A Soulful song called Francesca by HOZIER hits the Heart Strings 

Hozier is not actually a band, but an individual artist! He started out independently in his parents' attic in Ireland with his first release "Take Me to Church" becoming a radio hit out of seemingly nowhere. His stuff is highly introspective and, in my opinion, is best enjoyed with the lyrics at your side. He is heavily inspired by black music, such as jazz and blues, and often references it in his songs ("Sweet Music" is lyrically built off references to a collection of jazz standards he grew up listening to). I would highly recommend "Jackboot Jump" if you want something more fast paced. It's also super underrated in my opinion. I never see any reactions to it, but it deserves the world.

His name is Andrew Hozier-Byrne. He is Hozier & the rest of the people are his band. His 3rd album is coming out in a month. From his first album, his song, Take Me To Church, was nominated for a Grammy for best song of the year. He performed it at the Grammy’s with Annie Lenox. He is a brilliant songwriter with an amazing voice, a great guitarist and seems like one of the most down to earth, kind, and intelligent musicians we’ve ever been blessed with. He’s also very funny. He hails from County Wicklow in Ireland.

Great reaction. For a little context each song on Hoziers new album is inspired by a different circle of hell from Dante's inferno. Francesca is inspired by the 2nd circle lust and the story of Francesca da Rimini. The tldr is that after entering into a political marriage, Francesca fell in love with her husbands brother and had an affair with him for many years. Her husband eventually found out and killed them both. In Dante's inferno, both of them are shades entwined together caught in the whirlwinds of the 2nd circle. I believe the round at the end of the song is evocative of the swirling winds, though I think Hozier puts a more positive spin on the story as the song is about love being worth it.

Hozier has been going strong 10 years into his career now, and writes mainly soulful folk and gospel inspired guitar music. He's been known to put the distortion on that beautiful guitar at times, but largely more as an atmospheric instrument, as he prefers to show off his finger picking skills in twinkly acoustic riffs! He hails from Wicklow, east Ireland, definitely not Canada haha but a good man all the same! His biggest hit so far is "Take Me To Church" from his debut album, it has 2 billion streams on Spotify and was pretty big when it came out so you've probably heard it somewhere! Sadly even though it's a fantastic song and now a modern classic I don't think it's the best of his stuff. He has garnered mostly a cult following since, not exactly reaching the same heights on the charts but having a greatly dedicated fanbase, though I think he deserves much more! Thanks for giving him a shot, as a lover of both rock and Hozier's beautiful Irish folk music, I'm really excited about this song and the new direction he's going in!

A few months you had a video with a masked singer with a soulful voice and I commented something like, “is that Hozier?” And the response was like: “no, who is Hozier” Guys, have you never heard the awesome, smash hit “take me to church”?!?!?

Surprisingly, you pronounced his name right! Most people pronounce it like “Hosure” (like “closure”). I usually tell people it’s pronounced like “cozier.” Get cozier with Hozier! Hozier is a legend. Incredibly poetic lyricist, phenomenal singer, fantastic guitar player (you can really see his skills shine in his fingerpicking songs, like Shrike or Cherry Wine). He can play anything, his sound ranges from soft, peaceful loves songs to hard rocking songs to soulful gospel songs, and everything in between. Close your eyes and point anywhere on a list of his songs and you will be blown away by whatever you pick.

This song is a masterpiece Try "First Light". I've seen him before when his first album came out with the hit "Take Me To Church". It was surreal, ethereal, simply fantastic. I am going to see him again on Friday, Sept 29th under a Harvest Super Moon. The last super moon of this year. I can't wait!!!!!!!

I think I first saw him in 2012 or something. I was blown away Self titled first album was great, 2 nd album Wasteland Baby has some great stuff too. Took forever to drop though. New album dropping next month...also a few years between the last. He's Irish, Andrew Hozier Byrne. Has had the same drummer and base player.. all the time. I'm a huge fan ❤

You need to listen to First Time - Hozier!!! So GOOD!!!!

Hozier is a pretty straight forward name to pronounce correctly and I think that trips people up bc they think its something fancier like Hosier, Hozi-ey, etc. you actually kinda nailed it first try. It is Hozier like Cozier!

i've never heard anything like that vocal bit at the end of the song aside from maybe choir stuff
