your favor, I admit that the show runners know about the ending and they haven't said anything about House Dayne (not yet anyway) How are non-book readers going to catch on? Then again the show is crap so....

@MLCMD
@MLCMD 9 лет назад
basboosa Considering that G.R.R.M. stated that Dany is 8-9 months younger than Jon: If R + L = J, given time for Ned to arrive at the Tower of Joy, Jon would have been born ~ 2-3 months after the sack of King's Landing. Lyanna was not in a bed of dried blood, it was fresh. If Aerys + Rhaella = Dany: Dany was born 9 moons shortly after the war of the Trident (when Rhaella was sent to Dragonstone), making her birth ~7-8 months after the sack of Kings Landing. Therefore, if the above parentage is correct: there is only a 4-5 month age difference between Jon and Dany. G.R.R.M. clearly stated that there is an 8-9 month difference. Therefore, R + L = J and A + R = D : does NOT add up! However, B + A = J , and R + L = D would create an 8-9 month age difference. (Brandon and Ashara could have conceived anywhere between the Harrenhal Tourney up to when Brandon was in the Dungeons of King's Landing. Arthur Dayne was the best of the King's Guard, and he could have granted access to the dungeons to Ashara Dayne, who was a hand-maiden to Elia Martell).

***** If Robert Legitimizes Jon as Brandons son, he will inherit Winterfell instead of Rob. Ned might be honorable to a fault, but there is one thing he will chose before honor, his family. Besides he might very well come to the assumption that Jon's life would be in danger if everyone saw him as the heir to Winterfell, Ned's enemies could want to kidnap Jon to use him against Ned and his family. If Brandon met Ashara Dayne at the Tourney of Harrenhall, then stopped by to pay her a visit on the way to Kings Landing to demand his sisters release, he could have sired Jon at that meeting, then died only weeks or days later. Or, as Preston believes, if Ashara Dayne served at Kings Landing, she could have visited Brandon while he was incarcerated waiting for his father to arrive. Ser Arthur Dayne would not know anything about it.

Ex0dus111 Jon would still be his blood; he would be his nephew..Ned is certainly not the type to steal someone else's seat for his own benefit. In the books Ned never liked the fact that he got to rule Winterfell instead of Brandon. To him, Brandon is the rightful lord of Winterfell. Many characters in the book talk of how he hates ruling and being involved in politics and as the Lord of Winterfell he had to do so with a lot of his Northern lords and banner men which is no surprise since the North is the largest part of Westeros

The "perfumed seneschal" is the ship is the Selaesori Qhoran." A "seneschal" is a steward of a castle or a governor or administrative officer." The Red Priest Moqorro tells Tyrion that the name of their ship, the Selaesori Qhoran is translated as "Fragrant Steward": a "Qhoran" is "steward or magister" and "selaesori" is 'imbued with a pleasant aroma... Fragrant... Flowery." Tyrion liked to call the shop he "Stinky Steward"' but Moqorro corrected him, saying: "Fragrant Steward." Therefore, "perfumed seneschal" = "Selaesori Qhoran" Quaithe has warned Daenerys to beware of the ship carrying her "Old Bear" Jorah Mormont, Tyrion Lannister, Penny, Penny's Dog, and Pretty the Pig.

Hi Preston Jacobs, big fan of your series. Good production quality and you have improve a lot as a voice-actor when reading quotes since the early videos. I'm currently re-reading FFC preparing myself for season 5 of the TV show and something caught my attention regarding Dornes' geography... there is a place just outside Sunspear called or referred to as "Shadow City". So, I was wondering if we can read all Quaithe's prophecies as going south to Dorne and pass beneath this city (through dungeons perhaps) and find the TRUTH there instead of going to Ashai, hell! maybe she is hinting where the place with the "red door" is!. After all, we all know the sweetest limes, oranges and lemons are from Dorne and not Braavos.

