Correction -Viv Richards - 51 ball Half Century( I have said a century) I apologize for the Mistake & Thanks for bringing it to my notice guys😊 that's the short version - & now for the tirade What in god's green earth is going on. I see a damn half written there I myself wrote it but then my brain suddenly goes - Nope -Nothing to see there (those are not the Droids you are looking for) & then I couldn't pick it up in 3 damn reviews? 3???? I mean how does a century in a 216 runs blowout....doesn't raise an Alarm? or even a raised eyebrow? It's like I suddenly went blind for the Word Half ( Is there a disease like this- which selectively deletes certain words from your vision? Worth checking out) Either ways - that was the Bull shit from My brain pulled Thankfully I didn't have to tell a glass half full joke this week.... Imagine how confusing that could have been....

Mankading is within the spirits of the game. If only an Englishman or Australian had done it and not an Indian, it would have been called a smart move, named after that cricketer, and would have been covered by the media in a positive light. We too would have seen it that way. Consider this, a run out after an unfortunate collision or due to slipping or injury is still not unsportsmanlike. But, countering an unfair play by the batting side, within the rules of the game is. He is a great man. But, Mankading isn't wrong.
@themysteriousvivek
@themysteriousvivek 2 года назад
Exactly man. The non striker has to run 2-3 yards less because of the head start he gets before the ball is delivered, which is unfair. To counter this, Mankading is the perfect solution. It's just that our Colonial mindset refused to accept that this was done by an Indian and not by Australian or English player. Even in football, while the penalties are on, the goalkeeper isn't allowed to move forward to reduce the area of coverage. The penalty in that case is retaken and if the goalkeeper repeatedly commits this offence, he is given a yellow/red card.

Cricketing World just had made a Mockery of this Mankading Rule by describing it as against the Sportsmanship. Other than just insulting the Great Indian Legend Vinoo Mankad everytime sm1 used this to run out sm1, this Stupid rule didn't achieve anything throughout & just created more confusion & hatredness & unnecessary rubbish debates. If it was against the spirit of game, y d fu*k it was allowed as per Rules? Just to insult that legend Mr. mankad's name? When an Australian bowled an underarm ball vs Newzealand on a last ball & NZ couldnt play that stupid delivery, after that match rules were changed to say that underarm Bowling is illegal. Why d hell they did not do that Immdly to this thing, when this non strike run out was done for the 1st time. They made it legal, called it Mankading and then called it as against spirit of game. What a fu**ing joke it was.
@daakudaddy5453
@daakudaddy5453 2 года назад
Because grey areas are fun. But stop being so triggered to begin with. Firstly, it is actually is unsportsmanlike to mankade a runner without warning. If you don't get how or why, you have never really understood the spirit of cricket, you have just watched matches and scores. To attack someone without warning, someone who is not even expecting to be bowled to, is like stabbing someone from behind. A sneak attack. Its ungentlemanly. A batter on strike is expecting to receive a good delivery intended to get him out. A batter taking a run after a delivery knows that the fielding team must stop him and get him run out. But mankading without warning is a sneak attack. And cricket doesn't work that way. Other sports might, but not cricket. Cricket is rooted as a gentlemen game, a game played with honour, and trick play is not welcomed with open arms. This is why mankading is against the spirit of cricket. At the same time, banning mankading would be giving runners a free lunch. Everybody could start running even before the ball is bowled. So both openly accepting and Banning it would kill cricket. So the best thing it can be, is controversial. It must always live in the grey area where right or wrong depends on the specific case. When Ashwin did it, it was unsportsmanlike. When Kapil Dev did it, it was necessary and proper. And your complaint is that people debate over it? So what? Its good that there's debate amd discussion. These sort of things keep the sport and its spirit alive. If we can see Yuvraj Singh's 6 sixes again and again, we can surely discuss and debate mankading when it happens.

@@daakudaddy5453 Dude. The non striker clearly knows that he can be run out by the bowler in this fashion. Why on earth he wants a warning when rule is clear. So when the striker batsman comes down the pitch & Wicket keeper stumps him out, u want wicket keeper also to warn the batsman first? Bcz he is doing it from behind na, Striker can't even see what wicket keeper is upto, is that also Backstabbing? Just like wicket keeper can stump out or run out a batsman if he is out of d crease, Bowler also can run out before delivery. If this is rules then the non striker knows about this. So why he wants warning for a know Rule? When the batsman is batting one handed, and then he changes his stance and plays a Reverse Switch hit by changing his grip, u want d batsman to warn the bowler first? Otherwise it's backstabbing? Bcz the Bowler thought batsman is right handed and bowled accordingly, but Batsman backstabbed the bowler now? My simple question is that Rule is something which every player knows. For a known Rule why should someone be a warned first by opposition player ? If Cricketing council wants the Bowler to warn the batsman desparately, why don't they make that also a rule that for Mankading run out, bowler should have given a warning in that over. If he does it without warning, it's not out. What has sportsmanship got to do with it. Did Bowler hit the batsman? Or abused him? He just ran him out as per the Legal Rules, which both r aware. Just bcz the non striker is not expecting the Bowler to do it, he can't expect a warning. How can it be called backstabbing, it's his fault that he has left the crease before ball is delivered. For his fault, why he wants a warning. Non Striker better read the rule book and come instead of crying abt sportsmanship. Rule book doesn't talk about warning. If u want to talk abt Sportsmanship, then talk about the instance where batter is running a run and gets a hamstring injury or bad cramp and falls unfortunately, Bowler decided not to run him out - Ya that's sportsmanship bcz some unfortunate thing hpnd with batter, u can't take advantage of that situation even though Rule doesn't prevent bowler from running him out even in that case. Thats different.. That's true gentleman sportsmanship. Running out a helpless batter in that situation is against Sportsmanship. Or Talk abt a situation where the ball hit by Batter hits d non strikers bat and goes in some.other direction where there r no fielders, so batsman decides not to take the run - that's called sportsmanship. Players keep abusing each other, why don't people talk abt sportsmanship then. Cricket has to be played like a gentlemens game then y get into fight with each other on the field. When the Bowler and wicket keeper or even close in fielder sledge the batsman in Tests with some.personal comments on even their families etc on the batsman in the name of 'Sledging', y nobody calls it as against Sportsmanship. Nobody talks abt all these, Bcz the Great Aussies think that Sledging is fun and part of the game, so while world should accept that? And if a player follows the rule by catching the fault of the non strike then it's bad? Did the non strike slip & got out of the crease by mistake? Then if bowler runs him out, I accept it's against Sportsmanship. Was the batsman in a helpless situation unintentionally? Then yes. But non striker clearly knowingly is going out of the crease bcz he wants to get some advantage for stealing a run. What's wrong in running out that batsman who is committing a fault, when Rule also allows u to do it? Why the Non striker wants a Warning for his own Fault?
@insiddious
@insiddious 2 года назад
@@daakudaddy5453 Abey daaku are batsmen given warning by wicket keeper before stumping? nahi na? so why do you need to give warning before running someone out? The rule is crystal clear. Only ones whining are the white folks ( Eng, Aus, NZ) who are just salty that they didn't "invent" a rule of the game they think they have complete ownership over.

