Description:
This is a tutorial to take you through the process of recording a clean guitar and vocal track to a Midi drum track. This allows you to play your song to a set tempo (beats per minute).
While I am using Reaper and MT Power Drumkit, this process will work, with some variation, for any full-featured DAW. Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Studio One, etc.
If you find this helpful, please subscribe, like the vidoe, and leave me a commennt.
Thanks.
Video Chapters/Sections:

03:15 Set your tempo/BPM
04:44 Create a midi drum Track
12:08 Record a scratch track
17:08 Record a clean guitar track
24:00 Record a clean vocal track
27:26 Clean up my tracks and set some fx (Reverb)
36:28 Conclusion
The process is:
1. Figure out your BPM
2. Set up a Midi Drum Track
3. Record a scratch/song track (your map)
4. Record a guitar track (accompany your scratch track)
5. Mute your scratch track
6. Record a clean vocal track
Once complete, you can now do multiple vocal takes, guitar tacks, add additional instruments, etc.

in case you don't know - for item volumes > item right click>item processing>normalize items

Thanks. For whatever reason, I tend to avoid normalizing anything... but there certainly is a benefit. I'll try that during an upcoming tracking session. It could be particularly helpful with scratch tracks.

i like it for leveling. it alters the volume, it doesn't change the dynamics. it's non destructive, so you always can go back. ofc, it's just an option nothing else.

interesting technique

It sort of became my defacto method many years ago. I don't believe it was shown to me - it was more the fact that attempting to just record guitars I would lose my place.