Ok so I have a few theories about the perfumed seneschal, Quaithe being Ashara and why Arthur Dayne's body was never returned. I think the meaning of the PS prophecy might be found in Tyrion's story. At some point, Tyrion embarks on a ship whose name Tyrion translates to "The Stinking Chamberlain" (or something of the sort, don't remember the exact translation he settles on). Why even mention the name of that ship if it wasn't important? Now I don't know who else was on that ship but maybe Quaithe has an agent there. As for Arthur and Ashara. I think neither Arthur Dayne didn't die at the Tower of Joy. I think nobody died at the ToJ. Ned's party came to an agreement with the Kingsgate, everybody swore secrecy, and the men who died" there actually went to Essos to protect baby Dany. Ned then went to see Ashara, told her the secret, and she left to Essos as well to join her brother. After all, it is said that she died by jumping from a tower into the see. That could be a metaphor for Ashara actually crossing the sea.

Love the eerie introduction, perfect for Quaithe. It would be brilliant for Quaithe to be Ashara Dayne, if Ashara had faked her death -she would need to hide her face and change her persona to evade suspicion. Being Ashara, she would be one of the few who knew the truth about Dany. If she is the one sending Dany visions (or at least somehow involved) the blue rose at The Wall may be the composite of the hope of a mother, a suggestion that Dany, the daughter of Liana, can and will help Jon at The Wall -who is Dany's cousin and, like her, -is a bastard taken away from one's parents (deepening the bond between Dany and Jon). Another thing I love about L + R = D, and B + A = J: Jon, being Brandon's son (especially if he were legitimized), would give Jon more claim over Winterfell than Ned and his children. This factoid would burden Ned's conscience as he takes what is actually Jon's. Furthermore, when Jon takes the Black, Ned would feel relief on two levels: 1) He will assume no harm will come to Jon there. 2) ** Jon willingly gave-up any claim to land and titles, this would ease Ned's conscience for taking what would rightly belong to Brandon's heir. Ned's somber demeanor indicates, in my opinion, that he is carrying a complex, guilt-heavy burden involving more than just Jon, Liana, and Catelyn. G.R.R.M is complex, life is complex. L + R = J is too simplistic for G.R.R.M's intellectual-emotional-creative genius and talent. I think you really pick up what G.R.R.M. is putting down, brilliantly. Interesting and thought provoking as always. Fantastic Holiday Treat! Wish you could produce audio-books of ASOIAF, you have a very talented speaking style and vocal range. Very entertaining and likable. Strong Work, looking forward to Little Finger, he is a dirty monkey. Great production -the timing of your visuals, and the visuals that you selected are perfect. Each production that you release gets better and better.

Why does Quaithe need to be Ashara Dayne? Why does every mysterious character need to have some highborn identity? Blah blah blah Quaithe is Ashara, Daario is Benjen, Howland Reed is the High Septon and so on. It'd be tacky if GRRM played every hand like that.
@NamesForDogs
@NamesForDogs 9 лет назад
Ashara has been mentioned far too often for her not to play an important role, even if she is dead as is always said in the books. Personally, I kind of want Howland + Ashara = Meera & Jojen to be true, but I admit that it doesn't seem likely.