It looked absolutely cowardly and unsportsmanlike initially , but Shakib told he was in a war and he was within the rules to appeal. What Walsh did 36 years ago is the best sportsmanship ever in Cricket, but at the same time if you are at war, and well within the rules of engagement, he should have just run him out ( Mankaded) . Viv was actually quiet off the pitch, if unprovoked. He was a an undemonstrative man in his spare time, minding his own business. Somerset team mate and England all rounder, Ian Botham, said that after a match he would often remain and sit in the dressing room on his own reflecting upon things, long after his colleagues had left. Greg Thomas once tried sledging him at Glamorgan; after a series of deliveries where he had kept missing the edge of his bat he said, “Viv, it’s red, it’s round and it weighs about five ounces.” The very next delivery, Vib hit him straight out of the ground and into the River Taff. He then turned to the fast bowler and said, “Greg, you know what it looks like. Go and fetch it.” He always met a challenge head on and he didn’t like big mouths and bullies, he just chewed them up.

Here the bowler makes a mistake and pays the price the same way don't you think the non striker batsman for leaving the crease before bowl is bowled should get the punishment of getting out there . Because if you leave crease even before bowl is bowled it given you an advantage against the rule . There is nothing wrong in mankading. If it is wrong why is it legal

Totally Agreed don't know why so many people consider it against the spirit of sportsmanship. Just imagine being a batsman you run half the way on crease even before the bowlers bowls the ball and you will not be punished with your wicket even though it's in the rules but it's against the spirit of cricket.

Batsmen should also show their sportsmanship by voluntarily leaving the crease after getting out in a no ball. They shamelessly continues to play, even scores boundary in free hit delivery! They should leave the ball or block it.

I dont know why mankading is frowned upon. The batsmen breaks rules and bowler dismisses him within the rules.

Wrong decision...Keemo Paul ran out non striker Zimbabwe batsman in under-19 world cup...it was last wicket and WI was losing that match which would result in them getting knocked out! But Keemo Paul ran out non-striker...WI advanced to knock out stage and eventually won under 19 world cup

How can you even say it's *Rules vs Spirit* when someone who's within the laws and running a batter out *VS* someone who's taking undue advantage??? I believe one taking undue advantage is *BOTH* against the rules and the spirit!!!

It's clearly in the rule books why is it unfair. Imagine someone getting into your house for burglary and you caught him but you have to let him go because he got caught before stealing something otherwise it's against spirit of mankind.

Mankading is within the rules of the game but during those days cricket was very emotional and a personal sport.. which was ruled by westendies from 70's to 80's but after the fall of 1983 it was not the same team... And since then they could never replicate the same amount of success in 50 over and test cricket

Those who plays cricket knows it's a gentlemen game with a few gentlemen left in it.. these are extremely rare and good decisions...like Walsh made...like gilchrist made to walk when a de silva was bowling..those are the tough but great decisions of great men...that can be role models as well.poor decisions like langer not walking against wasim when he was clear out...like Warner hitting an out of hand ball from hafeez always indicates cheaters that's why he eas caught cheating and cheater is how he will remain known for....its simple as that

I guess the whole confusion of these kinds of run-outs , happened because a batsman can choose to take a stance out of the crease & only be declared stumped out if he doesn't go back inside the crease after the wicketkeeper collects the ball behind the stumps & dislodges the bails. So , technically for a delivery to be completed the ball had to cross the facing batsmen stumps to be counted. Until that moment the batsman can be out of the crease & as the delivery wasn't bowled completely ,it could not be counted & therefore the runout couldn't be given.

Batsmen should also show their sportsmanship by voluntarily leaving the crease after getting out in a no ball. They shamelessly continues to play, even score boundary in free hit delivery! They should leave the ball or block it. I really can't see any difference between that so called 'sportsmanship' and stupidity. This game treats bowlers as second-class citizens and they themselves can't understand it.
