I guess Hozier doesn’t get a ton of views but I agree his voice is so gorgeous and his lyrics are poetry! I hope you listen to more of him even if you don’t react for a video (though you’d have at least one person watching if you did!) His hit was Take Me to Church, but he’s got a lot of other great songs in a variety of styles and…vibes for lack of a better word. I love Nina Cried Power, Francesca, Jackboot Jump, Eat Your Young, Movement - I could keep going!
Yeah, this one gets me emotional every time I hear it. His lyrics are incredible, and his vocals, which were already so gorgeous in previous albums, are just INSANE in his most recent work. What an introduction to Hozier, I'm so glad you enjoyed!!
I love Hozier so much. He is picking up the mantle of Irish poetry and I couldn't be happier. He grew up on blues and jazz standards so a bunch of his songs reference this. I would love for you to check "Jackie and Wilson," "Almost (Sweet Music)", "Nina Cried Power", and both parts of his song "De Selby". They are so fucking good!!!
Oh this is one of my favorite Hozier songs!!! I totally agree his voice is very haunting. He can do gentle and tender so well, and then break into this anguished powerful . . . wailing?? Almost?? Still perfectly in tune, but raw somehow! And his lyrics are always poetry. Other favorites from this album Unreal Unearth are Who We Are, Icarian, and First Light! I love the whole album, honestly. It’s a really intense experience to listen to it all the way through in order; you feel the themes of grief and loss build towards a kind of celebration of the potential for growth in the aftermath of loss, the beginning inherent in an end. Can’t recommend it enough!
I can't stop listening to this song. An emotional response happens evert time. Powerful performance. Saw this live last week and oh boy was it good. Work song was fantastic live too.