The show has been very focused on Jon and his parentage. Lyanna is mentioned where as Ashara, not so much. Therefore it wouldn't really be a big deal for the reveal to be for Jon to be Ashara's and Brandon's son because show watchers wouldn't care. Jon himself wouldn't have anything in him that would be detrimental to the overall impact that the show is clearly placing him in. Preston says in another video that Ned is haunted by his "promise me" dreams because it is about Dany. I disagree. He's haunted because he has lied to Jon and his family for Jon's whole life, making him think he was an accident; an outsider to the family (as well as being a sore spot in Ned's marriage). To the point Jon feels going to the Wall will make him something more than a bastard. Ned clearly wants to tell Jon the truth but he can't tell anyone because Robert could want him killed. Not stopping Jon from going to the Wall solidifies Jon's "un-importance", which seems to be a big trend throughout his entire life when it comes to his portrayal on the show. Jon mentions and thinks about his mother on the show a lot in the beginning. If the woman wasn't known to the show-watchers in some capacity then why would it matter? And Ned won't even tell Jon if his mother is dead or alive. That would make sense if his mother was Lyanna because the less information everyone (Robert) has the better. But if it was Ashara, then what would be the harm in at least telling him that much without divulging who she was if Ned didn't want to. If Jon was Ned's nephew, and Ned loving his brother so much, he wouldn't have to lie about Jon's parentage, and being as honorable as Ned is, he'd could simply groom Jon to take over Winterfell as honor and duty would state. But then, would Jon even had been able to take over Winterfell, because unless Brandon and Ashara married, he'd still be a bastard. It makes a lot more sense for Ned to come up with the entire lie of making Jon seem un-important to keep it from being known that he is part Targaryen because of Robert's hatred of Rhaegar and all others. If Dany was Rhaegar's and Lyanna's it wouldn't be a big deal within the show at all. She's already a Targ. GRRM said that some of the roads may be different when it comes to how the show and the books tell the story, but that they will ultimately share the same ending, so when it comes to major plot points, the show is going to only showcase information that is a big deal and important to the end of the story with the limited amount of time they are given. R+L=J would be huge in that there would be two known Targaryens in the world and Jon would finally have all of his questions answered when and however he finds out everything as well as a more definitive destiny if prophecies are to be fulfilled. Dany and him are the main keys to the ending.

I feel like Dany has already fulfilled the prophecy. She already killed her lover (smothering Drogo) and forged her 'sword of fire' by hatching her dragons in his pyre. I feel like Quaithe already believes Dany is Azor Ahai and has her 'Lightbringer' already. This part doesn't need more fulfilling, the fortune telling is more about manipulating Dany than it's about getting her to fulfill the Azor Ahai prophecy.

Is it possible that Jon and Dany are fraternal twins? Born from R+L? Each taking on different traits from the respective houses?
@quixote1814
@quixote1814 9 лет назад
I've always asked readers if they thought that it was possible too, but no one ever answers :( They HAVE to be siblings. If not twins, could Jon be 8/9 months old when Lyanna gives birth to Dany?? Making Ned promise to take care of BOTH of them. He could only take Jon in as he had dark hair traits. He could only send Dany (silver haired) with Viserys because they had a safety plan for him and his sister already set out.. Perhaps Viserys' sister was still born and it wasn't spoken of to keep Dany safe and become her replacement as they grew up. Dany and Jon should win the war.. Both ice and fire... Then, they should marry, have kids and carry on or rebirth the traditions of Targaryens again.. That's how it should end.

R+L=D doesn't fit. it can't be true. amongst other holes in the thoery, most noticably the timeline doesn't allow it. dany is too young - she was born on dragonstone *almost a year* after lyanna died (way down in the ToJ half a continent away!!). and there were witnesses. viserys fled with his pregnant mother to dragonstone where they remained for months and was old enough to remember, and they were also guarded by the targaryen forces there. these forces later turned against them when robert had won and stannis was on his way, so if there was some conspiracy SOMEHOW going on they would have happily given it up to win themselves favour with robert. williem darry was their only saviour there - that and the storms amongst which dany was born that delayed stannis's fleet from getting there sooner. that someway somehow R+L got together and holed up in the ToJ completely isolated from everything and had dany...but dany was smuggled off to dragonstone amidst the worst storms in history and hid there with no one knowing, and then passed off as a newborn baby despite being just shy of a year old?????? i don't know if you've spent much time around babies but that's a HUGE difference! and all of this seems to be based on nothing? at least it's not covered in this video anyway....you just say "she dreams she's rhaegar. so as rhaegar's daughter..." - sorry but that was a hugh WTF moment for me when you blurted that one out out of nowhere! there's nothing to suggest she's rhaegar's daughter whatsoever - only symbolism of "the dragon". "rhaegar was the last dragon" etc etc as dany grows and strengthens and eventually brings the real creatures themselves back into the world....that's just symbolic. she idolises her noble dragon prince brother in a way she can't with anyone else (because they're pricks and literally fucking crazy), but they are still siblings. there IS a strong bond of familial connection there, but father and daughter??? no. it can't possibly make sense. and it's not needed. AA was prophesised to come from the line of aerys and rhaella - that was the only reason they married in the first place. neither wanted to and both objected, but were forced into it. dany could be AA without rhaegar ever even being born..... dany was conceived when aerys raped rhaella after burning one of his hands alive (per jaimie's recollection) after the war was already well underway. that timeline backed up by evidence from the books fits 100% perfectly....i don't get why anyone would contest it?

Preston Jacobs hey - i've just watched that video you recommended and all it means is that dany might have made a mistake about it being bravos when it was further south, or maybe that the house was simply further inland as a country house (that was always my natural assumption from it's description anyway, but i'd never looked at it in so much detail). it doesn't address ANY of the points i raised above (specifically the timeline of dany's birthday and the frankly majestic loopholes you'd have to leap through to squeeze that into making a lick of sense). nor does it indicate *WHY* you would even bother???.....like i said, dany doesn't need to be rhaegar's daughter to be of a special and prophesised bloodline - she just needs to be the offspring of aerys and rhaella....which she is.....according to EVERYONE in the story alive at that time including numerous actual firsthand eye-witnesses!!! like, i see what it is you're attempting to do here in making dany *extra* special.....but i don't understand the point? she obviously already is...i don't get why you're going down this R+L being dany route against all canon book evidence and logic, when it's all ultimately unneccessary because if she's one of the AAs she's already in prime position by being the daughter of aerys and rhaella. rhaegar BELIEVED in the prophesies...but he didn't have a damn thing to do with them. it's aerys and rhaella's *line* that would create AA, and rhaegar's just one option of that. if a child of rhaegar's does follows through then well and good - but dany doesn't need him for that. she's already got the special juice flowing on her own, just as his sister.

scamrasc The point of the Red Door is that everything Dany knows about her life is from Viserys, yet Viserys lied about the location of the House of the Red Door. Why? And what else did he lie about? We must now take everything about Dany's supposed childhood with a grain of salt. When you say there were witnesses at Dragonstone, who are you talking about? Do we have a single name? Viserys said there was Willem Darry (dead), four loyal men (missing) and a wetnurse (missing). Let's also keep in mind that the Ghost of High Heart is the one that thought TPTWP would come from the line of Aerys and Rhaela. Rhaegar then thought it was himself and then thought it would be his child. Perhaps they are all right. Perhaps they are all wrong. We shall see. Its hard to predict prophecy.
@scamrasc
@scamrasc 9 лет назад
Preston Jacobs (unintentionally long post alert) that is a HUUUGGGGGEEEE leap to take one single discrepancy that she one single time referred to the house as being in bravos to somehow equating to 'everything is a lie and rhaegar is her father'!!! like.....come on... as i said before, she was a kid. maybe she got confused where it was. maybe it wasn't technically in bravos but further inland and bravos was the closest city. maybe GRRM made a mistake in the text. or maybe viserys did lie - for what possible reason? what motive could he have really feasibly had??? and HOW does that somehow stretch to R+L=D?? you're literally taking *one word* mentioned one time in one book and using it to set fire to all previously established canon of the rebellion. and you're still not addressing the timeline. lyanna was at the ToJ and died there almost a year before dany was born. dany's mother rhaella was *KNOWN* to be pregnant by *the entire realm*(!!! literally everybody in the kingdom knew of her pregnancy and heard about dany's birth when robert was king. i'd say that counts as witnesses a plenty...only an entire continent was privey to this information...and the eyewitnesses were the targ guard who later defected to robert. i'd think they'd have mentioned "btw it's all a hoax queenie's not preggers and the new princess is actually about a year old already and your bessie mate ned stark rowed her here through impenetrable storms himself! thought you should know"..) and was shipped off to dragonstone alongside viserys where they were placed on lockdown and guarded for *several months*. fierce storms ravaged the place. there was no access - that is why stannis had to wait so long when rebuilding his fleet before he could set sail again. *no access!!!* jaime's recollection of rhaella's rape fits PERFECTLY with dany's subsequent birth - that was her conception! you still haven't offered a shred of evidence to negate any of these cold hard facts. you are honestly trying to argue that rhaegar is dany's secret father with lyanna being her mother (once more - why?...) despite a) no possible evidence from the text to even hint at it and b) literally everything we know from the text thus far screaming against it! it's not even a case of "well it never says it didn't happen", because yes, yes it does say it never happened. more than that, it says it couldn't have happened. it's a physical impossibility. the meaning of "from aerys and rhaella's line" is that any subsequent descendant of theirs could fit the bill. if it was rhaegar's great-great-great-great grandchild then it would still be of aerys and rhaella's line. exactly the same as if it's dany. this is what i'm saying - i do not understand why you're trying to argue an impossibility based on empty nothingness for an outcome that's already supported by textual canon anyway. if dany were feasibly rhaegar's daughter it wouldn't make a damn jot of difference to her being AA or not! she already fulfils the "blood" requisites by being the daughter of aerys and rhaella. and if you're going to say "prophesy's difficult" - yes i wholeheartedly agree, it very much so is...but then why bother with any of this at all? then why set stock in rhaegar - who no prophesy was ever made about in the first place? HE believed it about HIMSELF purely down to his own misguided interpretation, and was wrong. it could be very possible that it could be a child of his. or it might not. it also could have been viserys, or rhaego....none of that affects dany though, whose potential to be AA already exists completely separate of rhaegar's existence. the only way that rhaegar matters in this prophesy is if he DOES have a living child that's NOT already known to the world as a targ by A&R. i.e. aegon, jon or....well literally anyone that's not dany tbh. because as the only living child of A&R she's currently the only person in the world for sure known to still be connected by blood to that line/prophesy. what i'm trying to get across here with this particular point, is that dany being rhaegar's daughter, would have no actual literary purpose.
@PrestonJacobstheSweetrobin

scamrasc Well, she refers to the house being in Braavos several times. Additionally, people have been pointing out the lemon tree for a few years now. Once the Mercy chapter came out last year, it clinched it for me. This is no mistake, GRRM is intentionally telling us there are no lemon trees in Braavos. Why? It is interesting that you need to switch to passive voice when you talk that Dany's birth "was known." By whom? You say "everyone." Who? Specifically. Viserys was on lockdown on Dragonstone, but how do we know Dany was born there? Who was the witness? How do we know that Rhaella didn't miscarry as she did so often in the past? As it turns out, the timeline does not work out (for anything really). I go into the timeline in detail in Tower, Tower, Joy, Joy part 3. But, the idea that the rape of Rhaella is Dany's conception is not really supported by anything. We don't know when Dany was born. So how can it fit perfectly? If the rape was Dany's conception and Jon is 8-9 months older than Dany (as GRRM says), than Jon is born during the Sack of KL. Which means he is born a couple months before Ned could possibly make it to the ToJ.

I think the Catelyn scene about Ned drinking from the cup and Brandon being dead is tied to Bar de Porto's theory that Robb isn't Ned's son and that Catelyn might have been pregnant with Brandon's child when she and Ned married. And drinking from the cup is the symbol of Ned taking on all the roles that were supposed to be his brother's. I.e. Lord of Winterfel, husband of Catelyn and father of Robb.

Of course Tyrion, Jon and Aegon never made it to meet Dany, but they intended to, at the time.

The R+L=D theory doesn't fit because Dany has recessive traits if she was at all kin to Lyanna her genes would of masked over her Targaryen genes. Targaryens would marry each other to keep their blood lines pure for that very reason they did not want to dilute the better genes which to them was features of old Valyria.
@BadgerPride89
@BadgerPride89 8 лет назад
+Grace Gilbert Well, tbh, we don't know exactly how dominant stark genes are. For example, dark brown/black hair being overpowered by red is rather unusual in the real world, especially in 4/5 kids. We know how the genes are supposed to work but Martin has said himself that some lines (ie Baratheons overpowering all blonde genes always; there should be at least one blonde in there, statistically speaking) do not follow real world genetics. We're only assuming the Stark genes overpower Targaryen because we assume Jon is Lyanna and Rhaegar's son. Keep in mind that Rhaegar's genes were strong enough to produce one Targaryen-looking child with a black haired, dark skinned woman whose last Targaryen ancestor was several generation earlier.
@MissMdubs
@MissMdubs 8 лет назад
Until the Stark-Tully-Arryn alliance most of the noble families married within their own bloodlines or a select group of trusted vassal houses. The strength of certain family traits seems to be attributed to that. So the Stark's look "northern" just as Irish people look "Irish" and Italian people look "Italian" and the family line is probably more pronounced due to the incestuousness of their family history. House Baratheon is a curious case. Everyone - all the males at least (haven't heard much about the females - except for Stannis' daughter) resemble Orys Boratheon, the House's original founder, who himself was a Targaryen bastard. He was born about a hundred years after the Targaryens fled the doom to Dragonstone so his mother or father was presumably Westerosi. This was when the Targaryen line was at its purest and over the next 300 years as the Targaryen line became diluted, despite continuing incestuous practices, they began to produce children with a spread of traits. Meawhile the Boratheon line seems to have remained the same even though its marriages seem much more diverse throughout history - Robert Boratheon having a targaryen Aunt through which he was able to claim the Throne being one example. If we take Preston's view that there's a SciFi answer to explain most curiosities I have to wonder if House Boratheon was descended from some sort of warrior clone or something that is only capable of reproducing itself. It doesn't seem to have any special abilities besides that. Might just be a plot device to prove Joffrey is a bastard but it IS weird and needs explaining I think.

Are you going to make a mention of Daemon Blackfyre II at some point as well? There's so much that strikes me odd about him in the Dunk & Egg tales, which makes me suspect the whole second Blackfyre Rebellion was just a clever ruse, such as the fact his bannermen never showed him any support, and the sword Blackfyre was still with Bittersteel in the free cities. People always speak of the female Blackfyre line as the only possible survivors, but the death of Daemon Blackfyre II isn't ever mentioned. Appearantly Bloodraven brought him to the Black Cells to keep him hostage and prevent any future rebellions, yet it didn't take that long before the next brother in line decided to try as well. And Daemon Blackfyre II is then lost from record from that point. Later, in GoT, a Faceless Man (Jaquen H'qar) appears in the black cells, with no previous record or reason for why he would be in there. And then the Blackfyres keep invading and dying, yet at no point do they actually bring the Blackfyre sword with them to battle again. Just as Daemon Blackfyre II it is lost from record. Why is this such an interesting connection? The Dunk & Egg tales in question centers around a tournament with Lord Ambrose' dragon egg as the main prize, and Jaquen H'qar spend most of his time after finding his freedom with a group of sellswords roaming the area surrounding Harrenhal, which happens to be the area Lord Ambrose' hall lay in before Bloodraven had it torn down, burnt and the ground salted. There is no mention of what was actually done with the dragon egg, except Bloodraven subtly claiming he might have had it stolen with the help of the children of the forest. And after disappearing when he helped Arya, the suspected new identity of Jaqen is last seen in Oldtown, thought to be looking for information on hatching dragons. Another interesting note perhaps in regards to the Targaryens and thus also Blackfyres, is that they traditionally marry in the family. However, children like Bloodraven and Bittersteel were also produced with non-Targaryens. Some of the key-features on these children seem to spring from their mothers, and not their fathers. Suggesting the Targaryen gene carry stronger from a female parent then a male parent, or as with Robert B. The seed is not so strong. Daemon Blackfyre however had a Targaryen mother, and Targaryen traits. Assuming this connection to be true for the Targaryen bloodline, it would be a safe assumption that the seed of Daemon Blackfyre II (Yes, I know he was suspected to be gay) would not show strong Targaryen features in the offspring. Thus the more interesting part for potential candidates would be basing ourselves on history. One person that would be about the right age to be the son of Daemon Blackfyre II, is a sellsword from Braavos who settled on the fingers in the Vale, Petyr Baelish grandfather. Again a man with no further history, apart from being a sellsword from the free cities, specifically Braavos where the Faceless Men belong. Could Jaqen H'qar have been hired to impersonate Daemon Blackfyre II in the second Blackfyre rebellion, and have stayed hidden in the black cells ever since? Not necessarily, but still not unlikely. Could Petyr Baelish thus somehow be, for example, a descendant of the real Daemon Blackfyre II, and one generation later a female Reyne? Not necessarily, but also still not unlikely. Could the sellsword from Braavos have been gifted the fingers, and his knighthood and the position for his sons by Lord Corbray, because Daemon Blackfyre is considered to have sacrificed his life and his rebellion on the battlefield to save his opponent in battle, Gwayne Corbray, and saving Lady Forlorn for them? Seems legit, especially considering how well the Corbrays seems to have been doing Littlefingers bidding, even since been before he became Lord of anything but the fingers... Why is it worth investigating such a wild shot in the dark? Well, if we look at the implications for Aryas storyline it gives her being in Braavos much more of a purpose then just watching Sam and Gilly passing through, and a lot of wild guesses on how she and Jon will be happily reunited despite all odds. It give us insight into how the Faceless Men operate and their codex, so we know in such an eventuality the Blackfyres would need to provide a sacrifice worth the seven kingdoms. And what they held the most dear is what they considered their very proof of right to rule, the Blackfyre sword. So any possible way for GRRM to reveal this in a sensible way is that someone must learn this knowledge from the Faceless Men, who are likely the only other source to be able to confirm such a claim save the claimants themselves. So this would actually give Aryas storyline in Braavos a purpose from a storytelling perspective, as opposed to being completely and utterly pointless so far in the book other then to have her survive and make the reader feel good, which we know GRRM doesn't really care much about. And as for the Reynes, his features perfectly match the Reynes, and Littlefinger has been very apt about bringing down various Lannisters without getting on their bad side. He's very careful about how he does it, but has ultimately been behind ultimately every disaster the Lannisters have been subjected to so far. And the Reynes were known to be good with coin, just as LF, so it doesn't seem like an unlikely female line. It also explains how a Lord of the Fingers to be would feel entitled to duel the Lord of Winterfell to be over the Lady of Riverrun to be, if he's even telling the truth about that being the catalyst for his scheming nature. Something I also suspect it might not be.

But then we also know Jaquen is a Faceless Man who uses glamour to change his appearance, so what he looks like is really of little concern. We shul not make the assumptions that Faceless Men have the same lifespan as common people in aSoIaF, because we already know they don't from the Arya chapters.

And all the Blackfyre rebellions have been attempts to get the Iron Throne, which makes them extremely relevant history for the Iron Throne arc of aSoIaF. Bloodravens involvement also makes it relevant to Brans story arc, as it provides us with background information on Bloodraven as well.

OH COME ON!! Look how neatly and with what great speed you lightly touched on the 'blue flower growing from a wall of ice" prophecy. The fact that you didn't even MENTION that this does seem to have some sort of apparent connection to Jon, if he is the son of R+L, just shows that you are unfortunately rather willing to twist whatever imagery/words you need to to fit them into your theory. I like your videos, and I'm not looking to hate on you, but that just wreaks of a willingness to blind oneself to/ignore various cues towards other theories that oppose yours, and that's disappointing. Make your theories with your own references, but always maintain your honesty. *Omission is almost as dishonest as lying*, and for major cues like that one, for the sake of remaining unbiased, you really should at least mention the obvious conclusion that is often taken from said cue, and then add your rebuttal or alternative, rather than brush it over so as to not promote any strikes against your own beloved theory. Come on Preston, you know better, and I know you can do better than that! If you were really just putting your theories out there, but always simultaneously maintaining the idea that you use as your disclaimer at the end of most videos that "I'm probably wrong on at least half of this stuff, it's just all for fun", then you would have included a small mention saying: "Admittedly, this prophecy is one of the visual cues in the book that most strongly points to Jon as possibly being the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna. Personally I think it's a decoy, made specifically to point to Jon at first glance, because I actually think it means ...." And then given your suggestions, closing with something like, "But admittedly, it does certainly seem to point to R+L=J, but hey, that's the beauty of this series - almost every major theory has some pretty good references behind it, so I guess we'll see!" But no, you just merrily skipped over one of the strongest and most obvious instances of prophecy of the entire series! Sigh...

So your whole rant is about the fact he didnt spoke about Jons heritage and all the theories surrounding it in a video about Quaithe? Well if that is no reason to get angry about, I dont know what would be, right?! Ay lmao...

I know I am late in reply but... blue roses can also be associated with the children of a lord stark falling in love with someone they are not supposed to, after all the two situations it is mentioned are both about the daughters of a lord stark and a love interest who 'steals' them, against the wishes of lord stark. if jon is the blue flower then it could be argued it is as much a reference he will/has fallen in love with someone he shouldn't (and is the son of a lord stark) as much as it could be a reference to Lyanna. unless given direct proof of either, all theories are both possible and have flaws, and all evidence has ulterior interpretations.

I came across this while re-reading ASOS, at the end of Jon's 5th chapter after he escapes the wildlings it says " he rode til dawn, while the stars stared down like eyes" This could be his mother ashard dayne Awesome video btw!

She is NOT Rhaegars daughter. Full stop! She is Stormborn!
@nicksmith7966
@nicksmith7966 8 лет назад
+Iam Cleaver well its say in the book that the death of lyanna memory notes that a storm of petals filled the air. so dany could fit the bill there as being stormborn as well

+Nick Smith Dany is called "stormborn" specifically because there was a massive storm raging around Dragonstone on the night she was born. If she does turn out to be the daughter of Rhaegar and Lyanna that wouldn't be where her nickname came from. If her nickname came from a minor storm at the TOJ then there would be rumors that she was born there and not at Dragonstone. No one in the story seems to question when and where Dany was born, at least not that we know of.

+shananika yes she is nicknamed Stormborn because people believe she was born in dragonston where there was a massive storm but if it turn out she was born at TOJ, saying that she is stormborn is not false

+Nick Smith oh I see where you're going. Very true. I personally hope she's the daughter of Aerys and Rhaella. There are going to be too many characters who turn out to be someone different than we thought, namely Jon and Young Griff. But there are also theories about Meera Reed being the daughter of R+L and her being Jon's twin sister and there are theories about Tyrion being a Targaryen and theories about Jaime and Cersei being Targaryens and others. It's too much. Dany is already a product of the main family in the entire series. Why make her a different member of the same family?

Preston, with every video of yours I watch, I cry out my language's equivalent of "Holy fucking shit!" You have amazing insight and all the theories make an awful lot of sense. Damn! The longer you look, the deeper it all seems.

Okay Odd theory, but here we go. What if there being many prince's that were promised is not so that they can team up. But tackle many different things at once. Jon at the wall tackles the rising Winter. While Danny takes on the shadow of Asshia that threatens to cover the land in the endless night. And the third takes on the Summer. Finally bringing balance back to the world. Best guess for that would be going back to Valaria for that one though.

That is a really great idea. I always assumed the final battle would be a collection of heroes, but it need not be.
